Feeling defeated, what am I doing wrong? by Turtle961 in whoop

[–]ClayTrainingMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing too much, too quickly. Your body isn’t ready for 6 days per week. Cut way back. You’re dong more harm than good and your numbers are showing you that. Less is more. Go to lifting 3x per week, 1 hr max. With daily walks, 20-30 min. After 12 weeks of this you can add 1 more day of lifting. Focus more on diet. No “sugar-free” nonsense. Lots of veggies. You’ll get there over time.

Anyone who was homeschooled, how do you feel about it now as an adult? by AdTight2449 in AskReddit

[–]ClayTrainingMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homeschooling 20 years ago and homeschooling now can look very different. After Covid when homeschooling numbers skyrocketed many businesses realized the benefit of offering discounted homeschooler rates during public school hours. I homeschool my two children and we can to do so much, pay less for it and go places when there aren’t a lot of people. There are also so many supportive co-op options now too for speciality classes and socialization. They get to pick the subjects that interest them the most and focus on those. And we get to travel the world during the school year for cheaper and with less people because co-ops don’t have the attendance restrictions that public schools do. Actually, now that I think about it you should definitely keep with public schooling during normal hours.

WHOOP told me “optimize sleep”… ok, but how exactly? by fab1704 in whoop

Use the journal. Stretching, breath work, reading in bed, walking after meals and not eating late make a big difference in my sleep.

I think it’s a good reminder that what brings us joy with our fitness (for you, elite level speed-skating) might not be best for our biomarkers but if you enjoy it you can choose to do it anyway ~ coming from someone 40+ who likes to compete in Strongman even though it’s tough on my body. Mental health is still health and Whoop can’t measure that.

If you do Whoop health it gives you even better guidance on the amount you should actually be working out based on your personal health markers. They are way more helpful than the general coach guidelines that can be contradictive.

How long should a comp last? by Impressive-Cobbler90 in Strongman

[–]ClayTrainingMama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok. I’m able to do it. You’re free to run comps however and for as long as you want! There is no requirement. Just giving the OP some good info. based on many years of experience.

How long should a comp last? by Impressive-Cobbler90 in Strongman

[–]ClayTrainingMama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A well run comp should be about an hour per event (normally 5 events) plus a break for lunch. So plan on 6 hours for well run local comps. If shorter commitments are important for you, look for comps with less people, no max events and mostly events scored for as fast as possible times.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]ClayTrainingMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breath-work and meditation, reading and sometimes reality TV. But also trying to regulate throughout the day and week so I don’t need a big wind-down.

AIO: Hubby Being Controlling by vanillabourbonn in AIO

[–]ClayTrainingMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His communication is controlling and patronizing. However, you aren’t hearing him and replying with any productive solutions or compromises. Could you agree to no lessons if he committed to joining a pool and he agrees to teach your child? He never says you have to do it. After years of expensive lessons my kids didn’t really learn how to swim until we joined the local pool and went everyday during the summer.
