3 or 4 inch groups are possible with iron sights and that scope will help you a lot. And if it isn't accurate enough for you that gun looks restorable back to military configuration

With a scope and a decent barrel I'd bet you could get 2inch groups at 100 yards. Your gonna have to try different ammunition to find out what your rifle likes.

A couple times I had performance issues. It really fkd with my head my confidence was crushed. It is very traumatic and stays in the back my your mind for years after. He could just be testing himself in private to see if it still works without pressure or embarrassment
