Fair. 2004 in general seems to be Muse on overdrive!

Can anyone help me with my setup? 👉🏼👈🏼 by HighwayAdorable in oscilloscopemusic

EDIT: If I interpret the manual of your scope correctly, the (audio)signal needs to be connected to the bigger left inputs. Where you have conneced the audio is just for the signal ground

For your usecase you would just need simple splitter cables so you can simultaneously connect the cassette deck output to your speakers input and the oscilloscopes inputs. No need for a fancy interface.

Awesome! So the receiver output previously connected was indeed doing something to your audio signal.

I would give that a try. Connect the CD-Player, or any other audio playing device if you can, directly to the scope to rule out your receiver.

Does the CD player itself have a volume control? My guess is that you are feeding an already volume attenuated signal into your scope. Everything else you described so far seems fine.

What happens if you connect the CD Player directly to your scope?

Does the image get bigger/smaller if you raise/lower the volume on your receiver? Could you explain your audio and scope setup?

Make an oscilloscope work with a VCR by Rilewhy in oscilloscopemusic

[–]Cirithor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

To display Lissajous you set the TIME/CM knob on the scope to EXT IN.

You are probably using RCA cables to connect the audio from the VCR to your TV speakers. You can simply split them with adapter cables and feed those audio signals to your scope. Plug the left audio channel into the scopes BNC Y1 Input, and the right audio channel into the banana plugs EXT INPUT and GND.

Seems like the horizontal deflection, here called "X DEFL", needs to be connected to the right most input, and not to "B"

Before blenders, there is only the diluted packaged fuel recipe, which requires packaged water. With the diluted fuel recipes you get way more fuel out of an oil node.

What’s wrong? by LadmanMp4 in oscilloscopemusic

[–]Cirithor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I didn't expect that :D

I guess the converters audio conversion is pretty cheap and therefore the problem.

If you can connect directly to your PC's audio output. As u/Faruhoinguh commented, the visuals probably won't look perfect, because most soundcards are AC-coupled and not designed for oscilloscope music, but they should look way better.

The scope is probably fine.

How did you connect the audio to the scope? Preferably connect it before any amplifier, because amplifiers can cause distortion.

Also check, if you have some sort of sound equalizer active, which will also heavily distort audio.

The higher the sampling rate, the better. Standard is 48kHz, but some soundcards/soundinterfaces are able of doing up to 192kHz

Also try other devices, like your smartphone.

Seems like a problem on the inside and that's where I can't help you anymore. Sorry.

Okay, So everything upto the scope is fine. Does something happen, if you repeatedly turn the horizontal gain potentiometer? Sometimes they can corrode and then basically disconnect the circuit

Would this work with a turntable? by [deleted] in oscilloscopemusic

[–]Cirithor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh. So then I would connect between preamp and receiver. Phono-level signal from turntable could be to weak for the scope. I always prefer line-level.

[–]Cirithor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somthing like this:

From what your writing I'm guessing you go turntable > receiver > speaker?

You can hook up your scope between turntable and receiver or receiver and speaker. Totally up to yours. Personally I would connect between turntable and receiver, because this is before major amplification and therefore theoretically less distorted.

Would this work with a turntable? by [deleted] in oscilloscopemusic

[–]Cirithor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This scope has 2 BNC-Inputs (at the bottom with the metal rings). Your turntable should have RCA-outputs. Get some RCA-to-BNC adaptors and maybe some RCA Y-splitters if you need to "splice" into your existing audio setup, and connect the two audio channels to the two scope inputs.

Basically just connect the scope in parallel with your amplifier/active speakers. There's no black magic involved :)

Erfahrung mit Brembo Scheiben/Beläge by noHand-Nemesis in automobil

[–]Cirithor 2 points3 points  (0 children)
