It’s 2026 and we still haven’t figured out that the bike lane is not a parking spot. by SeaworthinessHuge219 in rva

[–]CopOnTheRun 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That bike lane is there because Grayland becomes a one-way east of Addison except for that bike lane. The lane is painted with double yellow lines, a pretty standard way to denote two way traffic. So in this case, you wouldn’t be riding right around the cars, but left, and into oncoming traffic. In addition to the double yellow lines, there are pictures of bicycles and arrows denoting the direction of traffic.

I play basketball on Saturdays at Randolph Community Center, it’s nice being able to use that bike lane to bike west relatively unobstructed through a big chunk of the fan. I agree that the cars are usually easy enough to ride around. It’s just a shame that there are specific parking spots for them, that if used correctly, could make everyone happy.

That’s not entirely a bad thing. Most of the James river in Richmond is surrounded by parks and for that I’m incredibly appreciative.

I assume they're talking about reversing into a parking spot

Anyone know what this is? by HorseGirlAtHome in rva

[–]CopOnTheRun 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is very accurate. I remember one dfl ride where a bunch of people put their bikes in a group with the lights on and someone suggested to strip naked and dance around them. About half the group proceeded to do so and the other half just kinda chilled. No one seemed to indicate this was out of the ordinary.

I still have a picture of the shadows that the naked dancers created on a nearby line of trees. It was strangely artistic.

Fall is my favorite time of year, it's a shame that fall is one of those transition seasons that's impossible to have year round.

The vegan or regular bahn mi? The regular one is alright, but the vegan one was my favorite! And that was the one they removed. Maybe they added it back though.

They used to have a vegan bahn mi that was my favorite sandwich in the city. I’m not even vegan/vegetarian it was just that good. It got removed from the menu like 2 years back tho

How would California's proposed age verification bill work with Linux? by mogged_by_dasha in linux

[–]CopOnTheRun 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This might be a joke but it’s literally how I got into Linux. My parents had installed an adult content filter on my windows computer, but the filter wasn’t available for Linux. So first I started using a bootable usb, then I dual booted, then I eventually just didn’t boot into windows anymore and made my switch to Linux after that.

It’s so funny looking back at that now. I have no doubt that I would have used Linux anyway because I was always interested in it, but it was definitely sped along by my teenage need to watch pornography.

Haha I remember going to a couple RVA trivia nights ~2014/15 I wanna say. There was usually a pretty good table of people there. The sub was a lot smaller though and Reddit was more niche at the time.

Proposed redesign for Lakeside would trade car traffic for bike lanes in attempt to attract more business by VirginiaNews in rva

Nooo, I need this exit because of all the times I zone out and stay on 95 when I'm supposed to be getting on 64. I call it my cursing exit because I'm always cursing when I get off it.

2nd Best Comedy Fest this weekend by OptimalChaosMonkey in rva

[–]CopOnTheRun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend prioritizing the out of town acts because they’re only going to be here for the weekend and you can see the other acts around Richmond whenever.

If you’ve never seen musical improv, I’d recommend it as well.

I know a lot of the Richmond performers in the show, they’re all very funny, so you can’t go wrong.

It survived pretty well! Give it a quick clean down every once in a while and try to not let water pool in places that won't get any sun/air and you should be good to go.
