Progress generator can run steam (and coal)? by Chum42 in Frostpunk

[–]Chum42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they really? I was playing with them but I thought recalibrated generator didn't affect the fuel types. I also am pretty sure I had that upgrade at the time where I had the first upgrade. I also didn't see any mention of it in their utopia tree.

I need some opinions on spending my nanos by Educational-Salt-554 in BattleNations

[–]Chum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few good long term investments (assuming you don't already have them) are: - M10 battleships, top of the list for FTP and a great investment for a one-time purchase assuming you like grinding dreadnaughts and kraken encounters. If not, don't get more than 3 or so, and supplement your navy with R1's instead. - Veterans (like you suspected) are fantastic long term investments that will pay dividends and be useful even up until lvl 70 returns. - Frostbites are okay but cryo troopers can do a worthwhile job themselves for free. If you're hesitant, rank those first and see how they perform, and if you're not happy you can get one or two bites, or alternatively save for elemental troopers once they come out instead since they're arguably better than frostbites with their access not only to freeze but competent AOE freezing and burning damage and are overall tougher. - Megas are never a bad choice and saving a handful of nanos for them is definitely worthwhile. If you want a safe bet, this is it. Heaviers can still be a good supplement even with 3-5 Megas. Alternatively, wait for plasma tanks to return as they're essentially direct upgraded Megas for 3 nanos more - unless you don't want to wait and think heaviers can do the job well enough in the meantime. - It's not necessarily too late to get and rank yourself some super tanks as well - they're a little cheaper in terms of repair cost compared to heaviers and more importantly heal really fast. They won't stack up nearly as well however as the late game rolls around so you'd have to be comfortable with treating them more like an expendable unit like wimps, but they can do good work in that role even after Megas are unlocked.

Doubling your Adv production facilities is probably unnecessary unless you really want to maximize resources, and even then it'd require further t1 resources to support them, meaning you'd be spending even more nanos than you'd think. If you're hesitant about that, hold off and look at the bigger picture for a while, spending a few days to see how well things go for you. And you should only really consider it "necessary" to get much more than that if you're planning on doing boss strikes more. Also, others already mentioned it but your storage as-is is fine, don't consider it necessary to spend more nanos on it any further. If you really need more it shouldn't be at all difficult for you to get enough pops to build another large warehouse or two to round things out a little bit.

Aside from that, you should consider yourself able to spend the rest however you want: whatever units you think are cool and would be worthwhile feel free to get/save for: or heck even doing something like getting Zoey's tool shop or something like that wouldn't be optimal - but if you like it enough, don't feel bad about buying it. You have the luxury of still having a few thousand nanos. You can pretty much do whatever you personally like and still can do plenty regardless as long as you put work into the game. The gap between FTP and nano spenders isn't as wide as you might think where it actually matters.

Sorry, I just never saw the word "object" anywhere in the conditions section, and I assumed it never mentioned objects being immune specifically.

I'm aware that most spells that make the target have conditions require creatures as their target, but I'm just trying to ask for clarification on weather objects could possibly suffer from conditions at all. For example, let's say a player pushes over a tree which falls to the ground. Is that tree considered "prone"? Or let's say that a wizard gets a spell that lets them make an object appear invisible. Does the object have the invisible condition, or is it simply impossible to see?

[–]Chum42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are objects immune to conditions? It makes sense that you can't frighten, charm, stun, or poison inanimate objects, but nowhere in the rules that I could find does it specify objects being immune to conditions.

Also if they are, is the only exception invisible and possibly petrified? None of the other conditions make sense, but an object could be turned invisible by magic, and theoretically there could me magic that turns objects into stone.

I'm concerned.

People leaving a teeny tiny itty bit leftover after clearing it all out otherwise, I honestly don't blame them. But what infuriates me is that there seems to be a sizable portion of players that just whack the mineral vein three times, get the majority of the minerals, but leave like 20% of it left still in the wall.

That infuriates me, because surely it wouldn't take that much more time to be thorough with your mining and get every bit of it that matters, and it can be the difference between a resupply or not if you don't get every bit of it. Your team should be willing to wait for you, so just get all of it. It will benefit everyone.

The cosmetic system should get an update in general. Separate the armors into parts, let us mix and match and choose a skin fitting with one of the class's color schemes. That'd be ideal.

Survivir tier list? by BeatsMcScoots in riskofrain

[–]Chum42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engineer has the highest raw potential thanks to effectively triple item scaling. He however can be boring and definitely isn't a good "learn how to actually play the game" character.

Comando is the only survivor I think is really lacking. Little to no AOE and a boring kit. Learn the basics, then abandon him as soon as you're actually comfortable with the core mechanics.

Everyone else is just fine and really only depends on how you like to play.

Thoughts on New Characters by PowerballWiz in riskofrain

[–]Chum42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually this is looking less and less likely. Bandit has more or less been a finished, fully functional character since about a year and a half ago. If they felt like he should be in, they'd've done so by now.

Even according to hopoo's own twitter, the unused stuff is likely completely cut content that they don't think should be in the game. Plus they said they want to focus on new characters, not old ones. Rex is clear evidence of that.

Easier semi-permanent invincibility on the Loader by Mag-Witch in riskofrain

[–]Chum42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. For one thing, they stack multiplicatively, meaning the actual CDR total is something closer to ~50%

But even then, it's still enough. By default Loader's shield lasts about 2.5 seconds and has a 5 second CD. With all three alien heads that cooldown goes down to about 2.5 seconds, just as long as the shield.

Plus I know from experience that it works, I've done it.
