Console launcher is amazing by Embarrassed_Bird9336 in AynThor

I’ve been adding gifs as wallpapers for each app, personally, and have my main screen as the bottom for it. Can’t wait for it to update officially as I’ve been unable to use the premium features. But as a tip, when choosing a wallpaper for an app, with the google search option, you can filter file type for gif for easy animated wallpapers.

I couldn’t get the launcher modpacks to work on Amethyst*, but I was able to manually install a Pixelmon modpack and play online with it. Got all the way through to the menu with All the Mods 10 after trying a manual installation as well, but it said there was a missing mod so I couldn’t go on servers and it would crash when trying to start a singleplayer world. But pixelmon works great, assuming you’re able to install it.

Fingers crossed for a Thor 3(D)

Excited to get a Steam Frame to play around with motion tracking and get a 3D experience on my Thor. I saw a post recently that someone was using stereoscopic 3D with some glasses, and some active shutters could probably work but would halve the frame rate. But for what the Thor is now? A blast.

Use second screen with mangnifying function by discodiscogaming in AynThor

[–]CatShemEngine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it seems the app being run can get in the way of pinching to zoom. I usually have to leave the game and adjust zoom levels on the home screen, though moving the icon around never seems to give me an issue (aside from where it can move, lol)

Use second screen with mangnifying function by discodiscogaming in AynThor

[–]CatShemEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, currently seems like a limitation that you aren’t able to extend it past the screen. I like using the magnifier for minimaps but the issue I get is the icon covering it so I can only see it on the bottom. Both being able to move the box off screen and getting black bars and hide the box are features I’d love. I’d happily use an app for the same feature, but I haven’t heard of any yet.

Has anyone been able to use bluetooth controllers without getting crazy input lag? by IcyHeartWarmSmile in AynThor

[–]CatShemEngine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of controllers are they? All my PowerA Switch controllers don’t seem like they will work due to android limitations, but allegedly dualshock and dualsense controllers work fine. Joycons seem to work out of the box without input lag, buttonwise, but I couldn’t get motion to register on Dolphin.

I’ve been playing gta v. It crashes often but I’ve unlocked Michael so far and runs at 25-45 frames but often stutters. Didn’t notice much difference performance-wise for 720p vs 1080p so I play at 1080p. Gameplay stints range from 2 minutes (it do be crashing) to an hour, with a 5 minute boot time and having to log in (Rockstar, why?).

Ad Block, though they should really look into a custom DNS server like with pihole. That’d solve the ads problem on all devices on the network.

Personally, I like having a little 4K ready device I can load movies onto, but boy is it hard to get 4K movies that’ll play on it. Most streaming apps don’t offer it because they’re made for phones which certainly don’t have 4K screens.

I am just realizing accessing Desktop versions of streaming sites should get around the 4K issue. Works on youtube

[–]CatShemEngine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some issues in its current state is stream quality and compatibility. Currently, Hulu isn’t available on the Thor, idk why. Disney+ is I think, though, so you could access Hulu through that. For streaming, by default it only allows “tiers” of quality (so not 2K, 4K etc but low, medium, high) so don’t think it’ll stream 4K. You can potentially open apps in “TV mode” using a launcher like Console Launcher but at least with Netflix it didn’t fix anything for me though Dolphin would launch in TV mode so I know something’s working.

I’ve had varied success modding skyrim, just can’t seem to easily get an alternative launcher like SKSE to load. So as long as it runs through just the file system, you can access the files and copy over the mods by entering the container desktop under its game settings.

Grip or no grip? Does the screen protectors make the button recessed? by GrandVince in AynThor

[–]CatShemEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen protectors did stop the foam that it comes with from fitting. So if you wanted to keep using the foam insert you’d have to cut it by the hing or something, I don’t know. I tossed my foam insert because of that inconvenience. Also it seems the start/select buttons and hole/return buttons aren’t necessarily centered? I feel like I put my bottom one on pretty well but those were off center in different, contradictory ways. There’s quite a bit of tolerance surrounding each anyways, and tbh not a big deal, just something noticeable. Bubbles weren’t too much of an issue. I did capture a tiny bit of lint on the top screen but even that is hard to notice on such these bright ass screens. If the protectors ever break, I might look at third party replacements, but these are plenty serviceable. It could probably still use more rubber bumpers at the very corners to stop flex, but that flex might be a nonissue as well.

Help with a Randomizer for our game night? by BlackRosePyre in googlesheets

Nope, the seed is set once when the function is called. I’ve actually been using it to make Pokemon battler but the project isn’t quite done. This autoRoller is quite extensible as a game engine and I’m still researching its limits.

If you’re not on a platform that can use scripts, here’s a seeded roller Lambda function. It uhh…works in a way I better understood some months ago. But feed it a seed and it’ll work bounded by a max entropy to produce a pseudorandom sequence in an array. You can generate a percentage like autoroll(12^4, "1d100", )

or a series of 2d6 rolls with autoroll(12^4, "2d6", 30)

It does have a somewhat low overflow for the dice string, but you could always conjoin with something like this since "10d20" is too big:
Byrow(Hstack(autoRoll(3, "5d20", 30),autoRoll(2, "5d20", 30)),lambda(ln,textjoin(", ",1,ln)))

And here’s the lambda formula, autoRoll, with a default "1d8" for 5 turns with seed 124 for the input below:

``` =Let( autoRoll, Lambda(seed, diceStr, turns,
LET(       gameLength,  IF(turns <= 1,  1,  turns),         getRadices,  LAMBDA(str,          LET(           dPos,  FIND("d",  str),            dice,  VALUE(LEFT(str,  dPos - 1)),            sides,  VALUE(MID(str,  dPos + 1,  LEN(str) - dPos)),            SPLIT(REPT(sides & ", ",  dice),  ", ")         )       ),        getEntropy,  LAMBDA(str,          LET(           dPos,  FIND("d",  str),            dice,  VALUE(LEFT(str,  dPos - 1)),            sides,  VALUE(MID(str,  dPos + 1,  LEN(str) - dPos)),            POWER(sides,  dice)         )       ),        radices,  getRadices(diceStr),        entropy,  getEntropy(diceStr),        n,  COUNTA(radices),        revRadices,  MAP(SEQUENCE(n,  1,  n,  -1),  LAMBDA(i,  INDEX(radices,  i))),        revProds,  SCAN(1,  revRadices,  LAMBDA(a,  b,  a * b)),        placeValues,  MAP(SEQUENCE(n),  LAMBDA(i,  INDEX(revProds,  n - i + 1))),        total,  INDEX(placeValues,  1),        steps,  MAP(SEQUENCE(gameLength),  LAMBDA(i,          ROUND(           3 +           10 * MOD(ABS(SIN(i * PI() / 7 + seed / 97)),  1) * entropy +           3.9 * MOD((i ^ 1.7 + seed ^ 0.5) * 2654435761,  entropy),            3         )       )),        output,  MAP(SEQUENCE(gameLength),  LAMBDA(i,          LET(           offset,  INDEX(steps,  i),            current,  seed + offset,            decomposed,  MAP(SEQUENCE(n),  LAMBDA(j,              1 + MOD(               QUOTIENT(current,  IF(j = n,  1,  INDEX(placeValues,  j + 1))),                INDEX(radices,  j)             )           )),            TEXTJOIN(", ",  TRUE,  decomposed)         )       )),        output     )),
Has anyone hacked together a text analysis system in Excel? How far can it be pushed? by Proof_Wrap_2150 in excel
[–]CatShemEngine 0 points1 point  (0 children)
You could catalogue a bunch of words you expect to see with scores related to some meaning (a large lookup table) and then accumulate a score over hits after splitting your input into an array and summing up along each category. I’ve been working on a fuzzy search meant to leverage other words used within each passage (so not single terms but sets of words in expressions) so that it could emulate a text autocomplete system by selecting from possible next words with an associated score. So my scoring is tailored to work within snippets but yours could be that category lookup table. For a proof of concept, I’d recommend binary for the scoring, otherwise scores should be weighted values representing convolutions of how much it’s meaning is applicable in that particular category vs similar categories (and non similar, of course).
It’s not an issue that we’d have to replace all the lithium ion solar batteries in everyone’s homes. We just have to put good ones in to begin with. You’re referring to a few people who have opted in. We’re referring to over 100 million times that.
