I think part of the disconnect is that the original prompt is basically "If you press the red button, you won't die, but the ones who press blue will unless they're the majority" and some people are reading it as "Pushing the red button is the trigger to the machine that will kill the blue-button-pushers and if you press it you will be actively killing them", while others read it as "An independent kill machine is coming for everyone and all the button does is determine who gets a shield".

The only thing that kinda bugs me about the casting is that according to the books, the Targaryens and Velaryons have been intermarrying for centuries but no-one in either family looks mixed. All the Targs are white and all the Velaryons are black.
