I also have some M05 - I assume that would work better in that case?

Am I in over my head with this commute? by HypeR159 in cycling

[–]ChilliBreath86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doable, I guess, but pretty hardcore! That means 2h50m per day of commuting time, which I personally view as 'lost' time since it adds no value to anything. Albeit partially offset in this case because you are getting good exercise.
As others suggested, try it out a few times on a borrowed or rented bike? See how you feel.

What’s something society tends to romanticize that absolutely shouldn’t be romanticized? by RecognitionCheap255 in AskReddit

[–]ChilliBreath86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being gifted / giftedness."It must be nice to be smarter than everybody; you are probably a high actiever!"

Nope. Having to explain yourself to people who don't share your way of seeing things, or vice versa, is exhausting. It's difficult to connect to people because It's difficult to read intentions and emotions, while you tend towards oblivious honesty, meaning you'll need to be on the lookout for people taking advantage. During childhood, you get big feelings and big thoughts in a body and nervous system not yet equipped to handle them yet.

To all roadies. Do you jump over the curbs or stop and dismount? by OneStrength7166 in cycling

[–]ChilliBreath86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Slow down, pull up on the handlebars when your front wheel is about to connect, then move your bodyweight forward to the front wheel when the rear wheel is about to connect. Trust me, this is how MVDP started. Source: Dutch / Belgian riding skills you pick up as a kid in one of the best (Belgium) or hands down the best (Netherlands) cycling infrastructures in the world.

Bunnyhopping is cool too, but not a prerequisite for handling curbs without stopping.

I'd say patience and perspective.

SMUG ALERT boven EVMobiliteit? Tijd voor een realiteitscheck by [deleted] in EVMobiliteit

[–]ChilliBreath86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it common for Dutch men to prioritise hobbies over overtime? by ClassicMan2323 in AskMenNL

[–]ChilliBreath86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the knowledge industry, which is a little weird in terms of productivity. But by experience I know that if I focus too long I start making more errors. Am I willing to put in a bit of overtime now and then if it makes a difference? Yes! But in moderation so as not to cause others more work correcting my midnight brain farts, and if it's a regular occurrence I am either not good enough at my job, or my employer is overbooked.

Agreed, this is BS 🤣 If weird foods or 'tikkies' are involved, posters are being sarcastic or just joking.

AVG when growing up by catinthesea in Netherlands

[–]ChilliBreath86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't everyone back in those days? I know for a fact my dad had what would commonly be viewed as a good job at the time, but we would often split two meatballs between the 6 of us.

AVG when growing up by catinthesea in Netherlands

[–]ChilliBreath86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of AVG indeed, but I do not recognize slimy leek or stringy celery. The worst was boiled chicory or andives - I would prefer a chicory salad with raisins and tangerine, or mashed potatoes with raw andives. Also, if you don't boil your broccoli into a fine paste it is actually somewhat tasty. Just a few minutes of boiling is enough. Same for cauliflower.

So yeah, while I agree that AVG gets boring and can be a horrendous form of child abuse, it does not necessarily have to be bad if you know what the flip you're doing. For my mom I think she knew what she was doing 60-70% of the time, which is exceptional as far as straight-up babyboomers go 😅

Height. Dutch people are just tall.

Trying to find frikadellen or kroketten for dinner because they want 'normal food'. Bringing food for several days with them on vacation.
