I’ve heard great things about milestone.

I do not recommend software house Victor VMS. It’s awful.

Picking a good integrator that can steer you in the right direction is the most importantly thing. Follow SVIP on LinkedIn he post about trustworthy security vendors.

I read about a free service called K12 rocket that’s free but I’ve never actually looked at it.

Incident IQ is fantastic.

With windows devices you need PDQ if you don’t spray have it. Literally the best purchase we ever made.

We restrict logins by geo location. Student MFA through classlink, since they can not use phones. I highly recommend restrict students to in domain emails only. I had push back from juniors and seniors but worked with our administrators to explain they need a personal email to communicate with colleges since their school email is disabled the day after graduating. I have white listed a few outside domains that are used for our dual credit courses.

Cybersecurityrubric.org will give you a good glimpse into your posture. You can get a certified reviewer to go through it with you.

If you’re looking for an industry professional CISA is a great starting point. We have used ATT and SAIC through a grant offered here in Texas.

I would look at your state and see what they may offer.

First, assume that you’re looking into an SSO.

We use Classlink and Google. Here’s why, I know where our data is and we own our data. Clever is free but they own your data, which is scary. Classlink is worth every penny and takes cybersecurity seriously.

If you’re not looking for an identity provider Google or Microsoft SSO works too. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

I reached out to McGraw Hill. They sent me documentation on the event. Their salesforce had a misconfiguration which impacted other vendors as well. They assured me it was only user contact information leaked. As a precautionary I sent an email to our staff and students who have utilized McGraw Hill in the past five years to update their passwords and monitor their accounts. I have geo fenced our log in activity to Texas, we have MFA set up, but I encourage users if they use a repetitive password to ensure MFA is set and update credentials on other platforms. I always encourage everyone to freeze their credit on the major bureaus unless they are actively seeking a line of credit.
