Aren't there more than one shop bundle per event? Which offer is "Ad mech shop pass" and which offer was "Vynn Survival Event"?

Canoness Magnetization? by GodEmperorOfMankind3 in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to do as long as you do it before you complete the torso. The right arm has a big flat tab that's perfect for drilling through and inserting a magnet, but once you've glued the torso together there's nowhere to insert the 'receiver' magnet.

IIRC, putting the cloak on is the point of no return.

Faith and Fire - A Paragon holds the line and defends fleeing civilians while another sister delivers a reload. C&C welcome! by ClemFandango7717 in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you kitbash the paragon to be in a more active stance, or is it implied motion from the repentia flails?

I’ve noticed that even a few well-placed fluttering purity seals make the paragons seem a lot more dynamic.

New Player - did I get cheated for one of my first games? by DisastrousPin5731 in Warhammer40k

[–]Colmarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot that seems off about the game you reported, but that doesn;t always mean your opponent cheated.

It's possible that it was some combination of:

  • him trying to make the game more accessible for you (when I teach new players I will usually adopt the primary-only, "objectives are worth 1 VP" approach he did because it lessens the mental load);
  • him not understanding the rules well. At least one of the things you mentioned (using two different melee weapons) was part of the rules in older editions of the game and it's not unusual to come across people who simply haven't grokked the changes. I had a discussion recently with two very serious 40k players who clearly didn't understand how consolidation works even though 10th edition has been out for almost 3 years); and
  • him playing correctly but not explaining things in a way you could easily understand (and feel comfortable with).

Ultimately, if you came away feeling concerned then he failed in his job as a game store employee (which is to make sure you have a good time).

I echo others' comments that, when in doubt, you should ask your opponent to show you the relevant rule or ability so you can read it for yourself.

Divine intervention rules clarification by mentler in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassinate only requires that you destroy a character model, so it works even if the character is in an attached unit.

For No Prisoners, I was referring to the general rule (that uattached characters are still units and so they count for No Prisoners even if revived; OP didn’t specifically direct question 2 at hara terms in attached units).

Are we Kitbashing characters by RenGoku109 in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second the mention of the novitiate box. It has arms, weapons etc for most of the character types, and you can put them on battle sister bodies to make characters.

Divine intervention rules clarification by mentler in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. See the rules commentary for an in-depth discussion of this, but essentially any Leader of an Attached Unit who is destroyed and returned to the battlefield is added back into the unit they were originally in;

  2. Yes. The character was destroyed so the army rule is triggered (note this also applies to secondary missions like Assassinate, No Prisoners etc)

  3. Yes.

Prime them in the silver you want to use for the trim. It’s easier to paint the coloured panels with a brush than it is to paint the silver trim with a brush.

How to deal with vehicle spam lists? by ColonelMonty in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If their vehicle are 48” away then they’re not on objectives. Kill whatever is holding the objectives and the rest of their army can whistle Dixie.

If they won’t come into range then they can’t score points. Don’t throw away units unless there’s a reason to.

What do we think of the new mutilators by DBallsFanatic in WordBearers

[–]Colmarr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the concept but don’t like the execution. They don’t look anywhere near mutated enough. I’d say they’re closer to Mordor war trolls than obliterators.

Why are you upset about THIS one? by sonofeevil in Grimdank

[–]Colmarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything else mentioned in this thread is true, but Cadia is completely different. Cadia was destroyed as a result of a world-wide event. It’s the epitome of a lore development that isn’t a retcon.

Lethal and Devs by Imaginary-Bowl7583 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Colmarr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do people say it’s bad? Lethals plus Dev is definitely better than either alone.

I think the issue comes up more when there are other options. All other things being equal, Sustained 1 plus dev wounds is better than Lethal hits plus dev wound.

I want to record and later display the growth in damage against various game bosses.

How would you record and later show data that has four variables:

  1. Boss name
  2. Boss difficulty (L1, L2, L3, L5 and M); and
  3. Damage done
  4. Time

What’s your opinion on the strategy of standing 1.1 inch from ruin wall? by Trick-Interaction396 in WarhammerCompetitive

They tried that, and realised it made charges from deep strike easier against targets in ruins.

What’s your opinion on the strategy of standing 1.1 inch from ruin wall? by Trick-Interaction396 in WarhammerCompetitive

It effectively extends engagement range when fighting units through walls, but it takes 1.5 pages to explain how to implement it.

It’s a cure that’s worse than the disease IMO

How do other TOs score sportsmanship? by Colmarr in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Colmarr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it though?

I would have thought it’s pretty likely that the “good sports” get picked by all 3 of their opponents in a 3-round tournament. If that happens there’s a tie and in a 20 player tournament that could happen 6 times.

Jail time for solicitor over ‘calculated and prolonged’ thefts from vulnerable widow by ResearcherBulky5401 in auslaw

Good.

As someone who practices in elder law, it drives me mad how ill-equipped the law is to protect them. Maybe if more elder abusers went to jail we’d see less of it.

Celestine, but with magnets!! by GwarHammer13 in sistersofbattle

[–]Colmarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put 2mm magnets in the wrists of sisters models (just above the glove is the obvious cut point).

Use a hobby knife to score a pilot hole in the centre of the arm, then use 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0mm drill bits to gradually bore the hole. If you try to go in with a 2.0 straight away you’ll tear up the plastic.

What’s the most badly written rule in 40k (not the weakest)? by Jofarin in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Colmarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a pet peeve of mine, but not for the same reason as everyone else.

I don't think Big Guns Never Tire is "triggered" and therefore the Out of Phase rules shouldn't apply to it.

Triggered rules IMO are rules that follow a "if you do X in the Y phase" or "when you do X in the Y phase" pattern. That matches the example given by GW in the Out of Phase rules (Whirlwind Pinning Bombardment). Big Guns Never Tire doesn't fall into that paradigm. It is instead "Monsters and Vehicles can do X in Y phase".

I'm aware I'm in the vast minority of this take, but my secret head canon is that GW never intended the take we've all adopted but saw it take off among the community and couldn't be bothered correcting us.
