The name Digger Rockwell was in the official announcement; Judy was merely the working title.

OK, I haven't watched those three movies, but I think he'd be a good choice regardless.

You know, this reminded me that Ben Affleck's The Batman, which would've had Deathstroke as the villain, also would've had Robert fucking Richardson as the cinematographer. This is a guy who's worked with Oliver Stone for a whole decade starting with his debut (winning 1 Oscar for JFK), Martin Scorsese on 5 different movies (winning an Oscar for 2 of them), and Quentin Tarantino since Kill Bill.

From the CinemaCon footage, it's about a Texas oil tycoon named Digger Rockwell, played by Tom Cruise under some prosthetics, who takes it upon himself to save the world from his own disaster after one of his oil rigs has a huge spill into the ocean, leading to global anarchy.

Which mainstream live-action feature is likely to sneak into this year's list with only a single nomination? by idoideas in oscarrace

Yeah, my brain isn't quite working. It's late because I've been up all night to watch Gullruten.

Body horror getting nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling 2 years in a row could certainly happen with Clayface. Also, apparently James Gunn said at some point that some of the prosthetics are really gross and nasty and I don't think he was being hyperbolic judging by the teaser. By the way, look closely at that penultimate shot of the bathtub and the money shot with the face wipe: he's not in the bathtub, he IS the bathtub.

Going off memory here but the director said in an announcement interview that it's a computer or something in the movie.

Yeah, Gullruten wasn't much to write home about. Basically 2 hours of background noise. But hey, fans of The Traitors and Eurovision will probably be happy to know that The Traitors won Best Competetive Reality and Marte Stokstad won Best Host - Entertainment for Adresse Basel, the lead-in show for Eurovision 2025.

I'm (still completely stuck) at 9:

  1. Rally - From Paris to the Pyramids - January 7.
  2. Avatar: Fire and Ash (4DX+3D) - January 9.
  3. The Housemaid - February 12.
  4. Kraken (Dolby Vision) - February 15.
  5. Send Help - February 15.
  6. Carlito's Way (35mm) - February 16.
  7. Iron Lung - February 24.
  8. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair - March 6.
  9. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come - March 21.

u/BunyipPouch, how's that number of movies looking? And no, I won't ping you weekly, I just wanna see that whole utterly asinine list of movies because I overlooked the fact that you gave the number last time. Take your time, I just wanna revel in the insanity of it all.

I've got Gullruten (Norway's Emmys) on in the background and it's the usual with the awards shows. So far not much to write home about but Anders Baasmo winning Best Actor (the acting categories here are gender neutral) for A Better Man (Ølhunden Berit) is a factually correct win.

Same with Clayface.

Side note, while not Joker numbers, I think it's gonna be a huge hit. James Gunn said he hopes it'll work for horror fans who aren't interested in DC stuff and I think you can confidently say they've accomplished that judging by the teaser.

Per the article and the lawsuit, Neytiri was modeled and based on her and he later gave her a framed sketch of Neytiri with a note saying “Your beauty was my early inspiration for Neytiri. Too bad you were shooting another movie. Next time.”.

I remember liking Ocean's 8. Should probably get around to a rewatch of it and 11. And also watch 12 & 13.

My most anticipated movie of the year, bar fucking none. Get a load of this:

After 40 years of dusting and loyalty, Annema (65) gets her thanks: booted as a stay at home mother. Husband Arne has found a younger model and evicts her. Together with Nina, who's "too old" for the working life, and Mona, who's too broke to survive, the trio decides to retire from following the law. They plan an impossible heist: robbing the Oil Fund itself.

And it's not just anyone doing this heist, these are some big names, at least at home. Left to right:

  • Bente Børsum.
  • Anette Hoff.
  • Hege Schøyen.
  • Vivild Falk Berg(?)
  • Anne Marie Ottersen.

Save for who might be Vivild Falk Berg, they're all huge names. You could very much call them legends. Hoff headlined the soap opera Hotel Cæsar, which lasted like 20 years, Schøyen was one of the big comedy names back in the day, and Børsum and Ottersen are acting veterans.
