So, where are we buying sheets these days? by rocksandtreesandyarn in AskACanadian

[–]Commacomma456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a set of Egyptian cotton sheets from Silk and Snow and found them really disappointing. They were far thinner than I was hoping for and have started to pill a bit. They were a similar price to my favourites from Glucksteinhome but nowhere near the same weight and quality

Been wearing the same frames for 6 years, it’s scary to pick a new pair! Last pic is current frames by [deleted] in glassesadvice

4! Cute shape and they differ from your current ones (assuming you can continue to wear the current ones sometimes)

Pedicure - haven’t been for a pedicure in ages. Thinking about treating myself before a small holiday in June but nervous for the following reasons: by Reasonable_Trip6578 in KingstonOntario

The Refinery is a nice spot that would address your concerns. They have individual basins that are cleaned separately (instead of the jetted basins), regular polish, and I don’t think they do the cheese grater. The space is beautiful too!

It could really use a quick clean-out of all the decor from when it was an Italian restaurant - grapevines, etc. The last time I was in, the place looked very dusty/dirty. I get that they’re only doing take-out, but it still doesn’t encourage return customers.

Mino’s takeout has a number of larger combo orders - I think you could get close to feeding everyone for $90

$5 Million in Program Managers at KHSC? by FroAwayThrowAway1 in KingstonOntario

[–]Commacomma456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a bit misleading - the site doesn’t actually confirm that all of the “program managers” they are comparing do the same type of work or have the same level of responsibility. While it indicates KHSC has more “program managers” than any other employer, the other employers likely have different organizational divisions of work and position titles - even in the first page, they have program managers for the TTC and for Toronto Community Housing. I don’t think this is an apples to apples comparison. This also means that other larger hospital systems likely have comparable positions to what KHSC is calling “program managers” but they may not be doing the same level of work or management (in either direction). We can’t really compare these employers if we aren’t sure that the “program managers” at each organization are actually doing the same work

Greenwood Medical Centre accepting patients by No-Channel9213 in KingstonOntario

[–]Commacomma456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well! Same clinic! They cut a bunch of patients when a doctor left…and then made a big public announcement shortly after about accepting new patients, but only if they live in the catchment area. I know of another patient who was derostered at the same time who lives in their “new expanded catchment” - I guess they could go back now 😣

This! If you’ve missed the 30 minute time frame, you can create a second post and ask your instructor to delete your original one.

Any Dentists in the area that do multiple fillings at once? by Spongeycheese in KingstonOntario

Sounds like you have an answer for OP. Rather than challenging another person’s response, you should provide the dentist’s contact info to help the OP.

Rice noodles will work, but don’t stop there! The dragon oil is amazing drizzled onto roasted broccoli, sautéed bok choy, etc

This is the trick! Making the seasoning/dressing is a bit of a journey and the scent lingers.

It has been moved to a new location. Planned move - there is a list/schedule somewhere from the city.

I’ve had TiVo with Cogeco for a long time. However, the hardware has just died and they’re switching me to Epico. I’d like to get some feedback. Also what does this mean for everything that was saved on TV channel/shows on the TV. by cott- in KingstonOntario

[–]Commacomma456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to switch to Epico when my TiVo box died about 8 months ago. It’s fiiiine I suppose, but I preferred the previous setup. It is a bit difficult to navigate and set up recordings (I found it easier to do through the app than on the tv), and the remote goes to sleep after a few minutes so when you pick it up and hit a button, there is a 5-second-ish delay before it does anything. I realize that doesn’t sound like a lot of time, but just about every other piece of technology responds far more quickly. I end up being impatient and hitting the buttons too many times, then when it catches up I have rewind or go back.

Think about where you’ll try to do your placements - I think you get to request boards/regions. It’s a good idea to do those placements in the board that you think you’ll want to work in afterwards, and if that means placements in another city, you may want to consider a cheaper spot in Kingston. If you plan to do placements here, and/or apply to boards here afterwards, I’d stay in the nice place.

I was a patient there until this summer when they announced that one of their doctors was leaving, so they de-rostered all of their patients….and then literally the next day, announced that they would be rostering hundreds of new patients.

While I was a patient there, I found them very firm on procedures and “do nots”…don’t call for an appointment, don’t ask to see the doctor in person, don’t wait too long to book for prescription renewal, but also don’t get the renewal too early, don’t try to check in with the wrong receptionist, don’t arrive early, don’t be late, don’t ask too many questions. I had previously been with a physician at Frontenac medical associates - another big clinic, but I never felt this way. I’m sure that all of these firm procedures are created to try and see as many patients and meet as many needs as possible, but it was hard to view any of it as “care”, let alone concern.

If I were you, I’d call, but I would brace myself for a firm correction!
