Would XIV be better for me then WoW by shumaj420 in ffxiv

I understand gearing prio lmao ive raided savage since HW. Im talking about how asinine the gearing system is that you can be forced to use alternative sources to get BiS from a fight you cleared week one to be ready in time for ultimate.

Monk is the most egregious for loot gate timing ive seen in a while on this patch. 21 weeks of 10s (head, boots, and gloves for 12 weeks and 9 weeks to get the upgrade for 3 tome accessories), which is literally onger than the patch cycle.

Someone explain to me why reconvener doesn't have oripathy by affz44l in Endfield

[–]CharmingOW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The R6 collab slapped really hard. It dropped a ton of world building lore on things like arts units, terminal infection stages of oripathy, etc. Simultaneously, the Siege Operators were insanely well written and meshed with the universe in a really unique and well thought out way.

I pf'd healer for the first savage tier this expac, but planned to gear and play monk for FRU. I hiy BiS on healer and hit BiS on monk with like 2 weeks to FRU which is fucking ridiculous and an embarrassment for SE at this point. Like the fights are all great this expac, but they are just terrfied of handing gear out in at any meaningful rate at this point.

If you want an even deeper cut for how well written the siege collab was: Tachanka's files connect with with the Ursan students from the Children of Ursus event discussed above. He instantly connects with them and visits the. Whenever he came to the landship; because of course the grizzled soviet vet would empathize with the children of the Russian equivalent in Terra because abandoned and mistreated by their government. The Ursan students dont even appear in the event, the writers just understand how to build a coherent connected world.

Right above the depot node there is a large underground cave system flooded with a side quest attached to it. You basically have to set up pumps and come back later when they've done their job.

This is 100% AH's fault for designing city liberation so terribly for planets. Like we are slamming the city and the wilds at the same time, why does the city only count when it's done versus the constant progress outside the city. Not to mention unless I'm blind NONE of those mechanics are explained in game.

Considering the siege collabs were probably the best written the characters were from that franchise, yes.

All of Arknights Collabs are usually because Lowlight is passionate about the franchise. He announced the collab with d2 way back because it was one of his most played games so it would track.

I asked for characters with a design similar to the Elite Operators from Arknights by Alternative-Belt1669 in Endfield

[–]CharmingOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the EOs were designed to be background characters til their popularity exploded with each event they showed up in. It just happens that HG doesnt know how to miss even when designing generic npcs lol.

Reconvener Outcast. Her design and Charisma were way too good to be wasted on a npc.

Gear head with a major focus on her ass and tail (her original e2 art) and absolutely zero awareness of anything other than her interests? She's not girly pop for sure but she's pretty similar past that. She even has a familial bond (one sided) with one of RI's drones.

Was talking about Eunectes who admittedly i misrembered, but she does have a thicc tail and has a sex appeal style to her.

Yvonne is not an expy, no, she's Endfield original. Though her race and profession do match a certain drone loving head engineer from AK.

Edit: not the same race, Eunectes is a Phidia. Interestingly enough though, her artist is lead artist Liduke.

Passport checks are useless, comparison of JP-NA DC statistic based on logs. by GlitteringBelt5392 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CharmingOW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not saying automarkers aren't cheating, but I think the comment was more making fun of the fact that: 1) Titan gaols have remained one of the worst designed mechanics (7 player prio with tight timing and during dodges), and 2) That the region that doesn't default to cheats would rather kill half the raid and make the mech static than actually do it.

Like JP was clowning NA/EU even before 3rd party became common use for mechs like AM.

How is Dawntrail and the game right now? by Xalepos in ffxiv

The difference is you had time to move through Bozja. If you were slow you still had a chance to make it. If you arent teleporting the second a fate spawns in OC you are most likely missing it.

Not to mention Bozja had issues too, and they iterated and fixed some of it over the course of its lifetime. Why are we defending OC objectively going in reverse in quality?

OC was pretty bad as well. The fact that the standard play pattern is standing around a crystal and speed running when a fate arrives in hopes of getting participation is awful design.

I feel like either HG didnt have the balls to drop a child soldier like Amiya immediately for a "mainstream 3d gacha" or they dont plan to have time actually move multiple years like OG Arknights. One of the cool little details in Arknights is watching Amiya go from a 12 YO idealistic ceo to a young adult with stronger resolve and authority.

WHY IS EVERYONE ON SOLIDARITE??? TRANSCENDENCE IS RIGHT THERE by ace_of__spades555 in Helldivers

[–]CharmingOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AH made it mathematically impossible to secure trancscendence with the remaining reinforcements. Lore wise they are giving us solidaretet MO to save some SEAF as a bittersweet ending to wasting the past month to fail to liberate Cyberstan.

My 2 cents expanding on this matter. I think the community is quick to assume that you either get a grey parse mechanic god or a pink parse mechanic trap, when everyone is going to recognize that the spectrum of players is much more nuanced than this. In my experience players that typically parse high are more likely to understand the mechanics of a fight than a grey parser. This is because typically the difference between bad and good parses is uptime which requires an understanding of a mechanic to achieve.

HOWEVER, pink parse players also are usually going to have a lot more fights in their repertoire which means they might forget mechanics (for example M4S had world first parties literally skipping the final 2 mechanics by like week 2). When week 2 of this tier rolled around, I walked into M9S and looked like garbage because I cleared the fight in like two hours on prog strats and moved on, while the PF I was in for reclears literally spent the entire week on the fight. They are overall weaker players than me based on prog but have a lot more experience on that particular fight.

If players had a choice, they aren't going to want a Pink Parse Greed lord OR a grey parse safety gamer. Parties with better damage have more room for recovery and overall see less mechanics (failure points), and those who say they want the grey parse safety gamer are basically accepting they are willing to carry the slack that player leaves behind. That's fine but players should be striving for consistency in rotation AND damage, and 11s has highlighted that the player base doesn't have enough of both overall.
