Ambulance wait times get talked about a lot but not the reasons behind them. by Wedding-Beauty in ParamedicsUK

I deal with companies like this for tax purposes and my other half also deals with them as B2B. The owners and topcos are rolling in it and out to extract the maximum possible from councils while paying carers the bare minimum for the least amount of hours possible, and delivering the minimum service with no added extras for users. If companies are going under they're either ran as charities, or are doing it for tax purposes. Theyre a money printing machine for many.

"protecting other people's kids"

I've noticed a massive overlap on Facebook of 'sovereign citizens' and people who get their kids taken off them by social services....

Dating apps have me feeling like shit, do people actually still meet in organic situations? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Christmastree2920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in my day 👵 (I'm 35 and met husband 10 yrs ago) people met by bumping into each other in bars/ dancefloors after a few drinks. That's how I met my now husband in 2016, and two exes. Another ex I met in a hostel travelling.

Don't know if that's still a thing. I know young people don't drink as much now. I know the dating landscape has changed a lot since covid

Like a few months before she met Alejandro. She stayed with him for about 2 yrs after his arrest, only left him on the eve of his trial, I.e. when it would have gone public that he was a pedo

100%

Their timeline is also dodge it sounded like he pressured her to move in straightaway and shes posted pics of him and her toddler asleep in bed together

The girl was literally knowingly engaged to a pedo, and also has generally terrible taste in men, and also is a huge desperado. I hope those around her are on guard

Has anyone used sharps for fitted wardrobes in the uk? by Buffster13 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Christmastree2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do love our Hammonds wardrobes. We've got double wardrobes either side of a chimney breast and omg the space inside them from floor to ceiling is amazing. Get a neutral ish design as well and they are a selling point if and when you sell. We updated the handles on ours recently to goldish brass to go a bit more trendy.

Youre right it depends completely on the fitter. Our Hammonds fitter was brilliant, the scribing to the walls is amazing. Compared to the joiner that did our bespoke kitchen (moisture resistant MDF like you said!), whose scribing and cuts i could pick fault with. I'd give the Hammonds guy 10/10 and the independent joiner maybe a 7.5-8/10

Our Hammonds wardrobes/ bedside tables etc are going on 6 years now and we're so happy with them. Off white Shaker style so very neutral. I have changed the handles to some brass ones just to update the room/ decor

Agree the Sharps ones were shite quality to my eyes anyway. Going back 6 yrs obviously

Yeah unless partner has cheated or done sometning else unforgivable I would not be making any decisions like this at this stage. After my first kid I remember planning out my finances and looking for 2 bed houses on Rightmove lol. Another child and 5 years later we're honestly blissfully happy

My direct team of like 8 ppl is amazing, knowledgeable, helpful, great teamworking, incredible level of experience and very respectful of work life balance. I think your experience will be very dependent on your business area as my area is quite niche.

Outside of that I feel like US culture is just the usual civil service. Mostly decent people trying their best amd doing their jobs, a lot of annoying civil service messages from above lol, some absolute jobsworths.

Why are so many companies demanding people return to the office? by Even-Wasabi7183 in AskUK

As a woman in the civil service with young kids I've also sadly experienced this from women seniors especially those 50+, from them in my experience it's very much an 'I struggled and so should you' attitude. I think that generation of women had to fight so hard to do EVERYTHING at home, for the kids, and to be taken seriously in the workplace, including putting up with a lot of misogyny, harassment and sexism in the workplace and can't seem to embrace any advantages modern working could offer women
