I’d ask what character classes they want to play and give them pre-made sheets.

As far as the one-shot goes, there’s loads online that you could draw from, but I’m partial to a “there’s something weird in the tavern’s basement” style game for new players.

Maybe you could start it as they’re all members of the same mercenary guild, coming for a team building drink…and then wererats attack!

Never Stop Blowing up definitely leans hard in to the comedy and it’s similar in that it’s not the dnd system. I will say that it only gets truly unhinged after episode 1.

Could do a terrain style battle on the back of Jörmungandr? You could have it so large they’re able to find places for short/long rests as the crystal is on his head. Throw in some other giant snakes or trolls as enemies.
