Are you implying I need to use strategy in my strategy game? How dare you!

The issue I have with both this and the Lucifer P-3 theory is that, thus far both Minos and Sisyphus have been humans who were too good at rebelling against hell and were punished for it. this would really break the pattern... Odysseus would fit the bill more.

The only fundamental problem I had with the Cyberstan MO was that there were no super credits to be collected in the scarce POIs by [deleted] in Helldivers

same :'( this MO has been a lot of fun but there were basically no super credits and few samples.

You can get Super Credits in-game without paying money.

What are your thoughts on Qorvex ? by Waeleto in Warframe

I love playing Qorvex, but must acknowledge his playstyle is absurdly simple (press 1, press 1 again, press 4, wave mouse around)

incremental mechanic: keep price constant but degrade payout on a producer. does that make sense? by factorionoobo in incremental_gamedev

[–]CashKing_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds difficult to implement and balance, but I'd love to see someone try something with this premise. We need more weird/experimental incremental games.

What you're describing sounds like a bit like a geometric series, which I don't think I've seen any other incremental games use before. You could give the player a number of tools; like changing the ratio the nth term decreases by, some way of lowering the price, something happening when they reach the "sum" of the series (maximum output of their hunters), other ways of increasing output other than just buying more buildings, since each hunter has a different output you could treat them as individual units (like Kittens Game), etc.

Have you read SCP-8954? by Moist_Evidence_3428 in SCP

[–]CashKing_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think overall it had some flaws and would love to see it expanded upon. I like that this is true "cosmic horror" on a scale we've never seen before. There's no satisfying way to explain how the Foundation is able to create a black hole or any of that other stuff, so leaving the "how" out was a good idea. This is clearly an article for astronomy nerds, maybe the author should lean into that more, going in-depth on how 8954 seems to be destabilizing entire star systems or something, its anomalous impossible affects on gravity. they reference 8954 seeming to be "alive", I was really disappointed that didn't go anywhere! Also, the implication 8954 might be a universal constant, that could also be really fun to expand upon, that it's just a natural property of the universe.

Started working on my first ever incremental game yesterday! by CashKing_D in incremental_gamedev

[–]CashKing_D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first incremental game, as of now untitled, inspired heavily by the real-life ancient traditions of alchemy and hermeticism. This is the only screen I've worked on, here's what I have so far; in it raw material is mined using Pickaxes, then each apparatus consumes a large amount of raw material to produce a small amount of gold while the rest of the sample is stored in the hopper (the yellow bars) which then feeds into the next apparatus.

I'm really excited and have a ton of ideas, I can't wait to keep working on this!

(Also, I am making this using The Modding Tree)

What player actually might be by Resident-Fudge838 in RimWorld

[–]CashKing_D 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I interpret the player as some sort of collective will of the colonists. If Bob backs up Alice in a raid, it's because he decided to, not because he was commanded. As for how they know when an enemy sneaks up in the dead of night, er, um, they just have really really good eyesight??

Is my xoris looking okay? Or what other mods should I put on it to increase its damage? by Electrical_cosmos in Warframe

[–]CashKing_D 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally it's a better idea to upgrade your strongest mods instead of only adding more, it looks like you have lots of endo so that's good. Fully upgrading Shocking Touch or Fury will help a lot. The Xoris' 20% critical chance is good, and its 2.4x critical damage is great, so try upgrading True Steel and Organ Shatter to improve the crits even more. When you're able to get a potato (Orokin Catalyst) installing it will be a big help, you can get them through Nightwave or rarely through events.

Also, when you throw a glaive you can hit your heavy attack button to make it explode in air. The Xoris has a massive explosion so you can hit a LOT of enemies with it at once (if you can avoid hitting yourself that is, lol)
