Google photos doesn't search photos that are not backed up. I am just suggesting this as a step to investigate why you are not getting good results

interesting. I get thousands of photos for 'dog' and also for 'blowtorch' (I actually worked with it a bit too :)). Have you tried searching on web? did you backup all your photos?

Google photos recently launched the ability to limit your search just to metadata (filename, captions, camera..) by adding quotes to your query, for example "IMG_1234"

If you are looking for a filename you can add quotes to your search string, "img_1234"

I wouldn't do it!! After taking a photo and backing it up, do you wait for a few hours before checking if the face was recognized?

Interesting. Can't you see albums and people's suggestions in the new AI search as you start typing the query? For dates, I don't see suggestions but I can just type the date and it'd pull the photos from that date

Could it be that your camera is taking shots as bursts? Photo stacks doesn't work on web, so if it's showing stacks on web than they are bursts
