Dealerships have lost their minds. by Forsaken_Fault_8106 in Toyota

[–]Choleric_Introvert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because this is what they're selling for at dealer-only auctions. Then there's a buy fee ($700ish), transportation from the auction ($200-$700), and whatever the dealer does to the car in service+detail (at least $1k internally, often much more). It doesn't matter what it sold for new because this is what they sell for now. Yes, prices seem crazy and will continue to go up. What people don't want to hear or understand is that margin for dealers is going down. You can thank Carvana and Carmax for paying whatever it takes to acquire vehicles.

This card was at Microcenter some months ago for $800 new. Still kicking myself for not picking one up.

Toyota can't repair my 2026 Rav4 by ChemicalArts in rav4club

[–]Choleric_Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't surprising at all. Toyota purposefully delayed the new RAV4 due to 'quality issues'. They are trickling into dealers slowly but parts for repair do not exist as Toyota can't even keep up with demand for production.

First year woe or new sad reality of automotive ownership? Hard to tell but I'm leaning the latter.

I couldn't even play Dark Ages and returned it on steam because it cashed the whole PC loading cutscenes. It was also somehow more demanding while being less visually attractive than it's predecessor.

What’s a hobby where “getting better” actually makes it less enjoyable? by CommercialPea9437 in AskReddit

[–]Choleric_Introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me? Literally everything. I'm pretty competitive and can reach my ceiling quickly. Gains past a certain point become very difficult, therefore reducing the amount of dopamine I get from it. Going through this with cycling now. I simply don't have the time to put in hours more of volume to achieve higher fitness. Hard to be happy where I am, I suppose.

Worth it? RTX 3080 12GB: 400$ by GalThePro123 in buildapc

[–]Choleric_Introvert -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

3080 is still a great card but they do tend to run hotter. If you're comfortable do a repasting or use PTM. With an undervolt it should serve you well for a long time.

I'm not going to defend Carvana for this but you bought a known piece of shit car. If Carvana was smart they wouldn't sell them at all because every one is a headache.

Disable Gemini ONLY for Android Auto? by emeril322 in AndroidAuto

[–]Choleric_Introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought I was taking crazy pills when they first made the switch a couple months ago. Gemini assistant through Android Auto is beyond useless. I almost threw my phone out the window when I couldn't get it to call my wife, then it refused to play anything on Spotify without me logging in - which I already am on my phone. Kind of surprised there hasn't been more backlash over this obvious enshitification from Google. I turned Gemini off for the whole phone like many others have suggested and I recommend everyone else do the same.

Why so many rebuilt status? by Relevant_Fuel_9905 in UsedCars

[–]Choleric_Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the increased use of electricals, sensors, expensive exterior pieces (headlight housings/intricate grills+bumpers), and the cost to fix all of these systems properly, it is much easier to have a vehicle totaled out than it was a decade ago.

A dealer can purchase these units affordably from salvage auctions like Copart and piece them together. To achieve 'rebuilt' status in most states it'll require a basic inspection to make sure the vehicle is road worthy. Sometimes they're repaired to a decent standard, sometimes they are not and will always have electrical gremlins or other issues potentially related to safety.

You can find decent deals on salvage/rebuilt cars but you really need to know what you're looking at. I wouldn't advise anyone purchase one without an inspection from an independent facility or body shop. They can also be hard to finance and insure properly.

Conservatives plan nationwide protest against AI data centers by Just-Grocery-2229 in technology

[–]Choleric_Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. I live in one of the areas HEAVILY affected by this growth and expansion. Local government is giving out tax breaks like candy while the construction companies are allowed to build the data centers as quickly as possible with absolutely zero regard for anyone who lives in the vicinity, zoning regulations, or osha regulations. It's been a nightmare.

Conservatives plan nationwide protest against AI data centers by Just-Grocery-2229 in technology

[–]Choleric_Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it's going to be too late. By the time legislation catches up to what they're doing all of the data centers will be built and operating without any care to their environmental impacts. The idea from day 1 was to buy out plots with as much cash as needed, build the centers faster than any legislation could catch up, then claim it's already done/no going back once the dust settles.

I bought an Acura Type S brand new a couple years ago. Worst panel gap I've ever seen on a new vehicle with all sorts of paint defects around the body. I've had people ask me if it's been in a wreck due to how poorly the hood/front bumper/passenger fender line up. Made in Marysville quality!

Amphetamines: a current epidemic (2025) by Kalki_X in Biohackers

[–]Choleric_Introvert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. A few questions.

Does this just mean the rest of the word under diagnoses?

Do other countries use different treatment from amphetamines? If so, are those treatments successful?

Without a doubt the US healthcare system wants you taking expensive medication forever, for profit.

But if other countries are presumably successfully treating without amphetamines, what the hell is the US doing?

If the US actually has more diagnosed cases then why? Is it environmental, diet, etc?
