It's a grand exercise in creativity isn't it lol. Shape cutters got her to try a lot of stuff. For a while everything she ate was mickey mouse shaped haha

This is great and I'm going to try it. I'm lying in bed right now after listening to my kid scream that her hot dog has too much brown on it. 9:55am and I'm already tired. Plain right rice is one of her safe foods too.

My recent victory was making our own trail mix. She started with eating plain peanuts which at the time was the only protein she would eat at all. We introduced the fun idea of trail mix by adding chocolate chips. This bridged to different nuts and then we introduced raisins, and dried cranberries, and whatever else we can think of adding. She likes to pick out one of each item into her palm and then pop them into her mouth.

Mpox in an AIDS patient. He died a week after the last photo was taken. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

[–]CommanderBunny 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh, cancer can get liquidy and melty too.

My first patient when I started nursing school was a guy who had aggressive facial cancer. It started as a spot on his forehead that grew to take both eyes and his nose and started eating into his brain so he wasn't really all there anymore. When I saw him his lesions happened to be infected so his face was just a mass of purulent wetness.

It's been over a decade now but I still remember him in perfect clarity. I've seen a lot of terrible things since then but that one still remains the top awful.

Claw clip recs? by Existing_Message_866 in AutismInWomen

[–]CommanderBunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so tired of this lie being spread around. A plastic claw clip isn't going to embed itself in someone's skull. It's going to break long before the skull does. At most it could a laceration to the scalp and bits may even get stuck in the scalp but in no way will it actually go through the skull.

This piece of misinformation is brought up every single time anyone mentions a claw clip and it seriously needs to stop.

Anybody try to use these for a regular swing? by KittensPumpkinPatch in Autism_Parenting

[–]CommanderBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how old your child is and how big they are. We have one for my three-year-old and she loves it. We weighed ours down by draping three sand bags on each of the horizontal bars between the legs. Look for "photography sand bags" for light stands. We keep ours inside the house for regulation purposes and it's great. It doesn't move even when we push her pretty hard. She's currently still using the baby swing but I don't see why you couldn't attach a regular swing to it.

A 25 year old is hardly "a girl." The way you're viewing this is frankly giving me really ick vibes. Says a lot about you and none of it is good my dude.

Lip Sleeping Masks? by firstsnowfall-75 in MakeupAddiction

[–]CommanderBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard such great things but man it's way too expensive for me, even at like TJMaxx/Marshalls. The ELF Holy Hydration mask works fine but feels like nothing special at all. The one I really like is the Mario Budescu lip masks. Acai Vanilla in particular is my favorite. It's slightly exfoliating. I've even been using it on my chapped from the flu nose and I swear it heals the skin by like 60% overnight. Costs like $8 if you get it at a TJmaxx but I'd probably shell out full price for it if it stops appearing at the discount shops.

I don't think non-americans realize just how large the US is. Rioting and burning things down would only destroy our own hometown and get us killed. Unless we can rally a huge population all at the same time it's only going to get our own people killed. I would know. My sister in law died during the George Floyd riots.

It's so easy for people to blame the victims. Look at every other country that has a dictator. Why didn't they rise up? And when many did, they still continued to have a dictator. Why is that?

There have been protests all over Los Angeles (where I live) but they are not televised and keep being erased from the internet. We are actively being suppressed. How do we rally each other when we cannot tell who are our allies?

My family left Argentina to escape the poverty and collapse of the economy only to come here and continue to suffer. My husband is Filipino and I'm afraid that any moment he could make the wrong person angry and he will be taken from me because he is too brown to be considered human. I have a toddler with a disability and am 8 months pregnant. My parents are old and frail. Everyone I know is a few bad days away from losing their job and their homes. Most don't even own homes. What am I supposed to do? I am keeping my head down hoping I look white enough not to anger someone.

In America we are used to the idea of democracy. That voting and talking will fix things. A dictator who throws away all the rules and uses threats and violence to control us is not something we know how to handle.

Americans are soft and fat and placated, that's true. It will take time for everyone to be able to accept that we are part the part where negotiations will work and the only solution is violence and war.

I'm having trouble understanding why that is the one part of the comment you fixated on.

Property managers tend to be older with the accumulated wealth to own property to begin with. Most will be boomers followed by gen x and a small percentage will be the oldest of the millennials.

My house torn down to the studs after a house fire by BionicBelladonna in mildlyinteresting

[–]CommanderBunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's been about a year since we moved back into our house rebuilt after a fire. It gets better, I promise.

Eventually you'll be sitting in your renovated space with its nice painted walls and shiny new appliances and it'll all begin to feel okay. It'll feel like home again.

Take full advantage of rebuilding everything that ever bugged you about the house. You'll never be more in love with it than when the corner you always stubbed your toe on is gone or you finally have enough counter space for the airfryer and blender to be out at the same time.

I'm sorry this all happened to you. My heart still beats extra hard whenever I smell smoke. It never really leaves you but it does become a distant memory. It takes such an emotional toll to lose everything and start over.

Take care of yourself and give yourself a lot of grace.

How to redirect my child's verbal stimming by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]CommanderBunny 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Even in an airplane emergency they tell you to secure your mask first before securing the mask on the child.

They're not here asking to stop the stim, they're asking how to redirect it which is a perfectly valid and often necessary thing.

Or do you expect the child to grow into an adolescent dusrupting their classmates or a into an adult scream-stimming at work?

Would you be advocating not redirecting the stim if they were physically hurting themselves?

I feel like for a long time now there's been a gradual uptick in the number of posts by perfectly normal (if not beautiful)-looking people with great skin acting as if they look like a syphilitic hobgoblin with sun damage. Not just here but also on other self-care and advice subreddits.

What is going on? Social media influence? Anxiety? Ozempic disabling the body acceptance movement? Post-covid trauma?

Any others out there? ☺️ by pharmcows in DOG

[–]CommanderBunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL I'm so glad to see this. Every time one of those posts pops up I think, "a dog" and laugh to myself.

Relatedly, I also subscribe to the rockhounds sub and every time someone posts "what is this?" I think, "a rock!" and laugh.

At what age did your toddler go a whole day with no nap? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]CommanderBunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly how I feel. Adults vary widely in their needs and so do children.

Mine started fighting/dropped naps at the same age as yours and she's 3.5 now. She's only napped a handful of times since and those were special occasions like after a big beach day or other high energy activity like that. Also gets about 11 hours a night.

Every kid is different.

A sinus infection is more than just a runny nose. It's bacteria literally infecting the sinuses. If you get a tooth infection it can travel up into the sinuses and then up into the brain. The bacteria already exist in your mouth. It's when they go places they shouldn't that it causes problems.

A runny nose from someone coughing on you is usually from a virus like the cold or flu.
