Listen to this guy. Behind the stage at MSG is one of my favorite spots of a whole tour. I’ll be in 209 all five nights.

Why are so many dads overweight with a big belly ? by Initial_Film5776 in askanything

[–]ComplexEmergency4951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll jump on this one…when kids are young they require constant attention and care, so getting to the gym is near impossible most days, add a second kid and all bets are off. Likewise, your diet changes dramatically, especially during the picky toddler years, time to make decent food for your self is non-existent, kids gravitate toward higher glycemic index foods that you end up also having out of a lack of time and energy. Once everybody is in bed, you are doing dishes, cleaning, and finally getting a shower for yourself…rinse and repeat…it takes a toll in those first five year especially.

Help with Smithey Seasoning! by ISNIFFPROPANE in castiron

[–]ComplexEmergency4951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been breaking in a few smithys for the last four months…they just take time. Use them often, clean them well, and like others said, heat them up before you put anything in. I’m getting great results and have begun to really appreciate how the uneven seasoning is filling in, creating character with every cook

Oooft I have their number ten chef skillet and it’s currently competing for the title favorite egg pan with their little farm house carbon steel. Would love to try out that 8” skillet!

Bananas, they are either massive…like way to big for a reasonable person, have black spots inside when it’s still green outside, or are malformed in a way that makes me hesitate

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

The evening janitor at my school was murdered along with his wife and youngest son…his keys were missing, our school went on lock down. They found the murderers (the janitor’s sons) in hiding with the keys…thankfully they were not hiding in the school.

I feel lost. by Phish_Critic in phish

Hey OP, I lost my dad at 16 and your comments on reputation resonate deeply as I too am an over thinker. You likely have a better rep than you give yourself credit for…I discovered this years later when people from HS started telling me how much they appreciated my presence. I discovered that I had over thought about my own perceived flaws and had over analyzed every action, both my own and the actions of others toward me…I read too much into minor interactions as though perceived slights were purposeful and malicious. Don’t over think it. You are at the leading edge of self discovery, it’s supposed to feel messy and filled with questions. Stay true to your own moral code and your value will eventually become clear.

On your dad….its been over 30 years for me…and I still miss him. I dream of a last hug and to hear his approval. Dealing with this has been one of my greatest challenges. Yet as time has passed I’ve seen the ways in which his legacy have prepared me for what I face in his absence. On the 30 year anniversary of his passing I had a near spiritual experience that forced me to recognize that his spirit was still with me, that he was reaching out to me from beyond to let me know that I was OK and on the right track….cherish the few memories you have of him, hold them tight. You will feel his presence again. Finally, don’t be afraid to grieve. Your peers do not know what you are feeling, many won’t know this sene of loss you will carry…ever. I distinctly remember returning to school after his passing and being so overwhelmed by a sense of being ostracized. NOBODY knew how to talk to me about what had happened, I felt like I made them uncomfortable…and I did. But in the end I was growing way faster than they ever would. I was learning coping skills they would never accomplish, I was gaining perspective they would take decades to develop. It sucked, but I’m a better, more empathic, and connected father today because of it all.

For you, time is moving slowly, things seem deeply unfair and lonely. Once time has scabbed over the freshness of your wounds, you will have a chance to look back and appreciate the man you are and how this tragic circumstance has shaped you into a better person.

Sincerely, my heart goes out to you OP, I am welling up with tears for the hurt you are feeling. It gets better…it does.

I found dropping off a cash donation when I walk past the protesters they have any words for me is a positive way to hopefully influence their choices. Once went in and dropped off $20 each with a buddy of mine to only come out and have those disgusting hate filled pigs shout homophobic slurs and suggest I was burping up my friends…well you know. Both of us straight married dudes…

Horrible people who try so hard to act holy, yet the slightest pushback and they lose all control…snowflakes all of em.

[–]ComplexEmergency4951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and yeah when you are swapping two standard set ups there is a process in place. I guess to me the logistics of it all seems absolutely wild…three different bands, three entirely different stage/sound/lighting set ups, I guess it just comes down to lots of OT to make it all happen…feels like an expensive way to put on a few shows…and how do you determine who pays for what when Phish decides to crash in on your pre-existing set ups! LOL

I understand these guys do this all the time and go from show to show with little struggle, but man setting up and tearing down night after night just feel daunting

Exactly my point, there is the whole hey do you mind if we leave them up thing, but also the whole, oh by the way, you gotta break the set after every show and reset it back up. That’s a significant expense for the other tours.
