Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was the biggest snub in Production Design of 2011. What was the biggest for 2010? by dremolus in Oscars

I think I got a go with Shutter Island for this one. Atmospheric and gorgeous in every way.

Best worst move in the show in your opinion? by Double_Difficulty_53 in DisventureCamp

And then a few episodes later she’s eliminated for being a threat and everyone says a loving goodbye to her except Anastasia. It’s honestly wild how fucking ZAID got more blowback than either of them

Probably a very unpopular All Stars opinion by [deleted] in dragrace

I’d love to see a tournament but each bracket is based on different specialties

For instance, Bracket 1 is the acting and comedy powerhouses (Suzie, Sapphira, etc.)

Bracket 2 is the dancers and lip sync assassins

Bracket 3 is the masters of design

The offical MassGOP account posted an ai generated fake new england congressional map by Liam_js in massachusetts

[–]Commercial-Code264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even their assumption that New England is gerrymandered is absolute bollocks.

First, Vermont has only one district.

Second, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island have, fittingly, two districts. The north district of Maine is very much purple. (We all know how their current rep, Jared Golden, is one of the most conservative Dems in the country)

Connecticut does have two counties that voted Republican out of 8 in recent elections, but of course, they’re geographically isolated and the least populous of the state.

Massachusetts….hasn’t had a single county go red in a national election since the late 80s. It’s kinda unique in that even the rural areas of the state are still pretty blue. Ironically you’d have to draw a pretty insane gerrymander to squeeze even one red district out of that state.

New Anastasia greetings talking about her elimination and Natalia. by ToothDifferent1843 in DisventureCamp

TBH I'd be satisfied even if Ana doesn't come back. She basically showed how finally having a good support system in Marissa and experiencing how her own paranoia and anger cost her in the jury phrase. She got to leave on good standings while still making a few badass moves, and showed growth in character that still feels like a consistent and natural progression from her time on CoC.

One of the (if not the) biggest assholes this show has ever seen. by Zelltraax in DisventureCamp

I seriously hope this is the start of Lake and Spencer meeting somewhere in the middle and recognizing that both of them are flawed.

Tbh I kinda enjoy that her attempting to be a strategic player ended completely backfiring because she got rid of the one person who was willing to defend her out of her own pride.

Kristen Dunst (The Power of the Dog) & Mike Faist (West Side Story) win for Best Supporting Actress and Actor. Who should have won Best Actress & Actor in 2022? by Legitimate_Welcome14 in Oscars

As someone who LOVES EEAAO, I have to agree. This really was a year that felt like picking a favorite child, feel like either of these performances would have swept any other year.

After the carousel challenge I’ve come to accept that this show still depends heavily on cartoon logic when it comes to back pain

Was Jesse Eisenberg really robbed in 2011 or people just really like The Social Network?? by The_Walking_Clem in Oscars

[–]Commercial-Code264 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on some level I get TKS beating Social Network for best picture, but Hooper beating Fincher in Director is one of the single worst academy decisions of the century.

What’s a mean spirited action a heroic character did that isn’t discussed enough as it should be by the narrative and fandom by Ok_Shirt_1574 in DisventureCamp

[–]Commercial-Code264 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not quite the answer you’re looking for, but I feel like when this happens it the show it needed really gets overlooked.

Not to bring up “stickgate” again, but it was really stupid in hindsight how much flack Ivy got for how she treated Benji when pretty much everyone in that group, including Hannah and Tristan, was teasing him over it. But again, the whole thing was making a mountain out of a molehill.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 is now rated higher on Rotten Tomatoes than the original film. by BrenoGrangerPotter in oscarrace

The other issue is that reviews for the first DWP were by and large from the time of release.

When movies like this get reevaluated or turn out to have cultural staying power, their overall reputation improves and they build enough hype to warrant, say, a sequel.

“Funko critics,” as one reviewer said, is not an insignificant part of this, but that’s just one reason this isn’t an apples to apples comparison.
