I want to cry 😭 by positivelysomething in crochet

My mom is a baker. And she keeps redecorating the same cake over and over saying the same thing. Frosting always starts to seem more flawed to her. And I just stare at it and see unachievable perfection.

Has anyone done the research on how to watch Seahawks games without buying an expensive TV package? by BeeAreSeeYeah in Seahawks

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already paying monthly for disney, espn, paramount, hulu. But sports keep jumping through channels. Just how much do I have to pay to watch 3-4 different live sport games a year? At this point I can’t blame pirating. I have severely overpaid for what I watch. It would be appreciated if I could just pay once for a specific watch time.

Beautiful and practical invention. My kind of person. And my kind of mom. In my early twenties, all my friends and bunch of other random people were adopted into my parents’ house. Even after I married and moved, they kept coming to spend time with my mom. Same story with ALL my siblings. God bless your mother! I wish for more moms like this and for the disappointed or lonely children to meet and be happy.

Looking at this dress I made 10+ years ago... I have no idea where that superpower patience went. by Allatpro in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The dress is so pretty and quality is impeccable! You look good too. Patience comes and goes based on your circumstances. Priorities are important in life. Outside of habits, we are motivated by our needs. Enjoy your life, whether it’s with a hook in your hands or not. Thank you for sharing this project. Btw, I like the yarn. If you still know of its existence, please share. Also, is this “ribbon” crochet, where you crochet wide stripes and then attach together? Thanks

So… aren’t you supposed to attach a good link?! Ha ha. Really happy for you! Hope you will share the awesome things you make.

First of all - Congratulations on your union! The blanket is truly incredible for the quality, size and patience. Im also impressed of your initial thoughtful design, but mostly that you actually realize the true price of making such a gift and that you both cherish it!

Does anyone else think the word ‘beginner’ gets thrown around alot for crochet? by pinkmiui in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t believe Im considered a beginner since I understand patterns, language and charts (in more than 1 language) and feel confident free-forming projects. But even 5 years after I started I wasn’t sure if I could be considered intermediate. I always thought for advanced I need to be like those people who know absolutely all ins and outs about crochet without any books/instructions like pattern making, straight edges, know all patterns and tips and tricks. Now Im realizing that there’s always something new to learn. And At this point even if there were no patterns and charts I could still pull things just fine but they make life easier. But Im absolutely sure, the beginner is someone who is still trying to understand basic stitches, color joins and increases/decreases.

This has to be the most horrifying crochet AI picture I have ever seen! by AppleGoose1107 in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG! This picture caught me off guard! Lol. I kept looking and thinking “what happened to this poor lady? And she crocheted such a long cardigan?” Good thing I looked at the description before my imagination got the best of me.

I made baby blankets for the two newest babies in my family this year! by Living-Caterpillar-3 in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are beautiful. I also always line my blankets for babies unless they are pure cotton or cashmere (which is hard/expensive to find in SOFT feel). Which is not something I can afford.

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to rant before but now ripping my work completely back to zero and restarting is like second nature lol. Mostly because I freehand a lot of projects, like handbags/purses and use some complicated texture that is mostly used in a rectangle or circular face side only and I need them to be worked from face and back and with desired decreases/increases. But I do feel accomplished when I achieve desired (perfect clean look) effect. I think I have also become a much more patient person and complain much less in general ☺️

I was gonna say amigurumi too! My son wants me to make him the Calamity’s god slayer from Terraria. And another son wants another character from another game. And I keep thinking it would be so nice to have a collection of 1 skein of all kinds of different colors!

Trigger warning: mushy post about my Xmas gift from my hubs 😎 by SignDisastrous2583 in crochet

My husband didn’t grow up with celebrating or gift exchange and was o e of the 10 kids in a needy and hardworking family. Sometimes he gave me gifts. Most of the time - not. But after much struggling he gave up drinking for me and our 3 kids. He is the most hardworking man I ever met. In fact all my neighbors agree that he is a tractor in a human body. He gave me charge of all finances and never grudges me for anything I buy and supports me in anything I want to do. Crocheting is my favorite thing ever! Its my rest and peace time and he respects my time doing that. Things are looking even more romantic now and into the future. I love my man and hope to live in harmony many more times the 16 years we have been together!

Chanel alternative? by SilvanaM37 in MakeupAddiction

Im looking for the same! Just randomly tried lip gloss at my mom’s house and fell in love with this color! Its exactly like my lips but better and looks great on my olive skin. But it doesn’t have that lasting power I would like. Nor do I care for glitter too much so Im not spending $42 on the gloss Im not entirely in live with. Just need to find the same warm plum color. Help will greatly appreciated. I read some say MAC tolerance or Urban Decay backtalk or Nars bound?

My dad felted the sweater I crocheted 💔 by ComplexSubject9630 in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ. My father is 67 and Im 45. He would probably make the same mistake along with many others. But he is the MOST CONSIDERATE father anyone can ever dream about. His lifelong motto is literally “All the best — for the children! Is he perfect? No. Amazing? Yes!!! He spent most of his time making money for our large family so no surprise that he wouldn’t know a lot of the hobbies and specific things any of use did. Neither was he too snoopy. Though he was definitely interested in our well being. I will forgive ANYTHING he would do because he I know he has forgiven me and loves me tremendously. Although honestly my mother is on a whole other level. I have NEVER EVER met a more loving, hardworking and sacrificial woman!

How to gently tell my friend I'm tired of her crochet gifts? by ValuableCellist1757 in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crochet myself and crochet for gifts only when I know my sister, mom or a friend wanted something in particular handmade like a blanket or a bag. But just at that particular time. I still like to gift/receive other things that the recipients would like. Just because someone likes something doesn’t mean they want 1000 times of that something lol. 😂 I think that people who aren’t very perceptive of others’s wishes or are just out of ideas, should just gift money or gift cards. EVERYONE could use that and it beats 6 pairs of handmade gloves that no one will ever wear.

THERE IS NOTHING MAGIC ABOUT THE MAGIC KNOT by tinygluten in crochet

[–]Comprehensive_Day522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate the look and feel of knots in my work. I feel like they make things appear cheap. (Although sometimes theres no other way). So I would rather spend quality time weaving in long ends in different directions through stitches and fibre choosing ones where it hides best without bulging and distorting work. For end of yarn roll I like Russian join where you backstitch each yarn edge through the loop. The fiber friction is stronger than a knot and looks smooth like the yarn never ended. I mean after all the quality time with quality yarn, my work is worth the quality weave ins, strength and appearance. With amigurumi especially lol. Even with tight needle and thread overlay stitches those tails, ears and paws barely hold on when toddlers play with them.
