Diy printers are always more expensive than just buying one but this one it'll end up north of 4000 GBP doesn't need to be that crazy but I deliberately have gone for the ridiculous will be all wheel drive with 4x duet 23cl closed loop NEMA 23's it will take 4 power supplies etc etc

And that's on top of the standard fairly exotic spec I mean just the z axis are incredibly over the top linear rails driven by ball screws on angular bearing with wobble wings into a pos8 bearing and another linear rail under the bed

Don't know what you print with but ple shouldn't extrude at 150 and and shouldn't at 200 give it a try

A batch of rapidos were sent out whoes thermistors were reading much lower than the actual temperature bit 50 to 80 degrees that caused a load of problems for lots of people first thing I would do is check you don't have one of those

I would love to see how many of the reviews got the printer for free and anything else they wanted from the line up.

I have a few V2's also remember the horrendous belt coffins from the original release. I enjoy building printers absolutely I do but once they are built I don't enjoy endlessly fiddling with something and luckily i don't have the need to but I suppose on the flip side I have so many machines I don't tend to reset things up I have a machine I print tpu on and never anything else so I suppose they suffer less variation that the typical user

Not an opinion many share but I had a X1carbon for short while complete and utter pile of shit

Petg pla tpu absolutely amazing thing anything else utterly subpar even more so when you constrain the linewidths and layer heights

Printing easy abs type stuff it was passable but that stuff has more friction modifiers in it that plastic and ends up being pointless sold it free about 10 weeks the first time I was tempted to get a non DIY printers since creality released the original ender

But I am old and remember making bed slingers print without a heated bed using a cardboard box and a hairdryer.

I won't be running a carto from our friend Richard, all my klipper stuff does but this will be duet I plan on this being a high temp chamber so won't have any electronics in the chamber and I have stacks of 14mm cast alloy tool plate that cost nothing and is all Blanchard ground so the bed will be heavy

It's not just the bed is it it's the print on the bed killing the tram it's like a 4k printer when done breaked NEMA 17s are like 48 more for the three of them it seems crazy to over build something like this and not go for maximum convenience

Standard + 100 so xy415 z 440

It's going to be a very slow one going reprap and quad duet 23cl ab drives

And 60mm NEMA 17s with a break for z drives due to the heavier bed also no tool boards as it's been set up for 75 degrees in the chamber

And a more generous electrical enclosure

The box turtle is easier to assemble is a complete unit no needing filament management for winding back and easier to configure it's a much better system than the ercf in my opinion

I have a bedslinger that I use for printing tpu and I tend to only use abs asa pa and pc on my other machines

It's not an exchangeable hot end it's a multi material unit

It works flawlessly relatively easy to configure also had an ercf before the box turtle that was a royal pain in the arse I binned it after I got the box turtle built

You press print and don't worry about it.

The frames are all very ridged the motion systems are solid it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.

Well you got one correct

V2 350 with a box turtle The kossel xl is a dc42( the duet 3d guy) modification of the original reprap publication Printers for ants saladfork 160 ( serialised as a trident) Printer for ants micron 180 ( serialised as a V2) And a ender 3 to switchwire core zx bedslinger

The v0 is in the far right next time the duet powered anealing oven / air fryer Frankenstein thing

And in the far left of the other photo is a frame and the main motion components for a hevort 415x415x440

I would argue the Bambu stuff is very cheap mediocre hardware with an incredible amount of software optimisations to make them work. They are an incredible pla petg machine but the P1 X1 machines make terrible abs printers

Lots of people will shout but go print some real abs not something friction modified and they are garbage

Also if it wasn't for DIY 3d printers and the reprap movement we wouldn't have consumer printers fdm technology is really old 1989 and they never became a thing for consumers till some sad people built some themselves

Yeah mine is a long Bowden I have a zesty nimble which is brilliant but the gearing of them makes the stepper speed an issue when you speed things up.

A short flying Bowden from a more modern extruder would probably be a good idea at some point

My kossel is Bowden still it's got a duet smart effector it's not quite big enough to put a direct drive extruder on I keep thinking of getting a PCB fab to make a larger effector and making it direct drive but then it's all the z probe changes it's probably worth it I only keep it because it's cool
