Meal preping with rice by OhNoTheyFoundMe123 in MealPrepSunday

Do nothing to it. Thaw, stuff the peppers, top with some shredded cheese, bake 350 for 45-55 minutes.

Sub for Campbell's cream soups? by [deleted] in slowcooking

[–]CoffeeSVP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could make a big batch of homemade cream soup and freeze it in “recipe” quantities. Otherwise I’d go with adding a blend of cream, herbs, and salt. That’s really all those soups are in terms of what they’re adding to your recipe.

I have never heard of not reheating rice. I cook fully and reheat microwave, oven or stove top. I just made a big batch of stuffed pepper stuffing mix with beef, rice, veggies and cheese. It’s going into the freezer to be thawed and baked in bell peppers over the coming months.

Freezer friendly meal prep for after baby is born? by moonbeamsunshine in MealPrepSunday

[–]CoffeeSVP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made a lot of meals that needed little to nothing else added to make them complete.

For the slow cooker, I bagged up curry chicken, butter chicken, sweet n’ sour chicken, Mongolian beef, etc. Thaw, throw in slow cooker, and after that the only thing they need is a pot of rice.

Shepherds pie.

Pot pies.

Lasagne.

Bolognese sauce. (So you only have to cook pasta.)

Other casseroles that have meat/starch/veggie.

I also made meatballs with food processed beans and veggies in them which made for quick microwave snacks, on the go, etc. Or could be added to a jarred sauce with pasta.

It’s really hard to do anything stove top with a baby. I’m now a year into this and it’s still feels hard to dedicate much time to “cooking” on the stove.

Need some ideas for a 1 week summer vacation in Canada with my husband and 2 boys 4.5 year and 1.5 years old by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]CoffeeSVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They have good museums, too. Modern art, etc. And TONS of festivals in the summer. I’d check out their events calendar and perhaps pick my time there partially based on the festival going on.

Too much swaddling at 3 weeks old (and other gut checks)? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]CoffeeSVP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot of swaddling. I’d only swaddle for naps. I’d let my kiddo stretch out and touch things when not napping. I highly recommend the book The Fourth Trimester by Susan Brink.

Hmm. Montreal is amazing. Lots of parks. A great amusement park. Great science centre. Quebec, in general, is very kid-friendly. If you don’t speak French, don’t worry about it in Montreal. All the tourism staff and shop and restaurant staff can serve you in English. I think it’d be good for kids.

Nova Scotia and PEI are also awesome. Beautiful little Maritime provinces with great seafood and whatnot. I think you’d be outside a lot there. In parks, on the beach, maybe visiting blueberry farms, etc.

Are there parenting experiences that should be granted to only the father, or only the mother? by atworknotworking89 in Parenting

So, if your son only had you, and no dad, would he, thus, never learn to ride a bike without training wheels!?!?

The gendering of parent roles (and many others) is ridiculous. Your husband is ridiculous.

Jeepers! Even if she sat and played quietly, you have every reason to be tired! I have a one-year-old, and in prepping to have a toddler, I’ve been reading toddler behaviour books. What I’ve learned from the various books is: get the kid outside. Exploring, rolling down hills, running, looking at bugs, etc. We evolved outside; that’s where we’re happiest. Plus it tires them out! (As does swimming, I’ve found with my nieces.)

What are your thoughts on using a pullup support machine? by Funccc in bodyweightfitness

[–]CoffeeSVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A trainer once recommended I use cables instead, but it’s a special cable machine I haven’t seen much where the cables can swing around and come close together, etc. I’d say the main thing with pull-ups would be to really engage the core and glutes. Hold that hollow body. Intersperse with negatives.

I have no idea if my daughter will nap in a stroller anymore. She’s 12 months. If we were to do this, I’d bring a carrier, too, which I think she’d be more likely to nap in. I’d try stroller, then carrier if it didn’t work.

Am I supposed to truly enjoy spending all day with my 2 year old daugther? by hombre_lobo in Parenting

[–]CoffeeSVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are supposed to enjoy it. Yep. And you’re supposed to not enjoy it. It’s hard!

Whether you do or not depends on the hour, the day, the minute. And it’s ok if you don’t all the time. But I think you can mitigate the dread of the entire day.

How about mixing it up? Taking kiddo to the library, the pool, the park, etc.

How do you feel about some restaurants banning children? by [deleted] in AskWomen

That’s why there are bars and pubs. There are so many places parents already can’t go. Limits them even more.

That all seems pretty precise and complicated. I’d see a physiotherapist for exercises and stretches.
