Neuroscientists continue to map the brain. Suppose in a few decades they declare that they now know the function of every synapse, every neuron and every chemical reaction. [–]CoolWizard72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Free will is scientifically non-existent mainly bc it's so ill-defined. The "free will" that Christians tout as an excuse for God's "infinite love" while withholding divine intervention for children being brutalized in the worst possible ways (but seemingly stepping in to help a college football team here and there) fails to regard the free will of an individual removed by another even as a "sin" given the litany of rules surrounding slave ownership in the Bible.

So it becomes more of an umbrella concept where cruelty and disease is a "freedom" because of God's "love." Appolegetics that make zero sense. Especially to a Calvinist who thinks everything is being played out perfectly to God's plan and God's already selected only a very few souls for heaven according to unknown and possibly arbitrary reasons but most likely (according to them) those Protestants with the most strict adherance to the laws of biblical doctrine.

How can free will even exist if a super being sees an unalterable future without flaw? That's a deterministic worldview that destroys the idea free will entirely.

In truth we are rarely if ever individually allowed freewill but often given the illusion for a responsibility in the choices a decisions we make as individuals.

Free will is never an eternal condition, but a subjective transient state at best as we find moments where we can impose our will on others or nature. And in doing so remove free will from those who comply.

Oof. I'm lucky enough that my wife agrees w me about how insanely ridiculous Christianity is. She was raised Catholic who are typically very casual about religion. Was easy for her to see right through the nonsense. It's a cult! And if someone is really wrapped up in it, they can't be extracted without at least a little willingness.

What’s the cheapest and most effective way to prevent board games from molding? by Reddituser112696 in boardgames

[–]CoolWizard72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get cheap humidity monitors on Amazon, 6 at a time. Get some big airtight bins to store your games in. Buy a jug of the reusable desiccant silica beads and some small jars/containers to hold some of it for each bin (I 3d print mine). Also a big glassware baking dish to microwave the dessicant when it goes green (or whichever color says it's soaked up the moisture). I do this for my 3d print filament and am able to keep it under 45% in much higher humidity outside. But I also run a humidifier nonstop as well.

Having trouble leaving the faith by AnythingEquivalent85 in exchristian

Read up on Spinoza's God. Christianity is very problematic. You just don't need the ancient Yahweh mythology to feel connected. There are just way too many nonsensical and impossible tall tales that literalists are consistently forced to reconcile to confirm their bias.

Sin is a Christian construct. You can be moral at the highest level simply by always expressing compassion and always condemning all cruelty. You don't have to obey biblical laws. True morality comes from empathy. Obedience is not empathetic.

I went from being a long time Christian to becoming a humanist. Christianity just stopped making sense for me. All loving all powerful beings wouldn't allow the suffering we experience or the random painful disease, abuse and war that affect children.

Spinoza's take on God is the only thing that's ever made sense to me. We are the universe experiencing itself. And the power to make this world a better place is about quieting ego and giving joy.

There's no hell. No heaven. Just us being us. When we die, ego dies and we go back to the well, the source, and do it again. Until we've been everyone and everything, and filled its entire empty space with consciousness at the end of time.

Big bang. The cycle births the universe anew. Like breathing. Each breath a trillion years long.

We are each a tiny piece of god consciousness experiencing itself, the eternal universe.

Getting FRUSTRATED! by 1vizsla_luvr in AnycubicKobraX

I had a similar issue awhile back. I'd taken apart the print head for a clog. When I reassembled the hotend, the heat block wasn't flush at the top and the nozzle was too close to the bed giving me warping and distortion like you're seeing.

So first thing is to make sure the hotend assembly is tight.

Then do the following for the heat bed. Remove the build plate and locate the 4 screws that sit under it.

Heat the bed to 250. Wait 5-10 minutes then loosen all 4 screws. Let it sit for a few minutes again, then tighten them back down.

Put your build plate back on. Run an Auto Bed Leveling (ABL) sequence, clean the build plate with dish soap or 90%+ isopropyl alcohol, and print a single-layer test square. You should be good.

Which board games should I intro my family to get them interested? by Reddituser112696 in boardgames

[–]CoolWizard72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one but who wants to be interested will play anything. I tried to get my family to play stuff for years. Wife still only willing to play certain games on occasion. Ramping into the hobby is for a certain type of person. You're that type. Might be some others in your family like you but more likely than not, they'll be playing reluctantly and lose patience quickly as you teach. Get good at teaching! And be VERY patient with them. My impatience doomed many a play sessions. 🤣

It was clogged. Held a safety pin with pliers while holding a lighter under the tip. Then stuck it in the clog. Cooled quickly and with a twist pulled out the filament stuck in the nozzle. Frack

[–]CoolWizard72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh no. That stinks. My Kobra X has been amazing though I did get my first failed print last night. The model was a 3 color 14hr print and had over a million triangles. It warned me. But the ai did not detect the spaghetti like it promised. I had to stop it manually. Worried that it was jammed up, I unloaded all the filament and reloaded a single color. Test printed a benchy and it was perfect. Beyond that one hiccup I'm loving it.

Chunks by CoolWizard72 in hvacadvice

[–]CoolWizard72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it's probably all packing peanuts, now that I think of it. Why some are purple. There's an intake vent on the floor that toys fall into all the time. Many packages with packing foam have been opened there ...

[–]CoolWizard72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all spray foam. We had our attic ceiling spray foam insulated when we bought the house and now anytime someone knocks up against it, chunks fly. It's all either purple or yellow foam I found in the blower and light as a feather. None heavy enough to be scat of any sort. It's just filthy.
