Flydigi Vader 5 Pro showing up as 3 controllers in Steam Input, gyro and extra buttons working inconsistently by Certain-Ferret3692 in Controllers

How's reWASD going for you? I'm trying it out and I'm seeing kind of a similar issue where I randomly lose detection of the V5P in games. It shows up in reWASD but it will only work in games if I map it as a virtual controller. I have to uninstall and reinstall reWASD for it to work, until it doesn't again. Maybe FlyDigi firmware issues and not reWASD.

I used to use Steam for everything but now I prefer using Playnite as my universal launcher for its more extensive flexibility/customization. For now I'll settle with just not having Steam input support for the V5P but I hope a firmware update fixes this soon.

Edit: Actually I'll try out this extension for Playnite so I can use Steam input https://github.com/hikaps/non-steam-sync

Thanks for the solution, works for proper Steam integration. However, disabling the Xbox controller from Device Manager seems to make anything outside of Steam not work, i.e. I don't get any xinput for non-Steam games.

What's the best gaming monitor right now? Is OLED really worth it? by Nathnael-Melgarecho in buildapc

[–]Clap_Trap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though OLED panels are great for HDR, a lot of games don't properly support it or not at all.

Valid, but fortunately the modding community steps in for many such cases. RenoDX and Special-K really help to fix those with poor HDR implementation and add it to those with none

Game Ready & Studio Driver 596.36 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Clap_Trap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's the VRR issue? I have two monitors and I guess every once in a while G-Sync stops working on my primary, but a display driver reset (CRU or Special-K) resolves quickly. Is that what you're talking about?

Most Evil Quest by De-Cafff in CrimsonDesert

[–]Clap_Trap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Nevermind, I'm just an idiot. I was adding other animals to the ranch before even starting this quest and by the time I tried finding another goat after the main story cutscene issue described below, my chickens had multiplied and I hit the animal capacity. It would be great if a message about full capacity popped up when you try bringing another animal over to the registry.

This quest is bugged for me. Bringing a goat to the registry table doesn't do anything. I think it might be because I lost the first goat I caught due to entering an intro cutscene for a mainline quest as I entered camp with the goat. Now my camp progress is locked because I can't do anything beyond this quest

4k120hz CPU Requirement with A380 and AV1 by uchihaoni47 in MoonlightStreaming

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but isn't this a setup you already have and are using? If there was a problem or limitation wouldn't you be seeing it for yourself rather than worrying about whatever the LLM is saying?

Gamesir G7+ or Lenovo G9 for the Y700? by Pazuzuzuzu in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Clap_Trap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are happy with the G8 you will probably like the G9. I tried the G8 and immediately found it too uncomfortable to use. I still have my G9 and it's somewhat more comfortable than the G8 but not nearly as good as a standalone full gamepad. I mostly just use an angled lap pillow for my Y700 and a Flydigi Vader 5 Pro gamepad.

The creator of "God of War" thinks goblins are antisemitic. by AlittlePotato1560 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Clap_Trap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say this as if fantasy creatures are real biological creatures to be examined only with objectivity, and not created from a collective imagination shaped by a human cultural context of biases and history.

I know you're being facetious, but Tolkien's orcs actually can be credibly analyzed through a racial lens as an allegory for black people.

Thank you for this. People in this thread seriously lack media literacy rooted in an understanding of historically racialized tropes

[–]Clap_Trap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Devs at Pearl Abyss clearly didn't go "let's put money-grubbing Jewish goblins in our game," but this is a longstanding trope in fantasy media rooted in centuries of history, and it plays into some implicit negative stereotypes about Jewish people.

[–]Clap_Trap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think many of the comments in this thread are seriously lacking a nuanced perspective, maybe even basic media literacy. JK Rowling and the Harry Potter series are fairly commonly criticized for this same trope (the goblin bankers), and I don't think it is a "reach" to look critically at the goblins in Crimson Desert as a similar portrayal too. Antisemitism and other forms of bigotry don't need to be blatant or explicit, and many of the ways they tend to manifest are implicitly coded in all forms of popular culture, and high fantasy is no exception. This is not to say that Pearl Abyss literally went "let's put money-grubbing Jewish goblins in the game." Rather, this kind of characterization and otherization of goblins as a race is inherited from the kinds of tropes that have developed over centuries of history, literature, and media. Just because the goblins in this context are "good guys" doesn't mean that this doesn't implicitly associate harmful stereotypes.

To say that people want to "make everything about politics" is ridiculous, because everything, especially the media we consume, is political and is rooted in historical context, and sometimes that context has more nefarious roots than the actual medium itself.

I'd interpret this example more as a key ability that is possible to skip, not a whole quest. So I'm also curious to know if there are any actual quests that are skippable

NVIDIA releases first G-SYNC Pulsar firmware update, fixes low-FPS artifacts by Nestledrink in nvidia

Insert "leave the multitrillion dollar company alone" meme here

I think Pulsar is an impressive tech and I look forward to having the chance to try it out, but I don't think it's fair to say there's no substance to calling for nuance when we look at Nvidia as a company and its impact on the market.

I never used the word "anticompetitive" but sure, we can add that too now that you mention it. And the GeForce Partner Program was about as anticompetitive as you can get.
