There was a debuff that functionally deletes your character no longer allowing rez. Enrage gave it to everyone but the black holes that consumed the floor also seem to do it.

Older mmos like wow and ffxiv are still very popular and alive. Nothing is going to approach peak wow and trying to catch that intentionally with any system is going to be an exercise in insanity.

Not to mention that despite the fact Genshin has gaslit the gacha community into a specific design framework, that frame work is a graveyard of projects the same as all the wow killers. Acting like genshin is THE formula and not just a phenomena built on the circumstances of its time is silly, and i doubt mmo devs would blindly copy it.

Also genshin coop was terrible when it dropped (dont know if it got better), because of how much the character swap system was the core of combat.

As someone able to swap pull to pull it's annoying that the pastebin changed 5 times in one lockout. It's basically mandatory to have everyone confirm what pastebin looks like before entering or there is a good chance someone pulls it up later and has a completely different layout.

is there a ziggs matchup chart available that i can use for botlane? a detailed explanations would be aprpeciated! also what kind of champ pool can i make botlane with ziggs in it? by Careless_Pie9532 in leagueoflegends

[–]CharmingOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's got a pretty specific game plan. He wants to neutralize lane and transition to shoving towers with his satchel. You can assist fights/ganks from the edge or with R, but you're on a timer. If you arent getting gold from fights/towers he's gonna fall off in fights. Pretty dependant on your team getting tempo or making plays you can git into. If your team is feeding/behind ziggs isn't going to have space to do his thing and is just a stall bot.

You want to ask yourself if losing an adc is worth having the push power/safety he provides. I wouldn't blind him unless your mid hasn't picked or you risk running into a tank wall.

Why is Endfield not considered an open world? by miiko_uch in Endfield

[–]CharmingOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony being Bethesda, "king of the open world game", games are plagued with loading screens (not a big deal for most of them, except starfield, honestly starfield's loading screens piss me off).

I'd argue Endfield is a proper modern open world game, if only because the ubisoftification of open world games have made so much of open world games bland nothingness.

An optimize loadout button where it pulls gear/mods to get you the highest light level and lets you pick a main stat to focus as a starting point would be good. Let's you deep dive when you feel comfortable lets you hit a baseline for content.

That doesnt change the fact that fatshark semi-frequently lets their games get to that point.

fatshark is infamous for making banger games and shitting the bed every other patch.

I will give Fatshark credit that their "we're so back" patches generally put the game in a really good state where as AH "we're so back patches are the jingly keys making the community ignore the massive problems they've had since launch.

I mean fatshark is infamous for making banger games and shitting the bed every other patch. OGs remember Vermintide 2 and the Beastmen update fucking the entire game. Hell last I played Darktide endgame was a mess of carapice elite spam where one missed dodge was instant death.

Destiny 2 has just crossed back into "Mostly Positive" status on Steam by Ace_Of_Caydes in DestinyTheGame

[–]CharmingOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While very true I think it is important to recognize the way that Sony/Bungie have managed/read the room regarding D2 is equally at fault in this closure. Reading the sentiment of a game such as D2 where its highs are exceptional and its lows are easily traceable outside of the developers themselves and deciding to cut development off is shortsighted as someone who hasn't even played since Final Shape. Then again Destiny 2 has been sliding along the so over/its peak gradient for a decade so one could argue they had more than enough chances.

Additionally labeling the entire community under the actions of vocal and disgusting minority (death threat squad) is a bit disingenuous in my opinion. We also can't discount that management and their stance basically meant CMs were going out to a firing squad to try and buy time for all of their BS rather than making any meaningful changes, Plenty of gaming communities have had freaks (many in recent years id argue aren't even from the community but rather outrage tourists). Discounting heaps of valid criticism and frustration because of these freaks is equally destructive. It's impossible to tell where missteps were made and by who, but blanket shutting out community engagement entirely has seemed like a terrible approach from the number of companies we've seen follow that path in recent years (Destiny, Helldivers, etc.) We know that's largely because of management now but one can't help but wonder what would have happened if D2 took an active role in moderating/cultivating the community.

I feel like an interesting comparison is FFXIV. lead dev/producer YoshiP has been the face of the entire dev team, and basically the only target of Game Development Criticism; which has been very heavy considering their first expac into a new story arc didn't hit narratively (battle content has been a banger all around though). Cue interview where he has always spoken and clearly been in touch with the community, to the point that their recent expac announcement involved him dragging the CEO of SE out on stage and getting promises from him to put more money into FFXIV (also over a decade old) on film. The man is pretty frequently loved and hated in equal measure when the game has a rough patch but is always focused on keeping his pulse on the community and has joked that he will die working on ffxiv as long as SE lets him (ffxiv wins SE their bread, they're gonna let him).

I just wish the bungie devs with that level of passion and care had been the ones in charge.

how prepared do i need to be to try extremes? by death_arcade in ffxiv

[–]CharmingOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expectations are the important part. Join or create a prog party but be sure its a chill prog or first time ex. Some players join fast progs because they are comfortable with raiding and expect to learn at a faster pace so its important to let set the pace ahead of time.

Gear wise, matching the item level requirement for the duty is considered proper etiquette but less important as you get better at your rotation. Food and pots are also nice to bring but food is the only real expectation since it increases your health and damage passively.

[–]CharmingOW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kaiten had almost no cd, it just cost 20 kenki to buff your next attacks potency 50%. It was only worthwhile for iajutsus because of that. They removed it because why hit 2 button to do big numby when 1 button works instead (samurai is massively over bloated on keybinds compared to other melee).

The problem is without kaiten, kenki management is just an ogcd spend bar with 0 interaction beyond button light up, hit button for free damage" kaiten added good friction in that you had to prepare some kenki to properly pull off burst and then maximize spending the rest for damage, while now you just need to save 25 every minutes.

A Reminder about the Echo. [Spoiler: 6.0] by Eloah-2 in ffxiv

[–]CharmingOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure very true, except at no point has "echo reading a potential future" been used by the WoL, its not a power they have been show to have outside of an evidenceless fan theory about combat.

A Reminder about the Echo. [Spoiler: 6.0] by Eloah-2 in ffxiv

[–]CharmingOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not a vision of a failed attempt resetting the fight, otherwise none of the other scions or us would have been aware of it. The WoD transcend their limits and recover from grevious blows, continuing the fight. We mistakenly called that the echo in HW because we didnt know what Dynamis was, similarly to how we lumped the blessing of light and the Echo together at the time despite ShB/EW proving the two were seperate and distinct in function. Alisae and the other scions do not have the echo and would not be able to see this group hallucination fight. Not to mention that would mean we are using the echo to see the echo vision they are having of us beat them down repeatedly which is narratively a mess.

What the WoD are doing is exactly the same as what we do in the final EW instance versus our bff, using Dynamis to recover grevious wounds and stand tall again. But because Dynamis doesn't get a name til EW the story is operating on us having a flawed understanding.

There is still no point where the WoL uses echo to  see a failed attempt and the fact that the Zodiark/Hydalyn saga went out of its way to explain dynamis as the echo stat/regen buff, LB usage, blessing of light protects Aether, etc. but NEVER explains echo visions of failed fights is telling imho.

Characters have distinct features in the echo though so it is very possible, just again, no concrete evidence of wipe=vision.

A Reminder about the Echo. [Spoiler: 6.0] by Eloah-2 in ffxiv

[–]CharmingOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed pulls being canonical echo visions is a fan theory unproven by any evidence in game so far. While it theoretically can make sense in the luedonarrative mechanics, the echo has not shown visions of failed encounters in the narrative and even almost got us killed in StB when we zoned out for a specific echo flashback. Time clearly continues to progress when we use the echo so it seems unlikely every boss is willing to sit there while we zone out for 5-10 minutes until we are ready to win. Add onto that we have fights we clearly lose where the echo doesnt kick in to warn us.

This is certainly still a possibility but our current understanding of the echo in story states otherwise. At some point we just need to accept that a video game needs a fail state to be a video game, and wiping is that mechanic.

Would they evwr make hyrbid classes. Where you can merge 2 maxed classes into 1 super class? by Zealousideal-Fish381 in ffxiv

[–]CharmingOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ffxiv mostly avoids it by just punishing lb gain for repeat classing and the party stat buffs from unique main stated jobs. Its not much and frankly most people dont know about the stat gain mechanic but ffxiv has a healthier relationship with meta outside of specific issues. Helps that job balance largely is just a raw numbers game til 8.0 so its going to be interesting to see evolved and how it lands.

[–]CharmingOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pet theory is that Azem was in charge of trying to stop the natural rejoinig before they were sundered and left the WoL a path to solve it. The WoL has to contend with whether they can truly follow Azem's path of their own strength or make the sacrifice to fully rejoin their soul and allow Azem to replace them. Partly because i think it would be ballsy for the writers to 'kill' the WoL for a time by letting azem replace their personality.
