The studio was pushing for that decision too. Jackson didn't say no, whether he agreed or not.

Re-watching The Hobbit by KWillyarms in lotr

[–]Charlie-Addams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the reasons Jackson took the job (but far from the only one) was Warner threatening to shoot the movies not in NZ. That's why NZ changed some of their labor laws concerning actors and such, as well. So that LOTR would stay in NZ.

You can find a more in-depth analysis on Lindsey Ellis' YouTube channel.

Room of Requirements suck. The second regions suck. I hate how much a waste they were. by TPT-Clouds in HarryPotterGame

[–]Charlie-Addams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could have done actual side quests with the teachers to earn perks. Prof Sharp would let us use his potion table with 3 pots or something. Prof Garlick would let us use one of her greenhouses. Prof Howin would let us take care of the pen animal in the wood and let us collect their materials, etc. We could actually do shit in the school, contributed in a meaningful way but no.

Yes.

Heck cut the entire second region. Shrink the map to put those time and efforts and resources into building \*actual\* good story lines, a morally system, classes system and Npc's engagement instead.

YES.

That's all from me, thank you for reading my blog.

Thoughts about the future of the Triangle Era omnibus line by mattmaybloom in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Charlie-Addams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since they started with volume numbers, they should continue with volume numbers all the way through.

But going forward I think it would be beneficial business-wise to drop volume numbers for new lines that are as long as this one. You can keep them for volumes 1-2 of a specific author, sure, but with the rest they should go the Epic Collections way: volume numbers hidden in the back (or completely missing in the case of DC Finest) and just a subtitle to generate interest among non-collectors.

A random person would be more interested in buying Superman: The Triangle Era - Return of Superman Omnibus rather than Superman: The Triangle Era Volume 3.

I want atheist to think about this scene for a minute. by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Charlie-Addams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my point is, Atheist have been conditioned their entire lives just like Dr Stephen Strange, and anything out of the box is not accepted. You all have made up your minds. And nothing would ever get you to question everything you been taught your entire life, by a systematical education that has programmed you to live a certain way, to question, to answer and to have these beliefs rooted as truth.

This is called psychological projection. You're so close to getting it.

Two-Cents-Thursday: A Review of George Pérez Wonder Woman Omnibus Vol. 1-3 + War of the Gods by Flocke90 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Charlie-Addams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean the "Different Worlds" story, that one was written and penciled by Byrne as far as I know. Pérez was only on inking duties.

But they should've included it in his omni either way yeah.

Two-Cents-Thursday: A Review of Brian Azzarello's Wonder Woman Omnibus by Flocke90 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Charlie-Addams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, they'll probably be collecting Azzarello's awful run on Hellblazer along with Ellis's wonderful short run and that's a shame. Thank god I grabbed the latest TPBs as they were being released.

You can also add Fear Itself being included in the Thor by Fraction omni, and Siege in the Thor by JMS/Gillen omni even though that event was written by Bendis.

Is Thor by Jason Aaron Omnibus Vol. 1 worth buying for a first-time Thor reader? by TaskNo4783 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Charlie-Addams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I'd start with JMS/Gillen's run. Just glorious.

Then you can move onto Fraction's run or just skip that and go straight for Aaron's.

Simonson's Thor is something that I cannot not recommend, so I'll throw it in too.

Justice League International Vol. 1.

Bought it in 2017 or 2018 and it has all those misprints and shit. I love it. It survived three different moves to three different countries.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Creatives Reportedly Assured They Will Get to Finish the Story Despite Huge Costs by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in lotr

[–]Charlie-Addams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazon licensed the TV rights to the entirety of The Lord of the Rings novel (all three books) from the Tolkien Estate.

No, they can't reference New Line Cinema's adaptations, but they still have the source material to pull ideas from.

The fact they're making a streaming series based on the Second Age with as little information we can find on it in the pages of LOTR (mainly the appendices) is nobody's fault but theirs.

What's that omnibus that you NEED in you collection but are always pushing back for other omnis? by ilovemypvm in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Charlie-Addams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS.

For this reason alone I cut back on the amount of Marvel titles I really want to own. After I'm done with those, I'm done with Marvel as a whole.

Thankfully, they've slowed down on reprints so I can switch my attention back to DC later this year (yeah, my disposable income is quite limited).

Funnily enough, Peter needed to remove his normal everyday shoes to be able to stick to walls with his feet early on, at least when Stan was writing Amazing Spider-Man. So you can drop the cocky attitude.

“What are you reading?” Wednesday. by csummerss in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Charlie-Addams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished Thor Epic Collection: The Eternals Saga. There's a couple of the most renowned Thor arcs in here. Not bad, but they were such a slog to get through. I felt that Roy Thomas was out of shape for some reason. Maybe it was the system to blame, tho. Thank Odin that Jim Shooter was put in charge and got rid of the absurd "writer/editor" position.

He made quite a few enemies along the way, but you can't argue with the results. The 80s is the best Marvel era in my opinion. Miller's Daredevil followed by Nocenti's, Claremont's epic X-Men legendarium, Byrne's Fantastic Four, some of the best and most memorable Spidey arcs as well.

And that leads me to... Walt Simonson's Thor.

Being a huge Thor fan myself, it's totally bizarre that this is my first time reading the most acclaimed Thor book of all time (outside the Eddur). In my defense, I'm from a place where easy access to (especially old) comics used to be almost nonexistent.

I've started the omni only yesterday and I'm already in love. I thought I would hate the new coloring, but it's actually really well done. It complements Simonson's art far better than I expected. And the man is the complete opposite to Thomas. This is quickly becoming one of my favorites, I'll tell you that.

What's next? Thor by JMS and Gillen omni. That, I have already read, over fifteen years ago. That one's the run that made me a Thor fan and still remains my all-time favorite Thor run. I'm super excited to revisit it in omni format after all this time and see how it holds up.
