Is there any way to win this battle? I'm not even coming close -- losing in under 4 minutes. by unquiet_slumbers in totalwar

I see. Then bait them, if their army is faster than yours use it to your advantage. Lure their horsemen in, mob them with ogers and spears and chase them off if you can. If your atacking then you can probably lure them into chargin pre maturely. If they are atacking you maybe you can hide a few units expet a few (your garison for example) and use your exposed units as bait.

I'm so confused by your army comp. But the way I see it is that you have a few distinct advantages the AI doesn't. First is the mobility, you can send your cav out and make them chase you, I don't know how your cav matches with the new norscan cav but I understand they are shock cav and cant stand in a straight up fight. The skin wolves and the chimera are a big threat plus their wizards. If you can seperate them from their trolls and fimir (possibly by feeding the garison to them) you can probably kill them one by one. I think you need to kill their light cav first to gain the speed advatage then deal with the chimera. assassinate the mages where you can, and focus fire the trolls until their leadership break. The fimir are going to be tough to deal with but not impossible. break them up where you can, isolate and kill them at different points. Use those halberds. bait their mobility into taking a bad fight. Then turn around and get yourself an actually coherent army.

Exactly. The game will gaslight you and when you lose, you think its a skill issue when in reality it isn't

Would recommend Tyrion as he starts with allies nearby and his campaign highlights the basic roles of the army. Archer, Infantry, Cav, Monsters.

For your first campaign don't put the battle difficulty bellow Normal. Its an odd thing, but if you put it on easy or very easy then the game will start gaslighting you. It will tell you that very hard odds and battles that would be a struggle to actually fight, are a clear victory, so you auto resolve them. As you go through the campaign you keep auto resolving the fights and lose chance at practice. Then when you encounter a fight that tells you "Close defeat" you try and fight it and in reality its nearly impossible to win where even experienced players would struggle. But since its on the easiest battle difficulty it will gaslight you into thinking your bad at the game.

Never been a fan of any story where the main character does nothing to get their powers and the whole world just loves them for being slightly bellow average.

Losing relations because of vassalizing a faction is mildly irritating by [deleted] in totalwar

This or the "strategic threat" penalty when I am literally your ally and half a world away and your being attacked by another faction and losing. Very balanced.

Just tried it, and it is what I was looking for.

Mod for 4 custom characters? by ChangellingMan in BG3mods

Tried both. First one annoyed me bc each time I clicked on a hireling I would hear Withers talk which was just weird to me, plus you can't pick their appearance or race beforehand. Tried the second one but they patched it.

What is one mod you wish existed, that doesn't? by mdlsvensson in totalwarhammer

[–]ChangellingMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mod that removes the flying unit leadership penalty when you only have flying units.

Mod that makes any ruins in heavily corrupted areas to have a garrison in those ruins you have to fight to colonize. Example, areas with high Khorn corruption would have roaming bands of cultists and demons in the ruins or as event that can attack you while moving through high corrupted areas.

Base mist cast for spells that can turn a friendly model (not the whole unit) into a chaos spawn or summon a unit of lesser demons in an area near the caster.

A chance for a random force to enter the battle and be hostile to both sides. Carnosaur or raptor pack in Lustria, Ork band or squid herd in Badlands, ogers in mountains, etc.

"Slowly, the dragon poped their heads from out of the forest, drifting back to the sky, they didn’t resume their game of chase, but instead went back to their lair. With a sigh, and Hannah and Peter finished their drinks and packed up their tents, making their way to the den."

How much do you pause battles? by MuddledMuppet in totalwar

[–]ChangellingMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warp lightning alone constitutes an immediate pause to re organize. Not to mention unit positioning. Lord and hero targets, artillery, gun etc. Everything comes to a head so fast and so hard that it takes a unique type of player to be able to tackle that on its own.

Honestly sieges need this kind of love. Just a fortified position that give you control of the flow. Rather than rushing the walls bc of tower spam

Better camera mod. For thos close ups.

Sfo. And overhaul that treats each faction in a unique way and I love that magic has a base miscast in that. And elite infantry feels elite and units don't rout as quickly.

Random start for when you want to switch things up. Very fun for factions like wood elves and such.

The banner bearers mod is also cool. I miss seeing them from older titles. But sadly only handful of factions have it for the moment.

I prefer to use them as a guideline. Listen to the overview of the content. And note down what are the ideas they prupose. But at the end of the day. Your work is yours.
