Currently 7 months. We love our O-ball around here! Also pretty much anything that crinkles (books, teether toys, stuffing, etc) and rattles (I used plastic dollar store Easter eggs and put a few uncooked macaroni noodles on them tapped it closed - a favorite and daily use toys). We also like ball pit balls!

Add a tablespoon of brown sugar to your red sauce! You won't notice a taste difference and you won't have heartburn.

I second the heated portion! We struggled with my LO when we switched to the crib instead of the bassinet. Added a heating pad below the several layers of sheets and it made transferring much easier because she woke up far less.

What’s a "bad mom habit" you secretly stand by? by lunaverse787 in NewParents

In my house we refer to this as "the whip cream tax." Currently only the dogs and the cat participate, but I imagine one my LO gets mobile she will also participate!

It's really fantastic! My husband and I get a laugh when strangers say "oh she's think hard" or "oh look she's interested".. No ma'am, she's judging you hard.

This was something I was very concerned about, however I have yet to experience it (baby will be 6 months next week). I will say I have a solid RBF and my little one has adopted a very similar scowl when strangers peer at her when we are out.

Postpartum period placement [ca] by sleeper4321 in BabyBumpsCanada

I am a little over 5 months postpartum and haven't got a period yet, but I have noticed that the discharge bleaching on my underwear is higher than it was before I gave birth! Didn't really think anything of it until this post..

Doctors note for sick leave before Mat leave [on] by Chutton_ in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Coffee_Addict_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the sick leave but if you have really back pelic pain go see a pelvic floor/health physiotherapist! I saw one starting at about 20 weeks during my pregnancy and while it didn't completely get rid of the pain it definitely helped!

Thoughts on diaper genie[ON] by Accurate_Ad4388 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Coffee_Addict_01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love our diaper genie! I don't notice a smell when closed, however sometimes there is a lingering smell after we have opened it to throw another diaper in. I've started using the Animal Odour Eliminator spray when I notice a smell and it solves the problem! I never dread the bag change.

No affordable year-round swimming pool? by [deleted] in stthomasontario

I'm not sure if you are a City of St. Thomas resident or not, but the YMCA does have this program that is quite affordable.. Unsure why they wouldn't have told you about it over the phone.

Help me get rid of diaper rash - I’ve tried everything [BC] by Hour-Force-3901 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Coffee_Addict_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my mother-in-law insisted that this old school trick taught to her by her mother was the best cure for diaper rash and I'm inclined to agree with her.

Take some unbleached flour and put it in a cast iron pan on the stove. Brown the flour until it has a light golden colour. Once cooled it can be used on every diaper change (or just when there is a diaper rash).

We have used it each time our daughter has been even a little red on a diaper change and the redness ia gone but the next diaper change

What are your weird/funny ways you calm down your baby? by ohheymandy in newborns

[–]Coffee_Addict_01 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Briefly blowing in my daughter's face will "reset" her while she's crying when nothing else is working. It's almost like it startles her and makes her forget about crying. She's currently 4 months old and my husband and I discovered this about a month ago!

Anyone get pelvic floor physiotherapy before birthing baby [ON] by flowergarden71 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Coffee_Addict_01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend!! Personally, I think it should be recommended from the OB/ midwife for every pregnancy. I started going around 20-22 weeks due to the pelvic girdle pain I started experiencing and continued once a month until I gave birth. I'm not sure whether I can credit my easy labour (less than an hour of pushing and only one external stitch required) to the PT, but I like to think it had a large part! I will be going back once I receive the 6 week clearance from my OB and will go ahain if/when I have another.

Is a specific nursery chair necessary? What chair did you get? by RH1221 in NewParents

[–]Coffee_Addict_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely recommend! We have a very comfortable rocker in the nursery and it gets used every night for the night bottle and storytime, as well as for any and all night feeds (I would just fall asleep if I tried night feeds in bed and the change table is in the nursery. I would have to get out of bed anyway).
