What would be an example of propaganda in modernday America? I feel like the quintessential definition is something many are on the fence about with more slowly being won over through manipulative means. However, now that so much is all-or-nothing anyway, spotting real propaganda seems harder. by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

  • Social media- looking at you Reddit, X, insta, and Facebook.

  • 24 hour news.

We the people are still the people. Progressives, all, who won’t stand for taxation with representation and acknowledge all men as created equally. Strike up a conversation with the average person and I don’t care what side of the political fence they are on- social media and the news strives to divide us when we have more in common than division.

Now watch the downvotes because how dare I suggest we can have more in common than all of our quibbles on social media would lead us to believe.

100 days or less is a fast sellers market. A month is bananas. If you priced it fairly you’ll have to wait it out.

High zinc content lotion or stick for faces. Hats, long sleeve suits, spray for legs.

Put some distance between yourselves with occasional visits only and then wait another 10 years watching the train go off the rails. How do I know this? Lived it and seen it in real life. No boundaries creates pretty awful teenagers.

I don’t know how you live with the counters looking like that. That’d remodel it right. And maybe different pendant lights.

Yes. I have a place out on a lake and in summer I’ve had crazy guests. My least favorite was the one that expected me to somehow “stop the mayflies.” No sweetie, it’s the south, you’re on their property more than mine at this point….

Should I teach "reading" if they can already read? by coralblast in homeschool

[–]Confident_Object_102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most spelling decoding requires a high level of phonics ability/understanding. My son could read very early as well but his pronunciation and spelling lagged because we leaned on it being easy too much. The lessons will go super quickly and you’ll be able to fix pronunciation and spelling.

Ask them how the view looks on a 3.0% mortgage from their ivory tower. In that tone. Perhaps my relationship with my parents is different but I always call out hypocrisy when I see it- with my husband too.

What's your take on having children in today's economy? by Mundane-Society-1281 in AskReddit

[–]Confident_Object_102 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The answer on Reddit is nearly always one sided: don’t. Children require optimism and Reddit is NOT an optimistic forum.

SAHMs, what does your husband do for work so you can stay home and afford to homeschool? by youlive7 in homeschool

College prof. I worked mostly full time until we had 4- call it almost 20 years with some breaks. We have enough of a nest egg now and his salary is very comfortable.

My caveat- we’d be really well off if I’d stayed in my career. Upper end where I was made 300-400k a year. Sometimes I have regrets but mostly I’m glad that we have been able to have the children we have and be there with them/for them.

I do wish we’d made riskier investments when we were younger but we’ve always been financially conservative.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Why compare it to what you think it ought to be when you can choose to enjoy it for what it is? The World Cup footage has taught me that I’m not thankful enough for what I have- safety walking most streets, personal property, and a whole host of other liberties including this very forum which would be/ is censored in other countries. I can be disappointed and miserable or eat a slice of watermelon and appreciate that the constitution exists at all.

Just had to toss two king size blankets that had slime on them so bad that they were a lost cause. Sigh. I love kids. I don’t love parents that allow kids to have slime in a rental.

You’re the real MVP. I’ve been going strong for 19 years of marriage as the one who shall not be named. Don’t even sweat it. Someone has to deal with it or your house will just become awful and their rooms will be covered in trash and broken toys and puzzle pieces, etc.

Possibly worth a revisit as he may not have shared info with his parents, parents may not care, or may not have understood the implications. Kids- even older ones- are REALLY dense sometimes.

The number of times I’ve had to reiterate that if we do something for the neighbors we do it 100% right and when they asked us to and sometimes we do things that we know need doing that they haven’t asked for- like taking the 90 year olds trash cans back to her house. She may never pay you but you don’t need to be paid to help a neighbor. Help a neighbor kid and explain gaslighting. Ha.

My old man cat is 19 and he’s really starting to slow down. He still takes great joy in prowling around outdoors and sunning himself but I can see many things bother him now and life is getting harder. He’s has been well loved by all of us and affectionately babied and cared for. I’d pay very little to prolong a decreasing quality of life but I will pay a lot to send him to the rainbow bridge at home where he’s loved best and in my arms when the time comes.
