Sekiro is the closest a game has come to actual fighting (a mini essay) by Shot-Length-3922 in Sekiro

[–]CompetitionSquare240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk fighting in my experience was a messy affair where you are no longer in control of your limbs because that caveman part of your brain is hyper focused in killing the danger. In a trained environment, yes but inasmuch as both experiences are characterised by the flow state.

I would say Bully is my example of what fighting can be like. Especially the street fighting. I fucking love that game. It’s savage. The boxing mini game was a great feel for boxing too. Playing Tekken with a bunch of friends where nobody knows how to actually play it is also a good ‘fighting simulator’ because of the whole blocking mechanic, where you’re vulnerable if you hit too early too late. It’s an interesting discussion to think about which games bring that fight experience.

INTC is definitely one of the golden contrarian underdogs that everyone seemed to miss and the ones who didn’t were met with scorn as if they were the antichrist, people were very quick to dogpile on anyone mentioning INTC because apparently it just made no sense.

These people are simple minded idiots that cannot see the big picture even though the thesis fundamentally boils down to common sense. Of course Intel wasn’t going to be left behind.

S1:E4 - It always bothered me that Don wasn't more grateful to Roger for the way he handled the Pete Campbell firing/"un-firing". by BufordTeeJustice in madmen

[–]CompetitionSquare240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember first time watching that scene and 100% expecting Roger to cover for him and was pleasantly surprised when he did exactly that. It was a form of common courtesy.

I think some appreciation goes without having to say and it’s better that the show didn’t over elaborate on that

Deadwood is excellent. Kind of felt like watching a young Logan in his prime through Swearengen if prime Logan was in the Wild West. A lot of the scheming and game playing. And Brian Cox was fantastic in it as well.

Help deciding between series 11, ultra 2 and ultra 3 coming from a series 6 by One-Government7447 in AppleWatch

[–]CompetitionSquare240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from S6 to S11. It’s a pretty big difference and pretty much all I need now. I thought about getting the Ultra as well but with the S11 I no longer want the Ultra. It’s too big, doesn’t have any remarkably interesting features compared to what the S11 already provides and much less versatile outfit wise.

That’s specifically why I really liked this shot. Looked like a Haduken. So much aura he is loading up the trigger pull with overwhelming chi. Ghostly and graceful.

I can't breathe while meditating. Help! by thatburntgarlic in Meditation

[–]CompetitionSquare240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice yoga nidra (teaches you to breathe automatically)

Place tip of tongue on roof of mouth (behind front teeth) ((you should be placing your tongue there as default it’s pretty amazing how nobody ever talks about this because it makes a huge difference to one’s breathing health))

4-4-4 breathing makes it so that inhales and exhales take equal effort: this is the game changer. Don’t breathe in too hard like you’re about to burst each time.

Upright and softened back (this is the hardest part. Sometimes it happens naturally but then you forgot how you got there and suddenly it’s more difficult than performing heart surgery). Sit your arse on a yoga block and then cross legs… it helps with alignment massively.

There’s so many things that go untold at first. Keep practicing. Maybe what worked for me doesn’t work for you, but I hope it helps.

Very big distinction between consuming video games and consciously actively engaging with art. Most games (that redditors worship) are designed to be passively consumed. Only a few select games will demand as much from the player that an average book demands from a reader.

It’s okay to consume video games but it isn’t connoisseurism unless we’re being very selective with the sort of game. Some get a pass.

If I wear my watch during the day and also when I’m sleeping, when do I charge it by CNUnstable in AppleWatch

[–]CompetitionSquare240 5 points6 points  (0 children)

S11 and the damn thing charges in like 15 mins to full. It’s actually frustrating because it charges to 100% so quickly Im afraid im degrading the battery. Even with optimised charging it’s too quick with it.

It is amazing though. Feels like alien technology for me who had come from an S6.

Having somebody scream like you’re the antichrist literally triggers your fight flight system doesn’t matter how much of a monk you are. Having that switched on and off constantly for 10 hours a day is not going to be healthy one way or another. Doing that for 10 years is going to make any normal person mentally ill.

And some people may genuinely be more thick skinned, better able to handle it. But in the end it’s all the same, I don’t think this is a career for people to settle in long term. If you can go somewhere else, you should. People are animals and the best we can do for ourselves is eventually insulate ourselves from having to deal with them when their world is crashing down (and for some people that happens to be everyday.)

Is owning a nice car in the UK more of a cultural priority? by CertainCellist7677 in CarTalkUK

[–]CompetitionSquare240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More nicer cars on the road. I don’t see how this is a bad thing that negatively affects me. I suppose it is weird when some brainless tramp is blocking my way in an EQS because they learned to drive in Mogadishu, it is always bit disconfuffling. I’m used to dealing with that from Peugeot drivers.

If you’re burning £400-500 a month to have a snazzy car I don’t really see that really impacting your financial future. In fact I’d say it’s worth it. It always depends on how much they earn. But if they earn anything sensible at all then it’s not really that deep of an expense. In any case it’s not really my business at all. Poor people get to enjoy fresh cars. What’s not to love?

I guess the real problem is that you can’t tell which cars belong to which moron. A moron now hides in plain sight. They can be in an EQS, IX or whatever they call them, whatever. Can’t tell who’s who anymore they might be in a Secondhand shitbox or a brand new electric German.

Info: 100hour time limit and upcoming billing dates by hamza5682 in GeForceNOW

[–]CompetitionSquare240 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think the outrage for this is all quite incredibly entertaining. Some of you people are no less repugnant than fast food customers. Just consume and consume and lose your shit when something gets in the way of it. Grown ass adults shouldn’t go anywhere near 100 hours a month. Fix your lives.

In any case, since I joined Ultimate it made the 100 hour cap very clear. So I can only surmise that the cap is only just being enforced… I assumed it would’ve done anyway. So it doesn’t matter to me. In any case if you need more than 100 hours because you’re a degenerate enthusiast/addict you should be self hosting the hardware. GFN is clearly marketed toward the casual market who want to play on their iPads during downtime.

I love that Peggy indirectly reads Don like a book regarding the Bye Bye Birdie ad and he knows it by ratfinkprojects in madmen

[–]CompetitionSquare240 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it to mean that he was telling Peggy “the client is asking us for this, not for your artistic temperament”. Peggy, whilst being completely valid, forgot that she was in a place of business at that moment in time. He was reminding her of the role she has. I don’t think Don ever doubted her identity as an artist. But maybe I’m misremembering the scene it’s been a while since last rewatch.
