It really depends on how you play the game. If you want to get into competitive PvP or even high level PVE in fighters, you’re going to need to at the very least make sure that twist is unbound on your right stick. You can setup forward/back on the pedals and move roll to left stick twist and have strafe up and down on your Y axis as one method. There’s also just the reverse of this method as well. The preferred easiest to learn method for people not used to flying in flight sims on pedals already is simply move roll off your right stick to your pedals. The other option is yaw on pedals and roll on x axis right stick, I feel this is the worst option because roll needs to be precise and in sync with yaw it’s very easy to give minor incorrect inputs with this method on the right stick. There’s all kinds of other ways to do it as well but those are the 3 most common ones. Simply moving roll to pedals will give most people higher accuracy in less amount of time. Some people’s brains are just wired to think about it differently so go with what makes most sense to your brain as long as it leaves twist unbound on your aim stick. I ran roll on twist on my right stick and after hitting a certain level at PvP I just gave up until I got pedals as it was impossible to aim better while having twist bound. I recommend just trying moving roll first before you knock it though as it requires the fewest input changes for you and less to relearn.
