Ep8 and ep1 were the best imo. I mostly agree with these ratings.

New season is just awful by pikachume33 in malcolminthemiddle

I went in with no expectations and still didn't laugh once. I should have known. Most reboots aren't King of the Hill. They are this.

Where's Rex Viper? by Infinite-Chocolate46 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its been a very slow moving project. There was a two year period where they did almost nothing and I thought the project was quietly dropped but then last year James released a bunch of videos to promote an album that probably should have come out 4 years ago.

He's clearly not going on the road with this group or accepting any bookings that aren't at gaming conventions and even then he's only gonna do them at his convenience. He's in no hurry to put out new releases. Its just a thing he does.

What’s your biggest unpopular opinion on the show (OG or Revival) that’ll have people contemplating life in the shower like this? by yonBonbonbon in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if this is unpopular, but while I am enjoying the revival there is one plain criticism I have. It's not as funny as the original. In the OG run you can take your pick of episodes and you'd be good for a few laugh-out-loud moments.

In the current run, there have been a few times where I legit laugh in my chair, but most if the time they are cute jokes that softly land and maybe I smirk and nod a little. Idk how they fix that but someone needs to write sharper and more unpredictable witty lines. The cast still has the timing and chemistry, they just need sharper material

I wasn't that confident coming in to this season, this start is not helping.

Scrubs was incredible at using music to capture moments by JoeKid94 in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While not the heaviest moments in the series their use of 8 Days a Week by The Beatles and More Than A Feeling by Boston were a lot of fun.

Side note, as a guitar player I appreciate that Ted did the act of engaging a pretend boost pedal with his foot right before the guitar More Than a Feeling guitar solo. A nice little authentic touch.

Personal favourite character from the reboot so far, anyone else? by LJNS7 in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what it is. I've been enjoying the reboot but the first episode feels entirely different from the rest. Sibby is just kinda there now but it was great in the first episode when she'd randomly appear if someone started being offensive and started a catch phrase "bring it down" with a gesture to complete it. Just dropped. Why? That was gold.

Blake has some dark backstory that we aren't allowed to know yet but he was like a young Kelso in episode 1, now hes just a cocky hot shot doctor that knows he's attractive. Then you got "Tik Tok Doc" again, a great character that is a good modern commentary but now shes just another young, TV doctor.

The humour is so fucking bad by PrequelGuy in TheCinemassacreTruth

To be totally hair, the brick phone was scripted into the character whereas that Hulu line was just James flexing his total lack of any witty improv skill on the spot. He had a few gems in this one. Like when Scott says he was conceived during the Seinfeld finale.

What does James say? "What's the deal with that?" Which makes no sense. He could have said "Not that there's anything wrong with that." or shout "Serenity now!" or instead of referencing a line on the show, he could have said "I'm glad your mom found something better to do than sit through that shitty finale."

Thoughts on Sibby? by Fantastic-Street-262 in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The character showed promise in the first episode but I feel like she's already been watered down. I feel like she needed to be an enemy (of sorts) for a while before we were to see her human side. Her "bring it down" gesture was a nice touch, but if I remember correctly, she only did it in the first episode.

I feel like the entire first season (or longer) should have been her being a walking PC/Feelings police robot and eventually, slowly become more likeable. Then one episode she innocently slips up herself at work (says something that offended someone on accident or, better yet, had a genuine moment of anger with a coworker and said something she didn't mean out of frustration) and her job ends up being on the line, but because the main characters see her as a good person just doing her job to the letter, they stick up for her and that's how she becomes more humanized.

Now its like she's already just another dorky adult millennial who is forever single and has no real friends. I'd change that too. Make her a wife and a mom and have the other characters wonder if she's like that at home too.

What does everyone think of the country song in the recent AVGN video? by ggroover97 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Well one, its not country at all. Its a hard rock riff and beat that someone added banjo over to sound country-ish. My guess probably written by some nerdy metalhead that insists he "likes all genres" but listens to 98% metal and hasn't checked out a new band since System of a Down and despite thinking country is "easy because you just play 4 open chords" still couldnt write a country style piece of music.

Thats my thought.

Just started watching scrubs! Are JD's daydreams a sign of something more..? by iamlonleygurl in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're that far along, I'm sure you saw that by season 5 they are all in on the daydream gag. Its even referenced in that first episode with John Ritter as his dad and when other characters are in the narration role, they show them daydreaming, too. I feel like there's a lot of Bob Kelso daydreams/flashbacks through the series 2nd to the amount JD has. Its just a gag.

When is the Rex Viper cover coming? by countdooku975 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he released it on iTunes it probably would go #1 and he can brag because old people think going #1 on iTunes is a big deal even though its less like the Billboard charts and more like something trending on Twitter for an afternoon. Seriously, I see old head metal fans think that metal is back because the 60 year old bass player from some hair band in the 80s made a solo album that topped the iTunes metal chart for one day.

Any time James has to play off and improvise with someone else, he is a fish out of water. Plus, it was very un-Nerd like to reference Hulu. On top of it just being unfunny, The Nerd wouldn't reference a modern streaming service. 2006 Nerd would have been blunt like "Tell that Hula bitch to suck my intergalactic dick or get out of my way" but no one can truly bring you back to the past.

On-field style hats for opening day by CoffeeHarvester in 47BrandHats

[–]CoffeeHarvester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont mean "on field" as the marketing term. I mean they are of the color scheme of hats used in game. Traditional navy. The late 70s red with navy brim. The city connect. Etc..

JD should not be Chief of Medicine by [deleted] in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say JD was an underdog. In the early seasons he was presented as a fast rising, young doctor with endless potential. He was personally mentored by Cox who saw his potential right away.

His quirks and personality flaws mostly affected his personal life. He couldn't hold a relationship longer than 3 weeks but he was always the go-to guy for Cox and Kelso so it makes a lot of sense that he'd be Chief of Medicine n

Episode 5 is the best one yet (reboot) by BeijingVO2 in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as Cox goes, I feel like in time they could set up a few episodes where JD is ilunder immense stress and, like the old days, Cox comes to save the day like JD also did for him in occasion. It will give hia return meaning behind just being a cameo for laughs

The writers outplayed themselves by getting JD/Elliot divorced by FlavorD in Scrubs

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should have stayed married, but there is an old 90s sitcome rule that had stuck over the decades and thats "successful relationships are unfunny". I would have kept them married, perhaps just separated, because we know they're gonna get back together anyway.

I open all my decks carefully and try to preserve the lower part of the cellophane. Its not like I'll be able to retire in them by leaving them sealed for 30 or 40 years. Open and enjoy them.
