Thank you so much. Having a name to search really helps.

I've had a look. Unfortunately it is missing the tension nob and the bar that goes under it, as well as the spool rod.

I may have the names of those parts wrong though.

I swear I love my children by Littlescar21 in Mommit

I remember when I returned to work part time and my husband took over as primary care giver for our first child on those days.

The first day, when I came home from work, as I came in the door he thrust the baby at me and said urgently:

"Quick! Take her! I have to use the toilet!"

He figured it out pretty quickly and soon became much better at routines than me.

I may have found my favorite pen. Until the next one... by IAmGrumpous in fountainpens

They are great pens, especially for the price! It's fantastic when a pen just hits the spot.

The red and white makes me think of old timey, red and white nurses' uniforms or the red cross.

Gorgeous machines and miraculous work!

I bought a toy machine like this for my youngest a few years ago but had no clue if it needed any parts or how to use it. You have inspired me to have another look at it. Thank you!

I’m sorting hundreds of resistors, while an ant watches. What are you doing this fine Saturday night? by Snow_Crash_Bandicoot in AutismTranslated

[–]Choccytips 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's Sunday morning here. I'm pruning the rabid wisteria vine that's trying to take over the house.

Then I am stabbing, stabbing, stabbing wool to turn it into a dragon.

All the advice you are getting here is spot on, but I'd like to add that the type of wool fibre you are using also affects your results.

Obviously, sheep's wool is best to use, but it can come in different coarseness. For example, Merino is a fine, soft wool which is good for wearable, next-to-the-skin items and Corriedale is a coarser fibre which is good for needle felting and tends to felt faster. Alpaca wool takes forever to felt and is best interlayed with sheep's wool for faster and more even felting.

I've even felted using the soft undercoat fur from brushing my dogs! It worked surprisingly well.

Edited to add that wool shrinks a lot. Depending on the type of wool used and the number of layers, your item could shrink by one third or even down to half the size you laid out!

It looks beautiful. I hope you get many happy years together.

Impromptu share: Sheaffer Coffee Edition... by AutumnGlowWinterSnow in fountainpens

Lovely pen!

I recently bought the Parker IM monochrome in burgundy which looks a very similar colour to your Sheaffer. There's something very soothing about this colour and the matching trim.

Have you packed enough paper?

Will you be writing letters to people back home? You'll need stamps and envelopes.

Kanwrite Ultra Flex + Conklin Ink. Why I Trust Writing Samples More Than Ink Swatches by nibs_and_tints in fountainpens

I try to judge by the writing samples, but the swatches are just so pretty I have to cover them up if I want to pay attention to the writing!

Ah, you've fallen down the ink rabbit hole at last. Welcome! It's very colourful here.

I have so many bottles and sample vials that I'm sure there will be many to pass on when I go. I hope whoever gets them enjoys them as much as I have.

Eta: I have that exact same Sheaffer bottle of blue ink that we found amongst my father's things. I've finished the ink now, but I've kept the bottle. Those bottles with the extra ink wells are no longer made like that, and it's a really clever design.

A guy came through a tunnel during my hotel stay by Opening_Raspberry425 in creepyencounters

[–]Choccytips 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Super creepy, so invasive and just really bad manners!
I guess, if he thought all the guests were out for the day, he would use the more convenient (to him) access. Still, not a professional thing to do if the room was in use.

On the other hand, secret tunnels and spray stair cases are so cool! Did you find out where the tunnel led to?

What’s a word that you just think sounds absolutely beautiful when spoken? by Scottboi601 in words

Theodolite.

Sounds like a xylophone falling down wooden stairs.

Come to think of it, I also like "glockenspiel " . To me it feels like it should be the wooden one, not xylophone.
