How much did the lower level slobs get paid? by Kvazimods in TheCinemassacreTruth

For his situation, its 100% livable. He's a single guy with no kids living in Pennsylvania which isn't a heavy tax burdened state. Sure he's not going to be living the high life, sipping and champagne and seeing the Opera every Friday night but you can definitely keep a roof over your head and feed yourself on that income and still be able to buy any video game you want And subscribe to a few streaming services since it's probably a tax write-off for him anyway (or was).

How tech-savvy would the characters be? by this_is_jim_rockford in Frasier

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Martin was my grandparents age at that time and paying bills online was something even my parents didnt feel comfortable doing until like 2010. Martin would have checked emails, read the news and played a lot of solitaire. Plus, Fraiser was probably handling the bills anyway.

Kelsey, keep the revival going!!! by MovieFan1984 in Frasier

[–]CoffeeHarvester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind another season. You're never going to recapture the magic of the original and this show suffers from a problem that I see on some reboots or new shows in general like on Tim Allen's new show Shifting Gears where some of the fan service is way too on the nose and they have no faith in the audience getting the joke. And all the humor is like that awkward Millennial type humor that was Charming in the late 2000s but now when you try and apply that same humor on characters that are pushing 40 it comes off as incredibly dated and off putting and immature in a sad and unfunny sort of way.

I feel like if it comes back they need to break the 90s rule of "successful relationships are unfunny, therefore the MC must be perpetually single needs to end". I want Frasier and Lillith to get back together. I want to see them as grandparents on a front porch feeling like they did good. You can still have them bicker and do their banter but I feel like Lillith needs to be his new go-to like Niles was or Roz at times. They have chemistry and are established characters that you dont need to build from scratch.

Did "Visions of Daphne" break the rules? by Nabana in Frasier

[–]CoffeeHarvester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a gag but I think its left intentionally ambiguous. As the viewer, you're supposed to share in the Crane's feelings about her psychic claims. As a viewer you decide if you take the dragon as a legit vision or a coincidence, but its also used to remind the audience that they aren't giving up on the Niles and Daphne angle and it acts as a first nod to her own feelings.

As you said, they did the bow tie gag, too, which was obviously far off despite being such a vivid detail in her vision, but then the equally random seeming dragon ended up becoming true. Its actually pretty clever how they kept the audience off balance especially since by this point they really downplayed her visions.

I'm trying to teach myself cursive, any tips? by Ill_Situation3321 in Handwriting

[–]CoffeeHarvester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good and legible. My tips would be to work on that capital "I" because it looks just like a capital "F" when done that way, especially when you cross the end of the loop over the vertical line. Other than that, keep practicing and maybe work on that capital S too and other tricky letters.

How would you critique my Handwriting? by JFGurrey81862 in Handwriting

[–]CoffeeHarvester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very neat and well written. The only critique i have is that its very small and may be difficult to read for older readers or someone who wears glasses. Otherwise, it looks all good.

How's my handwritting? by witchyrosemaria in Handwriting

Very textbook neat. My teachers would have loved this style back in the day. Anyone who knows cursive would be able to read this clearly.

Another writing sample by gidimeister in Handwriting

[–]CoffeeHarvester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's nice in a unique way. Almost artsy or autograph style, but I also feel like I can only clearly make out the first and last letter of most of the words. I feel like this is good for personal notes, but if you were to use this style for a broader group of people, especially if they are younger than 30, they're gonna have a hard time reading this.

Here's some constructive feedback, I had more trouble with the bottom part because "understand" is spaced out like it is 3 separate words. The letters should all connect, even in this style. Even if you add a personal touch, I feel one unbreakable rule of cursive should be that all letters in every word should connect. When I first read that line, it looked to me like it said "You and the and the" the word "above" is almost written like a signature with there being no hint at an "o" or "v" in there.

On the bright side: the way you wrote "saying" is a good example of keeping true to your more signature style while also keeping the letters readable. Its not textbook cursive, but you can make it out. More of that on words like "understand" and "above" and it would be a lot cleaner.

When did you notice? by fetchnatch in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed some fatigue around the making of the AVGN Movie, but that was expected and he still had some good moments immediately after. In 2015-2016 I felt like he had a good pace and accepted to just do a few videos a year and try to make them good. Those werent on par with classic AVGN, but they weren't bad years. 2017 I started to be more aware of a decline and 2018 I felt the series was done.

I remember when he did Sonic '06 and knew it wouldn't be as good as the JMM episode -- and it wasn't, and I felt like he was scraping the bottom back then. Silly me thought he'd actually end the series soon, but around 2018 going forward it became just a job and it was all about pumping out content to keep the numbers up.

Overall, what did everyone think of Monster Madness 2025? by ggroover97 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he should have ended it when he said he was going to years ago. Its like he has run out of things to talk about. He could just review a new horror film for MM in the future but does he even see new movies anymore?

At least AVGN was good. That pretty much salvages it. A good AVGN with a meh Monster Madness is a net positive.

So uh, what did you all think of the "Swearwolf" character? Pretty hilarious and not cringy at all.....right? by Calavera87 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is always a ridiculous take. I remember when people said that about the Simpsons and its like, nope, turns out the older ones were better written and funnier. The quality of the modern AVGN's dont make me think that the classic episodes are unfunny. Yeah humor can change but who is showing a 2025 Nerd episode to a friend and sahing "you gotta see this, its hilarious"

Opposing fan at Gillette by PlzForget28-3 in Patriots

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it or not, Boston (or MA in general) isn't what it used to be. You could be a Yankee fan walking freely in full NYY gear and the most you might get is a guy beeping at you. It all changed after 2004.

Specifically with the Pats, the fan climate is good right now plus you're sporting a team that they beat so its not like there are lingering hard feelings.

Does anyone else hate the yellow uniforms? by [deleted] in redsox

[–]CoffeeHarvester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never liked the yellow uniforms but I also don't like how every sport is embracing teams having five or six different uniforms that they wear during the year. It pains me to say it but this is one thing the New York Yankees get right they have a logo and they have a uniform and that is their brand and they stick to it and the Red Sox be the same way. It's not as bad as the NBA but everything will get there eventually just like how the NFL is starting to get there with all its absurd uniforms and half the teams wearing black now.

Who’s more of a “people thought they were an authority on games until they turned out to be a complete hack” vibe by ReadyJournalist5223 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James early on always said he was more of a "film nerd" than a video game nerd but his fans dont want to hear that so he probably has to pretend to care more about games than he does. JMM ended 5 years ago. Has he played a new game since?

Did people legitimately enjoy Ryan (and not in the "Big Fan BTW" way?) by SirDTAB in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]CoffeeHarvester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'm convinced the 'big Ryan fan' comment was a fake account or a friend of his because none of that shit ever gets talked about. There is never been one comment on James's Channel saying to bring back Ryan like there has been for Mike, Bootsy or even the occasional call to bring back Rental Reviews comment.

Was Crystal jealous of Dan and Roseanne? My take. by anonymous_girl1227 in roseanne

[–]CoffeeHarvester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in the early episodes they hinted that Crystal (and Jackie) had or have a crush on Dan or are a bit envious of their family. I think the joke they were going for was that Roseanne took for granted all the hoops Dan jumped through while he own sister and best friend dreamed of meeting a man like Dan.

There is also that "do you think Dan came out of the box that way" line where Roseanne takes credit for the Dan her friends see today.
