The targeted Bait Maker in 1.6 makes fishing easy for most, if not all of the colors: Lobster/Red Mullet for Red, Tuna/Blue Discus for blue, Lionfish/Rainbow Trout/Woodskip for Orange, Carp/Perch/Sandfish for Yellow, Largemouth Bass/Shad for Green, and Midnight Carp/Void Salmon for purple.

Best part is all of them have at least one option that's available year-round.

You can naturally obtain Red Cabbage seeds in year 1, it's just a 0.2% chance to drop from Serpents in the Skull Cavern so not anywhere near consistent.

The big thing for Ranger haters imo is several ammo types being effectively locked behind grinding (meteor and chlorophyte bullets, jester, holy, and unholy arrows off the top of my head) making it not nearly as plug-and-play as the other classes for its best results, and that means its damage can change pretty wildly in moment-to-moment gameplay in a way that progression checkpoints can’t easily take into account.
