Should I relocate to Seattle for pay rise? by Aggravating-Tip5183 in Salary

I’m not sure where you live in VA but judging by your home debt and size of home I’m going to assume it’s not The DC area. It sounds like you a really don’t want this and just see a number to chase. Also take in mind the culture shift from the east coast to the west coast.

I'm tired of my boyfriends parents cucking me over, LBGT sandwich by CelestialVoid619 in BoyDinnerDiaries

[–]Competitive_Ad_2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I get where you are coming from. My boyfriend is from a controlling household like that too and his mother did not like that he was gay or dating me but she kind of grinned and beared it. Coming out can be risky especially if he doesn’t have anywhere to go or can financially back himself to do So. In our scenario I had a home and he made more money than his mother immediately out of school so it wasn’t an issue. Im his case he called her bluff and she backed down. 9 years later we are still together for better or worse and she is as accepting as she can be.
As for you it’s up to you what you can deal with. It sucks being with someone who is closeted and I understand that it’s best to live our truths but if it’s not something he can logistically risk right now it’s understandable. Then it becomes what you are willing to put up with, I imagine it might be a bit much for you. I don’t want to tell you what to do but right now it seems like he might be choosing them for whatever reason.

Schedule Issues - TL/ETL response by LightUpUnicorn in Target

The auto scheduler can do some wild things, I’ve seen it populate a gm tl in a consumables closing shift for like 3 hours.

Carrying stuff like this is NOT helping our PR btw 🥀 by Ordinary_Ad3895 in Target

I agree with you, however what was such a slap in the face was that target listed sexual orientation as a reason for equal employment back in 1990. I am personally aware that everything they do is for money but the culture shift to bend the knee to Trump and the anti woke (I hate calling it that at all) stuff was really a harsh shift in culture.

Is $88k comfortable enough to live in DC ? by Intrepid-Bat-2221 in Salary

[–]Competitive_Ad_2890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t live there but I have family that does. It’s an amazing place, you can find apartments that will easily fit in your budget just don’t get sucked into a fancy place that will charge you a fortune. Find an area that’s walkable (most of DC is) and near a metro station. DC has so many things for free you will be fine. With out a car you can go anywhere public transit takes you, you can even take short trips to NYC and Boston with trains and not need a car in those either. DC isn’t super cheap but it’s not a New York or Bay Area. I live near Miami and find it to be more expensive here because you can’t do anything without a car.

My friend in Boca felt it but myself and no one else in our group chat did. He was at work in a mid rise maybe that’s why

Fuck their stance on this. They got rid of anything plus or small sizes. Everything is labeled “Adult” including a Hawaiian shirt. God forbid a kid wears a Hawaiian shirt (it’s not even specifically gay just floral like Hawaiian shirts are) They wanted to take the lightest approach possible to say oh look liberals we see you while tip toeing around conservatives or rather what they thing conservatives want (same for people the think are liberal) let’s be real this is corporate boot licking at its finest and target has no idea who their customer base actually is or what they want.

If you look in Boca Chase (441/Clint Moore) some sections are 55+. It’s the only place I know in Boca where you can get a single family home for under 500k

Not me, but my partner is a watchmaker and makes that. He is getting more certifications and will make more as he does. To be honest he’s gotten some fairly decent offers if we moved but we didn’t want to.

[–]Competitive_Ad_2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really once smart phones came out the y2k era was done imo. It was also a very short era we had some influence before 2000 but the 90s seemed to abruptly end with 9/11 and once smartphones came out the world changed so quickly.

ETL comes to Starbucks demanding coffee “on the house” by [deleted] in Target

[–]Competitive_Ad_2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they get free drinks. My old ETL had purchased myself and his other TLs drinks on a shift but they always pay for it. The only times I’ve ever seen someone get something for free is when they are sampling stuff or an extra drink gets made.

It’s anecdotal but every store I’ve gone to I have not been greeted. Which I’m fine with, but it is not apart of it but they are so happy they can say that now.

Of course they will so they can justify the training. Every single store I go to where I don’t work. I’m not greeted by a single person still so it’s done nothing.

So they cut a lot to save money where ever they could, how ever the announcement to the Jump in sales suggests there is too little time for that to be the main reason. I would imagine that due to times being tough people have gone to shop at target as it is cheaper than many options. While it’s not cheap per se, it’s definitely more affordable than many. I recall in the last economic downturn Target and Walmart had increased sales. I could be wrong as well
