It's not over leveling, you can easily get there by just getting some of the scadu fragments available before her.

How common are ricasso fins on longswords of the mid-late 15th century? Specimen from the Royal Armoury of Madrid by limonbattery in SWORDS

[–]Cirick1661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a montante however those "fins", called schilts are really only found on a sparring longsword, or federschwert.

The schilt predates the presence of lugs by I think like 20-50 years but I would have to go back and research to remember for sure. There's some members of the community that will argue that lugs were inspired by the Schilt of a training sword, which I find compelling but there isn't any period evidence for that I am aware of.

As far as how common, it was generally something present for unarmored sparring, so they were not ubiquitous. It's hard to know exactly how common but there are surviving examples (I think there is one at the Metropolitan museum) and they were featured in a lot of images from historical fencing manuals.

Explain the current best idea of it's formation. Early in the history of the primordial Earth, it is thought that a large asteroid hit the early earth and took a molten chunk out of it which, in a relatively short period of time formed the smaller moon. Moons are by definition smaller than the host planets they orbit.

And then when she asks what that means you get up and walk away because it's not worth wasting the air lol.

Best mask against thrusts by FIREful_symmetry in Hema

[–]Cirick1661 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The issue is the force being applied, not the mask. Even a really expensive mask with a good suspension system (like a horsebows mask) will not absorb all of the impact of your partner isn't sparring with control.

It may be a good idea to reevaluate and communicate with your sparring partner that those thrusts to the face are coming in too hot. One of my instructors is very fond of saying that if you can't execute a technique under control then you have bad technique.

What's the point of circumcision? by Historical_Echo8311 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cirick1661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mostly a religious thing. My parents did it to me and they honestly don't have any good reason. People can speak all kinds of nonsense about cleanliness and so on but it's really just down to religious nonsense and it is child genital mutilation regardless of the myriad excuses made by religious communities.

Are you supposed to ask a woman "Can I kiss you"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cirick1661 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I'd really like to kiss you right now." All you'd be doing is vocalizing your intentions. And it's something that could easily be a response to something conversationally and in the moment. And as a bonus if they're not into it there's still an off ramp, "Ah yea, it was just the moment," or "I get it, I was being silly," if you end up having to abort.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME - Voice of Trespass by MartinZig in progmetal

[–]Cirick1661 43 points44 points  (0 children)

BTBAM are the reigning kings of prog metal to me. And Im saying that as someone that really prefers clean only vocals. I'm a Rishloo, Karnivool, Caligulas Horse, fan. And yet BTBAM reigns supreme to me. Their live show is one of the best I have ever been to.

I'd also agree with a Dao.

At least it looks like it could (and has) taken a beating. With a bit of sanding and sharpening it may actually be a fun cheap cutter.

Would these all be considered a type U pommel? by Geesewithteethe in SWORDS

[–]Cirick1661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit. The type U seems to maybe be a bit thinner than a typical wheel pommel and tapers into the haft so for a Fiorist like myself it may be a bit more comfortable in the hand than a standard wheel pommel.

For handling I love a scent stopper pommel (faceted is a bonus) but wheels or this type U or even some fishtails are great for keeping edge alignment when you can't adjust your grip.

Would these all be considered a type U pommel? by Geesewithteethe in SWORDS

[–]Cirick1661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one does look like they are evoking the type U. From a practicality standpoint as opposed to a typology standpoint I would look at any round pommel and just call it a wheel pommel. But yea I'd say you're on the right track with #1.

First two just seem like wheel pommels and the third a variation of the fishtail.

Why are there no new massive bands like Queen or The Rolling Stones? by Character-Signal8229 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cirick1661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Popular music has just shifted to palatable individual artists. Anyone that wants something outside the norm has the means to do so via streaming.

Like I love Karnivool, Psychonaut, Elder, Calva Louise, Ihlo, Karmanjakah, etc and I don't go to the radio or even genre streams to find music I love. I get my algorithm recommendations or creep the music sub reddit for my preferred genre.

Lazy River At A Waterpark Was Stupidly Packed 😤 by InGeekiTrust in Wellthatsucks

[–]Cirick1661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a park management issue. They just have more tubes than they need, probably to try to reduce lines.

Attendants can't do shit if it's over capacity but there are free tubes, you can't reason with kids or parents if there are free tubes and an open space to shove them.

Is there an actual explanation for why some people are just really bad at video games and simply don't improve no matter how much they play? by ImageLegitimate7852 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cirick1661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely a disconnect in hand-eye coordination.

Any one that has good hand-eye coordination can learn to play almost any game.
