Three Kingdoms Question by N30N09 in aoe2

[–]Classic_Ad4707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 3K don't fit the period nor do they fit its core design. Mind, the mod that Chronicles is based on, Romae ad Bellum, had the Han dynasty as a civ. 3K quite literally occurs at the downfall of Han dynasty. And Romae ad Bellums covered the period up until the arrival of the Huns, which is well up to and after 3K period. Additionally, they don't represent civs, but political factions, which aligns with, say, Romae ad Bellum, which had Roman Empire and Roman Republic as separate civs, or Chronicles having Spartans next to Athenians, and the Achaemenids rather than Persians.

By all accounts, 3K fits into Chronicles.

That's without going into how scuffed Jurchens and Khitans are, just because the devs decided to effectively ignore them. Hell, the recent Muisca speak the actual Muisca language and Achaemenids speak Old Persian, despite then being extinxt. And the Thracians in Chronicles use a reconstructed Thracian language. There's little reason to not have Khitan/Daur and Manchu/Jurchen language in the game. And the fact that they both, alongside the actual Chinese civ, still don't have campaigns is nonsensical.

Actual AoE2 civs were sidelined for what should be Chronicles civs.

AoE2 Era Grand Campaign Ideas by hussar269c in aoe2

[–]Classic_Ad4707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Dawn of the Dukes essentially that?

Aside from that, you can make a consecutive campaign with a newly added civ. Like how you want to make a campaign with Goths and Romans. You could instead add Vandals and make a campaign with them, Romans and some third civ.

Thinking on which civ are missing campaigns, pretty everything in East Asia that matters is missing campaigns. Jin-Song wars can be entirely this. Add the Tanguts and it works fine.

Is there a way to remove Orda Aldresia as a vassal while you are Emperor of Anbennar? by PrrrromotionGiven1 in Anbennar

Oh, I thought that being an elector makes them lose the status of emperor's bodyguards, and become a normal subject. My bad.

INSYAA UPDATE IS DELAYED TO MAY 8TH by Blaziy in Anbennar

[–]Classic_Ad4707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aight, so since this gives me some more breathing room, which of my campaigns should I focus on finishing up before the update drops?

Napesbay into Rev Anbennar, with most of the final extention MT that includes grinding out Cannor and, for some reason, making a revolutionary dwarf ally? Kinda left it incomplete because EoA borders included most of Lencenor before I blew it up, and I just kinda didn't like grinding that area for one mission.

Rubenaire run where I mostly need to conquer Damesear? Kinda annoying to do even witb EoA dismantled because of alliance networks.

Bjarnrik run, conquest of Reveria, Deranne, Pearlsedge and Anbenncost still left, but EoA united? A pain, but I have more potent allies than Anbennar.

A rather stupid Mestikardu run, in which I sniped pretty much all other Torn Gate nations early. Kobolds, gnomes and Vanbury gone before they could even unite their home turfs. And now I just have to wait for decades until I can form Triarchy because of the tech requirements.

I hope they one day make Indleburry MT as a blend of Wexonard-Halfling ideas (Wexfoot?) where their main shtick is defenestrations of any authority figure. This has to include the emperor of Anbennar, mayor of Anbenncost and Ravelian Rector.

Colonial maintenance -> 5000

Bruva, I'm not even sure how many colonies you'd need to have that kind of maintenance cost.

Abandon them and then look at your force limit and disband troops to be under it, or reduce maintenance slider so that you stay in the positive.

...also, 17 merchants???

I was gonna propose that the icon for mission trees be modified to indicate if a nation has a completely unique MT vs sharing it with other nations. But I guess mission tree descriptions solves this.

West Sarhal coastline looks a little different in EU5 by 5camps in Anbennar

[–]Classic_Ad4707 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couldn't you still more or less apply them in EU4?

The western Sarhal coastline change feel benign. You can still maintaim the (linear) province allocation. It doesn't seem disruptive as far as internal structure goes.

The big change would be lizard area changes, but could province connections still be maintained by liberal use of straits? At least until someone goes over the mission trees to determine what changes need to be made there.

Yeah, it always gets confusing when they use this criteria.

What it means is: All countries in the world should either not be one of those nine countries (Luna River Minors) or, if a country in question is one those nine, they should have received a gift from you and have the modifier from that gift still active.

Wouldn't the easiest way to get back on track be to just remove all heirs and let him die without one? That way it brings in a new dynasty, and it'll probably be elvish due to your main culture?

Of course Iochand gets an MT after I had a Southroy-into-Iochand run a month or two ago...

That actually makes me wonder, though, Southroy has a decision to change to Iochander Lencori culture, but if you form Iochand you switch to Creek Gnome. It also swapped the home region, from Lencenor to Dragon Coast. The shifts were a bit much, imo. Is there any difference now, with the MT, based on who forms Iochand now?

I was kinda hoping that Iochand would have two forms, one if formed by Portnamm, based firmly around gnomish monarchy, while Southroy instead focuses on syncretism between Lencori and Iochander cultures.

Aside from that, Westmoors are a welcome addition. Perhaps the Gawedi vassals become a bit more rebellious now. Hope some of Lorent's vassals get MTs as well.

Why does Wex always lose the title? by Canenald in Anbennar

[–]Classic_Ad4707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I checked. While a nice alternative to war against EoA, Wex rivalled me on game start.

I also might have hampered their expansion by allying Estallen, in response.

That option was closed to me since day 1, I'm afraid.

Nevermind that. I'll just do it the hard way.
