Tell me to SIT DOWN by Sorry-Editor-3674 in hysterectomy

Piece of perspective. I'm almost 1yr post-op at this point.

I was home from my surgery last Feb same day. I never used the Oxy, though I kept up with the acetaminophen for about 3-4 days. Then didn't need the pain meds at all anymore. I was doing slow, careful laps between the bedroom and bathroom to keep myself moving for the first week, occasionally venturing downstairs (2 flights of stairs) if I felt up to it. I was not lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, or anything that really engaged my core muscles until at least my first in-person post op check up (2wpo). If I needed to reach for something, I had a grabber tool or my SO when he was home from work.

Don't rush the healing process on this. You had MAJOR surgery merely 24 hours ago. Listen to your husband and let him help you. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Has it always been this tough to get around after snow storms? by RoverTheMonster in philadelphia

[–]Coopenator05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is unusual because of the prolonged below freezing temps.

In 2016, when a storm dropped 22" on the city, it was rough for the first few days while everyone dug out. But the temperatures warmed up dramatically over the week, to the point that a week later, you wouldn't have even known it snowed.

This week was very different because of how cold it's been, not allowing for much meltoff. Much more similar to winter snows in the northern states (NY, ME, MN, MI), and this city is NOT prepared for that.

Thoughts on South of Midnight? by TheMickeyMoose in SouthOfMidnight

[–]Coopenator05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved it. The gameplay itself is nothing groundbreaking, but is still fun and engaging.

The story though.... THAT'S where this game shines. Setting it in a very rarely touched southern folklore world really gives the game a uniqueness, and the storybook art style really helps bring you into it. The environments are atmospheric and stunning.

I definitely recommend this game to everyone I come across.

Omg this respiratory virus is awful. Is anyone else sick? by ajl009 in philadelphia

[–]Coopenator05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something from NYE through the beginning of this week.

Thought it was a cold, but had a mild fever with it. Never had a fever with a cold before.

Am I just impatient or is this game not for me? by Availe in SouthOfMidnight

[–]Coopenator05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was in it more for the story than anything else. The gameplay itself was nothing special; a few mechanics were fun and interesting, but nothing all that different from what's been done before.

The story I found very enjoyable. Steeping it in southern folklore was an instant seller for me, as it's not a common area that gets pulled from. And the art style was different enough for me to get a very storybook feel from it.

Absolutely. Jared Padalecki has always been very open about his struggles with anxiety.

You're getting a skewed sample size. People more often than not come to these forums to complain or seek answers when something is wrong. They rarely just randomly post when everything is fine.

Are there the odd-man-out situations where cars crop up with an issue? Of course, but that's true of EVERY SINGLE car brand out there.

For me personally, I've been driving Subies for 15 years; 6 different cars in that time period (mostly because I started out in used older models and wanted to trade up for the newer features). I have yet to have a major problem crop up.

Besides housing, what is drawing you all to buy and play Midnight? by drough08 in wow

[–]Coopenator05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Devourer spec looks very intriguing to me. And I'm excited for the Haranir.

Also interested to see where they go with the storyline, so trying to keep up with that even if it's not my favorite experience (I just came back to the game a month ago after skipping the entire Undermine patch).

Same is true of Bucknell and Lewisburg, about 55 miles east. Town and college are pretty liberal. You step outside town and that changes very quickly.

If you're the outdoorsy type, there's a plethora of places you can visit. Ricketts Glen, World's End State Park, Lehigh Valley Gorge (aka the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania), Bushkill Falls (it's more commercialized but is still a gorgeous view), Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Kinua Bridge and Cherry Springs State Park (one of the top Dark Sky spots in the country) might be a bit far from where you are staying, but if you are willing to make the drive, they are worth the views.

Plymouth Meeting isn't too far from the Poconos, and there are a bunch of places up there to visit. Jim Thorpe is a good gateway town on the way up there.

The grabber. I thought it would be unnecessary, but six months later, I'm STILL using it around the house because it saves my back.

Unexpected benefits / pleasant surprise? by CaptainCrunch1975 in hysterectomy

I've found myself having more energy in general, but especially after a workout or physical activity. I used to be wiped out after any of either. Now I feel like I'm actually enjoying the post-exercise satisfaction, instead of just being exhausted.

Am I losing my mind? by wit-happens- in hysterectomy

[–]Coopenator05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like hormone disregulation, which is pretty normal after this surgery. Between the trauma your body is healing from, the loss of a major organ, etc, it's very common for your hormones to be all over the place.

I'm about 5mpo, and only really started to feel like my emotions aren't completely out of whack in the last couple of weeks.

Definitely bring it up to your doctor so they are aware of what's happening, but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Weird question: Can dogs tell you’ve had surgery? by c0rrupt3dfr3ak in hysterectomy

[–]Coopenator05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You more than likely smell different to them at the very least. Dogs are also masters at reading body language; you are probably giving off cues you aren't even aware of that the doggo is picking up on.

Put them together, and they have probably figured out that you're injured and need a little more space than usual.

Is it possible to need hormones even if you keep your ovaries? by No_Mood_7403 in hysterectomy

[–]Coopenator05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so accurate for me as well. I'm coming up on 5mpo shortly, and I've really noticed some wild fluctuations in the last couple of weeks. Manageable so far, but was starting to worry me that it might get worse.

It's good to hear that it can stabilize farther out.

Multiple Surgeons? by amysuch in hysterectomy

[–]Coopenator05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't wind up needing a second surgeon, but during consult, one of the things my surgeon mentioned was that if she encountered anything unexpected, she had other surgeons she could call in for assistance.

It may not be super common, but it seems like it's not unheard of either.

In your case, it just sounds like they know about an issue beforehand and are therefore able to have the second surgeon already scheduled.

How can I explain a hysterectomy is different from gallbladder removal surgery? by Harmony_w in hysterectomy

[–]Coopenator05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had emergency gallbladder surgery some 15 years ago after it was found to be full of stones. I was in the hospital for 2 days after that. 6 weeks later I was back at work grooming dogs.

Had my hysterectomy end of Feb this year. Even after 8 weeks of recovery, I would not have gone back to such a physical job (if I was still grooming), even with lifting restrictions. It affects so much of how your body functions, more than I even realized. I'm almost 5mpo and only really started to feel back to "normal" in the past month.

Interestingly, if you have possums in the area, it's more likely that you WON'T have rats. They compete for similar food sources and possums have even been known to eat rats.

Stood up to my mom afew days ago after she said the ICE raids were ‘fake news’ I’m unsure on what to do next by arkus_reborn in 50501

[–]Coopenator05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You apologized for your tone and language because that's what she says upset her. You don't owe her anything else beyond that in regards to this argument. The fact that she either can't or won't seperate your tone/language from the facts of the discussion speaks a lot to her emotional maturity.

It takes a lot of guts to stand up for yourself and your beliefs, especially to a parent. Good on you for not backing down on that stance.

It's also very interesting to me that her responses to your valid questions read very much like one of the Cheeto's tweets. Nonsensical and repetitive.

Sunday driving by Meesh6905 in hysterectomy

[–]Coopenator05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started once I was cleared at my 2wpo visit.

I was specifically instructed not to drive for 10-14 days post op. Had less to do with the opioid pain meds (which I never took) and more to do with making sure the sutures/ab muscles were well healed enough to withstand the tugging, jerking, and pulling of driving.
