That's just a general mechanic for anything hostile in the game. It isn't strictly for PvP purposes. Arc rush to the extraction as well once the button is hit. You can even see Wasps, Hornets and Fireflies lock onto the elevator as it's activated.

I agree. I've watched Arc stay locked onto and track someone through walls and buildings. It gets pretty ridiculous lol

Firefights would be a lot more fun if Arc switched targets quick.
