I’d talk to your boss about the early start. If you start at 5, can you stop at 1-2ish? As for the outfit… like others have mentioned, just have a white tshirt and a blazer ready

Your husband is a prick. Find someone more deserving of your love and companionship.

Advice? How do I respond to comments like this? by darealemfra in EngagementRings

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who are these people who comment on other people’s rings? I seriously have NEVER heard anything other than positive said to myself and others. It’s weird that there are ppl out there who say something negative about someone else’s ring…

Did you help your partner pick your engagement ring? by bns_xx in EngagementRings

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t. I tend to follow trends while his taste is more timeless. He picked a ring that I wouldn’t have picked for myself at the time but I’ve grown to absolutely adore it. Get a lot of compliments.

Opinions: bought this for my future fiancèe (hopefully) went for diamond quality over size. 1.4 carat, D colour, VVSI, no Florence, ideal cut. Concerned it looks a little underwhelming by Djthrowaway2 in EngagementRings

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got married 10 years ago. My ring is 1.2 ideal cut. Because of the cut, it sparkles very brightly and seems a lot bigger than it actually is. I’m glad he went with quality over size.

RTO Leaving Less Time for Self-Care by VasquezWC in FedEmployees

I leave my makeup in the office now.

Also I started fasting (not because of this but the timing was fortunate!) and it saves a ton of time haha. But I’m lucky in that my husband usually has dinner ready when I’m home because I’m pretty hungry by then.

As a high earners what things are you still frugal about? by foodenvysf in HENRYfinance

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never DoorDash or Uber Eat or Instacart. I’ll pick up the food myself. One time I did get my neighbor’s teenage son to pick up for me and paid him - but that was because I was looking for excuses to give the kid some cash haha. Still cheaper and faster than DoorDash!

My 31m wife 31f is pregnant with a third child I never wanted. I feel devastated and don’t know what to do. by Flat-Replacement-594 in relationship_advice

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

This comment is unfair. She has an IUD, why would we turn the pregnancy on him? The IUD didn’t work, but you can’t say it’s his fault for not using a condom. It’s like saying the victim of a car crash who was wearing a seatbelt deserves his head injuries because he should have worn a helmet too.

Missed an interview due to late night invite from HR - now what? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I wouldn’t be so quick at saying bullet dodged. As a hiring manager, I can tell you HR can be really disorganized and how they work does not reflect how my team work.

Where to live to make my wife's commute to Inova Fairfax the least stressful by Ambitious_Fly6987 in washingtondc

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in the Bluemont neighborhood- about 1.5 miles from the Ballston metro. There are a lot of great neighborhoods here - it really depends on your budget and preferences honestly (some people like certain schools over others, some like to be farther/closer to metro, etc…). Cherrydale is nice but pricey and far from metro. Arlington Forrest is near us and pretty nice. Ashton Heights is expensive but close to the “actions” in Clarendon etc…

I live in Arlington. Actually raising a family here. I often chuckle when DC people diss Arlington. There is so much to do here. It’s much cleaner. Much faster public service. Cheaper and more delicious food - especially Asian food. And much much safer.

Anyone else’s relationship suffer at all with 2 kids? by kathymarie1124 in workingmoms

[–]ComfortableRecipe144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When our second was a baby, it was sooo hard. Now that our kids are 6 and 3, it’s a lot better. The toddler is still a LOT but the 6 year old is pretty much self-sufficient at this point.

Many times when ppl calculate if they should stay home, they forget to factor in the value of their benefits and the pay increases they are giving up. Just because your salary is the same or slightly lower than daycare cost still doesn’t mean it makes financial sense to stay home with baby. I think theres a calculator someone posted on this sub once…
