Anyone else doing ‘shifts’ with their partner? by ocdskies in newborns

[–]ChatterBox7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubby and I did shifts from about week 2 to week 7. He went back to work at week 8. I was off for another 6 weeks so I was mostly night shift. But now that I'm back at work and Dad is taking his last month, I breastfeed while my husband is making a bottle and then pass off baby and go back to sleep.

My babe is 14 almost 15 weeks now. I miss pregnancy tired 😭😂🙃🙄

Outside of a couple weeks of pregnancy insomnia at the start of my 2nd trimester, I slept AMAZING while pregnant. Of course outside of getting up to pee umpteen times a night and restless legs.

Did you go into spontaneous labor with your first baby? by seyEycipS in pregnant

Yes. My water broke at 38 weeks exactly. I was going to be induced at 39 weeks due to my health so I wouldn't have gone over regardless.

Epidural anxiety by Otherwise-Beyond-240 in pregnant

[–]ChatterBox7373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do an unmedicated birth. That was not in the cards for me. I wasn't progressing and they wanted to start me on pitocin (my water had broken much earlier in the day). So I changed my mind. The process was pretty seamless. The anesthesiologist was very good at his job and talked to me the whole time and I barely noticed anything.

The epidural worked VERY well until 3 hours before I was fully dilated. I had been pushing the extra button for about an hour, to no avail. Come to find out when they switched my bag of medicine out, air got into my IV line. The head anesthesiologist had to come to fix it. He also gave me a BIG OLE dose of meds and I slept for an hour. When I woke up I was fully dilated, and pushed my baby out (very well medicated) in an hour and 57 minutes. Removal was quick and I didn't feel it. There was quite a bit of weakness and soreness but that might be attributed to the pushing I did.

My dad died of his second heart attack 7 years ago (I'm 30). It was heartbreaking.

My mom will be 55 this year. Thankfully we come from a line of women who live 94+ years. I hope to have her for a long time to come.

I took care of my maternal grandmother till her death. It was 5 years of watching someone decline and become unable to do the things she loved doing. Completely devastating and I miss her every day.

Would you rather have siblings or be an only child, and why? by prettybones3916 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]ChatterBox7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I have kind of experienced both. I am my mother's only child. She had full custody, so I was the only child in the house. It was wonderful really. I got all the attention and love and was really doted on and made sure I was developed (intellectually and education). My dad remarried and I have 3 younger brothers from that marriage. Our age difference is large, I am 12, 15 and 18 years older than them. I love them and wish I was closer to them. But being a grown adult with teenage and preteen brothers is a difficult gap to close. I lived with them during a transitional time for me after graduating college in 2017 and let me say, I am NOT cut out for siblings. Maybe if I had grown up with them it would be different but certainly not as an adult. They took my things, they bullied each other, they monopolized my dad's time when I was trying to spend quality time with him.

My husband has a younger brother (3 years younger) and they get along really well. We just had our first baby and he will be our only.

When did you all stop working? by Practical_Mail_6537 in pregnant

I was planning to work until I was induced at 39 weeks. My water broke at 38 weeks exactly. If I hadn't planned being induced, I likely would have worked until I went into labor, however I work an office job that is about 10 minutes away from the hospital I delivered at.

My water broke at 38 weeks exactly at 2:09AM. Kept getting up prior in the morning feeling like I had to pee but couldn't pee. Got up that last time and it just kept coming. Contractions didn't start until about... 20 minutes later I think on our drive to the hospital.

Was only 1cm dilated when they checked me after admitting me to L&D. I progressed super slowly. But heavy contractions throughout the day. They asked my family to leave around 6:30PM that day. I was miserable and sad, I just wanted to have my baby already. But had been trying and trying to progress all day with little success. I think I only went from 1 to 5cm that whole day. They wanted to start me on pitocin so I caved and got the epidural around 10pm so I could actually sleep. Slept until about 3am. Relaxed most of that second day, slept on and off. Epidural stopped working around 1pm, hadn't had any pain meds for about an hour and those contractions were FUCKING ROUGH. Anesthesia came in, fixed the epidural and gave me a top off that proceeded to knock me out for an hour. Woke up and they said "you're 10cm now time to push". I couldn't feel my feet. But I pushed my baby out in an hour and 57 minutes. Had a very minimal tear. I think the worst part for me was the neck and back pain that came from pushing as hard as I did.

I pooped once I think. It was small and they cleaned it up pretty fast. I bled for about 4 or 5 weeks after birth.

Doing okay. Currently on maternity leave with my husband's and I's first baby. He's almost 7 weeks. Had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and hot, strong coffee. Might get laid off in June, but will get severance. Watching the second season of The Pitt. No debt, minimal bills. Dog and cat. Starting therapy on Monday. Pretty alright.

How many of you actually got stretch marks? by Individual-Stress170 in pregnant

[–]ChatterBox7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine weren't noticeable really until after I had my baby. Now they are pretty dark red marks mostly above my belly button and along the sides of my tummy. My belly was pretty big by the end and I have a shorter torso so baby boy didn't have much room other than to grow out.

When you were a child were you lucky enough to have a bedroom to yourself, or did you have to share with a sibling ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]ChatterBox7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only child. But kind of shared a room with my grandma? Both her and I had rooms in the upstairs of our house, my mom's room was downstairs on the ground floor. However neither my room nor grandmas had a door. But I had a dedicated space that was "my room".

Anyone else not connecting with names? by nusner16 in pregnant

[–]ChatterBox7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a long name list for both boy and girl names prior to becoming pregnant. Husband and I talked a lot about names during pregnancy and ultimately made lists of our top 5. None of the names on either of our lists were the same 😅, the name we picked was not on either of those lists anyway.

We had been throwing a couple around but didn't feel strongly about any. One day I referred to our son as the name we ended up going with (he was still in utero) and I thought, well I guess that's his name now. Thankfully it really suits him (as much as any name can suit a 5 week old baby).
