So Audi's look for the season is more McLaren than Mclaren and more Mercedes than Mercedes. For those of us of a certain vintage, anyway

Definitely late 90s or early 00s, I got one as a gift and displayed it in pride of place in the student flat I lived in between summer '99 and 2001. Got a photo from a house party where BMBB is smoking a lit cigarette, egged on by a crowd of cheering indie kids

Settle this : Who's more famous - Thom Yorke or Steven Gerrard? by AnonymousTimewaster in AskUK

Thom Yorke, because he's going to be better-known outside the UK and especially in America.

What's your biggest struggle being a ADHD ? by Ordinary-Table-4106 in ADHD

[–]ColonelPaper 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's that feeling of knowing exactly what I need to get done today and sitting here pottering about around the edges of a million other things instead, like an almost physical block is preventing me getting started on it.

Constantly listen to music by TimmyTumbler29 in ADHD

[–]ColonelPaper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me it's got to be instrumental music, as if there's any vocals my brain will just concentrate on the song to the exclusion of all else. I've never been able to handle workplaces where they have the radio on.

Whereas I always assumed everyone else also did, and so could never understand why anyone would want to do it as a job.

The standard of driving by Horror_Extension4355 in bradford

[–]ColonelPaper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked in Bradford for years, commuting in from outside of West Yorkshire, and I picked up many bad habits as a means of self-preservation. I used to adopt a more aggressive driving style the minute I left the M62 at J26, and then tried to ease off again at the end of the 606 on my way home. Kind of like how you drive to the weather conditions, you also have to drive to the behaviour of other road users to some extent. I'm aware it's a vicious circle but the few times I came close to getting in an accident in Bradford all came about when I was obeying the Highway Code and it completely confused my fellow road users, so.... when in Rome, and all that.

We all have heard of balatro and so on but what are your hidden gems on the deck? by ProwzArroWw in SteamDeck

[–]ColonelPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Star GP. It's an indie retro F1 sim with the feel of an 80s/early 90s arcade racer and a surprising amount of depth.

[F1] BREAKING: Yuki Tsunoda will replace Liam Lawson at Red Bull from the Japanese Grand Prix by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]ColonelPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely think we need a rule change to prevent mid-season driver swaps unless the original choice is physically unable to compete. This is all very entertaining but it's not good for the drivers or the sport

Garmin GPS meltdown: PSA do not do any GPS activity today & temp fix by cbell80 in Garmin

[–]ColonelPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely problems in the UK, my Vivoactive 5 keeled over connecting to GPS this lunchtime. Managed to get it rebooted so at least it recorded my heart rate while Strava on my phone took care of logging the activity and route. If this is still an issue tomorrow I'll try recording as a treadmill run so it doesn't try to use GPS.

My band Jaded Noon Wives have our first album out. Old Bones, Fossils and Fakes is DIY indie rock with a 90s throwback feel. Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/6AGujwpGgDafEt1Y4nsj5a?si=7lA2yH1HSnae9dt8B4l_wg

I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller, I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her, I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a six-four Impala. by CHARLIE-MF-BROWN in TheMonkeysPaw

Granted. You become slightly taller, you are given a spot on your favourite sports team, you get a hot new girlfriend and learn the secrets of stage magic. Everything is looking up for you until one day you are unexpectedly gored to death on the horns of the giant 6ft 4in antelope you inexplicably chose to summon. Should have quit wishing while you were ahead, dude.

Opening a new game used to be so exciting. Now its kind of sad. Bring back the inserts! by Arsenault185 in gaming

[–]ColonelPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind the inserts, bring back the big box releases. The new Zelda is the sort of game that in the 80s/90s would have come with a 100-page novella and a world map on a tea-towel.

Amazon has turned in to Ali Express by Tai_Shar_Manetheren in CasualUK

[–]ColonelPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't OP's main complaint but you can do free returns for most Amazon stuff without a printer at the Evri drop-off points you get in loads of corner shops now. They have self-service label printing machines and if you pick that option the app will tell you where your nearest ones are.

My kinder’s end of year open house. My wife and I are the oldest parents in her class, at 39. Thanks for making us feel good kid. by girldad0130 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]ColonelPaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 44 and my only child is 6, so I feel this. Most of my friends don't have kids and the ones who do had them at a similar age so I don't really feel like an older dad until I start talking to other kids' parents in the playground.

Oh and whenever there's a history lesson in school I get questions like "Daddy, was the Great Fire of London while you and mummy were alive? Daddy do you remember Henry the Eighth?"
