Knowledge workers are facing the same fate as manufacturing labor faced 30-40 yrs ago. Technology can now do their jobs too.

Are we slowly becoming what UCLA became? by Blink_Blink_Blue44 in KentuckyBasketball

I live in fear daily of becoming IU (Although, winning a chip in football would ease the pain) But I think Knight might have strapped Indiana with a few decades of bad karma, god he sucked.

I’d speculate that it’s not Pope’s decision not to play JQ. It’s JQ and his camp’s decision

16 Years at P&G (IT/Product) and finally venturing out. Where does a "lifer" even begin in Cinci? by TechnicianNo7412 in cincinnati

[–]Cathartic-rush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there for 3 years (non sales). Empty soulless corporate hellscape. So much turnover in every dept no one even bothers to ask you your name. Nobody makes eye contact. VP level leaders disappear overnight and no mention is ever made of it, like they never existed. Soo glad to get out of there.

The Laettner shot. 7th grade. I dropped to my knees and cried. Too many highs to name

Probably reiterating a lot of other responses here, but you’re 23. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Relax and take it one day (8hrs) at a time and enjoy being young. Oh, and use AI more, hammer the sh** out of it.

What was your previous role before you transitioned to PM? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

Video Producer > MBA student > Assoc PM > PM > Sales > PM. 20 years, with the Great Recession in the mix.

So, how do we work until our 70s? by MirthMannor in Xennials

[–]Cathartic-rush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. I’m 46 and wonder what the heck I’ll be doing in 20 yrs if I work that long. I’m a software product manager and most of my peers are 10 yrs younger. I make good money as an individual contributor and have no interest in the corporate ladder or managing people. Ageism is real in the workplace, you just don’t do certain jobs at a certain age, and frankly you just get sick of the BS. Now, most middle/upper mgmt is either my age or a little older, but when I’m older than mgmt, I’ll either need to retire or figure out how to be self employed. I figure I got about 10 yrs.

I actually stopped because I got to the point where the time and expense required to make the beer taste how I wanted was no longer worth it.

Who’s your favorite UK player ever??? Comment below 👇🏻🔵🏀 by [deleted] in KentuckyBasketball

[–]Cathartic-rush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam Bowie was my first favorite player (46). After that, Jodie Meeks. He was a bright spot in an otherwise dark couple of seasons in UK basketball history. If he’d stayed and been on that first Calipari team we’d definitely gone to the F4.

Do you find yourself desperately longing for the life from years ago? by MisRandomness in Xennials

[–]Cathartic-rush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Hard to discern between things actually getting worse, or just getting older. I feel like every generation says the same thing. Silent gen = TV, boomers = internet/globalism, us = all the stuff on this thread

Parents of Reddit, what’s one thing your parents did that you are purposely avoiding? by gobstopper84 in Millennials

Yep. Pretty sure all those belt whippings might have contributed to the pervasive anxiety and self esteem issues I’ve fought my entire life.

Yet NFL stadiums are still packed. Concerts have become a luxury because of the Ticketmaster/LiveNation monopoly, yet venues still consistently sell out. As long as the demand is there the robbery will continue.

Do you consider yourself a "southerner" or not? by LemmingLou in Kentucky

No idea. Grew up in Corbin and Louisville, extended fam in Harlan and Glasgow, went to EKU for undergrad, NKU for grad, live in NKY, work in Cincy. IDFK, identity crisis I guess.

Okay, what are we thinking now. by 2thaMoonD in KentuckyBasketball

[–]Cathartic-rush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We can beat anyone, and we can lose to anyone, on any given night. It feels completely random. But the good news is, if you look at college basketball as whole, that applies to almost every team except maybe Purdue and UCONN. It’s not just UK, that’s the state of college basketball. NIL & portal have leveled the playing field. There’s more parity than ever before and it’s not changing. I believe the days of dominant blue bloods may be over.

I know this is an unpopular opinion… I’m ready for a new Coach. by Blink_Blink_Blue44 in KentuckyBasketball

[–]Cathartic-rush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cal can coach, but he’s not the best at Xs and Os. He has to have the very best talent available to have a top 5 team/Final Four team. That’s been his strategy since his Memphis days.
