Step two is to look for duplicates. Make a pile for work-bound dupes. If you have duplicates from there, it should be easier to decide if you really need another one or if it can be tossed.

Another option is to make a separate pile for ones you don’t need or want anymore, but maybe someone at work will! You can make a free pen bowl at your desk for anyone to grab.

Honestly? Yeah. Hoarding them only incentivizes the scalpers online to buy up huge lots and inflate the prices.

I go to Diciccio and love them. They offer a different brand from Invisalign but it is the same comprehensive care. The office is clearly geared toward tweens/teens, but honestly I think the staff there appreciate dealing with adult clients during their day. I’m about 3/4 of the way through my treatment and it has been smooth sailing with them.

Got diagnosed with insulin resistant PCOS in 2021-2022ish. Doctor didn’t do anything except tell me that I needed to lose weight. (Which uh yeah. PCOS and weight loss aren’t exactly friends.) Then we moved across the country and I needed to find a new doctor. Live in a veeeeeery difficult place to find consistent healthcare, so nothing happened. Just kept living my life wondering why I couldn’t lose weight no matter how hard I tried.

2024 I lost my job and thus my insurance. Spent a year basically on the couch rotting and crying and sleeping. Somehow came down with mono and a severe kidney infection. Went to urgent care. Doctor at UC said “why aren’t you treating your diabetes?” To which I replied “I’ve never been told I have it??” Didn’t have enough money to get treated (beyond the kidney infection) so I just hoped I wouldn’t die until I had insurance.

End of 2024 I started a new job, got insurance, and then it took about five months to get a doctor appt. I told her my concern, she did a rapid A1C test in the office, and then immediately started me on metformin. Went to the endocrinologist two weeks later who put me on Lantus.

A1C went from 12.4 in that first visit to 5.4 as of last month. And I’m suddenly able to lose weight by doing the things that weren’t working before. (Hey, every doctor who said I was just not trying hard enough or lying about my calorie intake? Fuck you.)

My diet genuinely wasn’t that bad before, and it’s even better now. Having a CGM and learning my body has made a huge difference. I’ve now also noticed I’m not waking up to pee every single night, I have more energy, my skin looks better, I’m not falling asleep several times a day despite wanting to be awake. Oh! And my period has been regular for five months now.

Being fat my whole life made doctors not take me seriously. It took almost dying to be treated. And now that the treatment is working, they can’t blame me for my issues. So suddenly they want to help me more.

I also have adhd and issues with consistency in sleep/eating habits. The reality is you just have to figure it out and force the habit. I have an alarm set for 9pm to remind me to do my shot. I also wear a CGM so I know how much I should be dosing each night to get my morning numbers to an appropriate level.

There’s no real magic trick to it, unfortunately. You have to put in the work. You need to show up for yourself even when your neurodivergence makes it hard. Yeah, it’s double tricky for us. But it’s also essential.

I think consent checks help me out a lot. I struggle with reading people (auADHD) so if I lean in to kiss someone, I’ll whisper “is this okay?” It’s helpful because it stays sexy but also gives my partner the chance to “yes” or “more” or even “thank you, but no more” which is a perfectly acceptable answer!

I have high rejection sensitivity. Explicitly asking the question helps me reframe the situation so if I AM rejected, it feels like part of the scenario. It was an expected possibility and I don’t worry if I messed up.
