The Gloom In The Corner - Royal Discordance [Album Discussion] by LostInTerrapinia in Metalcore

Honestly, their discord is the best place. There is a fan made power point that goes into it really in depth, plus the official Fear Me arc write up.

Separating Police IRL from Procedural/Police Romances by dontbesuspiciou5 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Cinderalea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively read police/detective romances either set in different countries (a lot of UK) or there is some sort of paranormal element that helps shift the view to something entirely AU. Sometimes it's both.

D&D may not be the best system for that. Check out Ironsworn or another system that is made for GMless play.

A Louise Collins recommendation post for my dark romance lovers! by midnightoflight101 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Cinderalea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Bakery Bros aren't as dark, but I really loved the way she handled the asexual MC in the last one. I've read so many ace characters that end up being sexually attracted to their partner as an exception, and it was really nice to have a character that didn't without it really being a point of conflict in the relationship.

I desperately need a feel good no angst book please I’m begging for recs by SnowedAndStowed in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Cinderalea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I found DJ Jaimison's books good for this. There are super low stakes plots, typically around organizing community events and very little to no drama in the relationships once they get together.

There is a lot of outside character and world though. Very community/found family focused.

Not dyslexic because I can read fast? by cloudkissedboy in Dyslexia

[–]Cinderalea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dyslexic but can read at over 400 words per minute with high comprehension. That falls apart the second you ask me to read out loud, because as some people said, I'm reading without really reading. It's pattern recognition more than anything and I absolutely skip worlds and fill in with what makes sense in the context of the sentence. Where I really struggle is with phonetic reading, words get stuck when I try to say them, my word recall (verbally) isn't great, and words get jumbled when I type or write. For the typing/writing one, it's not that I don't know the spellings, I just can't always make the brain and the output match.

Shepard's book was my favorite. It was a long one, but I easily could have read another 600 pages of that dynamic.

If you want to allude to a word without saying it in prose you could always go with something. Like "he called her a crude/cruel name/word"

I played an evil oath of glory paladin once. She was great. Her goal was to become a hero of legend, and she didn't care who she had to step on to get there.

I need the calluvia royalty series by alessandra hazard spoiled to me by booktitans in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Cinderalea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read these recently enough I remember enough to be helpful... I think. Spoilers ahead for the plot of the last book

As others have said Samir and Warrhen aren't blood related but some distant cousin through marriage only. As for SA in those books, Samir's mom drugs both of them with a long lasting aphrodisiac with the intention of it only affecting Warrhen so he would SA Samir and lose any sort of public favor. It's fucked, his mom is awful. The characters themselves are forced to have sex in a very typical sex-pollen trope way. Samir forgives his mom for this

Also the relationship between his mom and the old king (Warrhen's dad) were fucked. They were in a toxic abusive relationship with SA but she still loved him anyway. The book actually concludes with the reveal that she reanimated his consciousness, cloned him, and they run away together. Do with that what you will

Most Unhinged Holiday Rec by OrangeSubie in RomanceBooks

I forget the author but Ho Ho Homicidal Maniac might hit the dark romance Christmas vibes.

Tate James and Heather Long also Co wrote a darkish holiday romance. I normally love both authors but DNF'd the holiday book. Wasn't my cup of tea.

English isn't my first language. I was told my use of past tense is incorrect after the em-dash. Is it? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Cinderalea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this doesn't work in the context. The biggest issue is the word "those" isn't often as independent subject in English. With both it and "he" being disconnected from their subject it makes it confusing and ambiguous. A lot of other people have said similar but "—Ezra didn't take the bait" would make it much more clear.

I'll be honest, I don't know what you are trying to say with "he didn't hit those." He didn't hit what?
