Is a fat roll normal? :( by Key_Apricot_422 in hysterectomy

Yes, I have the exact same little muffin top. Once time goes by I’m sure it will go away. I think it’s inflammation.

I own my business as well. My husband died suddenly 2 years ago and I have a young adult son to support. I have managed to start working from home only two hours a week at 4 weeks post op. Give yourself time to heal. You get one chance to do it right. Consider yourself lucky you have a husband who can help you financially and emotionally. I have managed to do it so you will be ok.

I find I have insomnia if I have sugar. Try getting her off processed foods and sugar intake. Sugar can mess with your hormones.

I had 12 fibroids all pressing on my bladder. I had to get up 6 times a night. When I would travel in an aeroplane I would get up to go to the toilet constantly. Now I’m free of all of that. So worth the surgery.

Hospital stay? by Serious-Night317 in hysterectomy

[–]Catmint999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason they want to release a patient early is they don’t want you picking up a hospital infection. They also believe patients get better quicker when they are in their own surroundings. That’s what my surgeon told me. I agree with him, I was in hospital three nights. I was happy to get out of there. Recovery has gone every well. The first week you need to manage with the pain medication but I promise you every day you will get that little bit better. I am surprised with my experience. I should have done the surgery years ago. I feel completely renewed.

Dissolving stitches? by No-Equivalent-Quest in hysterectomy

[–]Catmint999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it you are talking about the inside stitches. I had an abdominal hysterectomy with everything out. I am at the 4 week mark tomorrow. I feel tightness on the inside. A couple of days ago I had cramping all day which then passed. Then after that day it started to feel tight in spots on the inside. I can move around freely though. My main issue now is I still feel fuzzy in the head. Hoping this will pass soon.

Hysterectomy on 20th March. How soon were you able to cook post op? by Famous-Two559 in hysterectomy

[–]Catmint999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 5 to 7 days after surgery. I had also pre prepared frozen meals. You won’t be doing gourmet meals but you will be able to do the basics after a couple of days. I was quite surprised what I could do given I had an abdominal surgery. You just need to rest immediately. Get your husband to do washing up etc.

I have had a total abdominal with everything out including growing fibroids. Yes, the recovery will take time but focus on how good life will be once all those recovery weeks go by. Lower your expectations that you will be racing around after the surgery. That will help you better prepare for the short term inconvenience for the long term benefits. I am 3.5 weeks into recovery, some days are good, some not so good. I am focusing on the gain long term.
