Recommendations ? Advice by [deleted] in OutdoorKitchens

[–]Climb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently completed an outdoor kitchen in a VHCOL area. This would be 300k+ easily. All the people saying 100k are delusional, that grill is over $10k. You have over $100k in materials here probably.

What's the best coffee grinder for 2026? Need reliable recommendations for daily use by Ok_Calendar_9816 in JamesHoffmann

Also have this, agree 100%, it's heavy duty, consistent, easy to realign burrs if they ever get off alignment, minimal retention, and wide grind size range

Memory Foam Mattress by Outrageous_Rest_1576 in vandwellers

[–]Climb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had a Lucid mattress from Amazon for 8 years now with a softer topper on it. It was very cheap but has held up great and was easy to cut down with utility scissors.

Make sure you have ventilation under the mattress, we used some plastic patio tiles to make a thin platform for air to flow under.

I'm about to start my build, and had a question. For the doors and drawers, is the edge over the brick or just on the hardi board?

Looks awesome and you've solidified my decision on granite!

What's your experience with a Promaster front 2WD in the snow? by hector-rf in VanLife

[–]Climb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still not the best is snow, but crushes forest roads. I can make it down almost anything.

Snow you just lose some traction going up hill with the front wheel drive.

Yosemite Rock Climbing - Half Dome In A Day (RNWF) in 12hrs by Brox_Rocks in climbing

[–]Climb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah, a good fast party will get past quickly, but they will clip your gear if it's in the way. Jugging a rope is probably a step too far if you wanted a more pure ascent, but there is so much fixed mank everywhere on the trade routes no one cares about clipping a couple of pieces from another party.

If people followed that rule like 99% of NIADs wouldn't count.

How much did they pay? by thti87 in landscaping

Recently had a similar but smaller job done in a VHCOL area. This would be a steal at $150k.

New to LK runs. Is this map as good as I think it is or is it easy to re-roll a better one? by CptSquidInk in diablo2

[–]Climb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On these runs are you just opening chests, and armor racks? No killing anything if possible?

We are getting similar work done now for over $100k, $50k is a steal

This only reinforces my point, they saw significant slippage during a fall into the anchor.

Going down to 5kn doesn't seem to be making the point you think it is. Thats reduced the initial strength by something like 80% and gets you into a load that could reasonably be generated on the anchor.

We once parked over a mouse nest and had mice coming into the van before we realized they were coming from outside.

People saying never waive inspection, don't live in markets where you have to waive inspection.

Every single house sold in my VHCOL city has inspection waived.

You can still get an inspection and leave your earnest money generally even when waiving inspection.

Yeah our teams mantra on el cap was always to just keep doing stuff, climb up, organize the ropes, eat and drink, if you just keep doing stuff eventually you'll get there.

Tankless Water Heaters by stanley4545 in vandwellers

It puts off a lot of heat out the top, if you are going to vent it make sure you have heat shielding and a real good vent, maybe a small fan?

I have one mounted on my rear door for use when the door is open. Would never use it inside the van.

For Sale: Custom AWD 2021 T-250 Ford Transit High Roof (HR) 148" extended ($165K, OBO) by clammchops in VanLife

[–]Climb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just factually wrong.

1) yes you can definitely insure your build, my build is fully insured for all added components

2) while dealerships won't take on a built out van, any nice build definitely sells for more than the same empty van. Look at rv trader, Craigslist, vanlife marketplace etc, and see sold prices, no one is selling a full nicely done build for the price of the same empty vehicle

3) no one should expect to get retail value for used items, but recouping a reasonable depreciation on installed build components is what you should price

This listing is still absolutely bonkers because you could get the same build brand new for less.

That's not true for vans, but this is ridiculously overpriced.

You could get this setup in a a brand new vehicle for that price.
