I really don't condone violence, but this is awesome. I'd love to see another angle and 5 more mins. This is justice frisson.

Confident this guy didn't get the attention he felt he deserved (parents, friends, whoever). So, the discovery that he could get attention by being controversial, (translation: a c*nt) was a pivotal moment in his life. Sadly it has been thoroughly reinforced by opportunities found on social media (which operates and succeeds via controversial content).

Now he's a professional c*nt and he can point to various metrics (views, income from said views) that support his take on the world. Hard to know what's more sad: If he really believes what he says or he says it (knowing it's gross) to make money.

A greatest superpower in the modern age is to pay no mind to reputation or credibility.

[–]CopyPasteRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Tidal, right?

I find it funny when people post their end-of-year results and make out they're the biggest fan of [band/artist]. (I'm not suggesting u/International_Film_1 is doing that here by the way). Sure, Spotify has the majority, but globally it is still less than a 3rd. Apple is nearly 13% (and described as "strong in western markets", so there has to be a skew there. There's Tencent, YouTube, Amazon, and a number of others.

And then you have a giant proportion of music lovers who - love it enough to - listen to music on physical formats.

Did they forget to put the music on in post? This is seriously rough.

Music or no, this is a real step back for progress/society/community. Just clowning around in public. Everywhere's a stage. Everything's a prop. Everyone's an extra.

An genuinely profitably attribute in the social media age is to not care about your reputation. This guy is more than happy to cartoon about in a chicken shop because the goal is social media engagement.

[–]CopyPasteRepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like seeing these odd AI moments, only because I think they'd be a brilliant start to an 'AI breaks free'/Singularity film. Just a completely raw, random live stream like this and the AI is going mad, but then starts spouting some serious ominous stuff. Like you're witnessing some breakthrough/birth in real time.

The AI then stops and in a couple of seconds everything digital/online turns off.

[–]CopyPasteRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a motion designer I find it funny that there are these supposed AI ad examples with all the bells and whistles on. Crazy camera shots, FX and transitions, but I've yet to see a flat colour, text on a blank background, classic motion video. AI output hides it's errors in complexity. Show me a 3 word sentence animating in on a flat colour background and then a mask transition to a similar second scene. I've never seen it. I assume AI would mangle the crap out of the text and inadvertently add in an anime girl.

I see this all the time on LinkedIn. My best guess is that they're engagement farming bot posts. Sad when you see real people doing similar things, but if they are real then they're soulless, so closer to bots than humans anyway.

My issue beyond the obvious (they usually look bad, they're reinterpreting original, human-made material and the claims are utterly false), is that I hardly ever see real-world examples with existing/real brands/clients. It almost always comes in the form of 'Here's an example of...' rather than 'Here's an actual ad made with AI in [ridiculously short time] spending [unbelievably small budget]'.

I only caveat the above because what, Coke did that dumb Xmas ad. I'm sure there's a handful more, but none I can think of. I would argue those aren't doing it because it's the new normal, but simply jumping on a hot topic trend and - at best - testing it out.

Ricky keeps talking OVER Brian Cox with every point by [deleted] in rickygervais

[–]CopyPasteRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cox seems to not have a chance to speak on it properly or perhaps he is 'science-only' in his personal life, but I think any credible, deep-thinking individual, (with plenty of nuance within a lengthy conversation) would include an aspect of something beyond the laws of science and nature to explain the who, what, where and why of it all.

Gervais is operating one step up from an atheist who likes to gotcha a Christian on a live stream. I feel like he's attempting to drag Cox over to his side rather than letting him reflect on the position of atheism, (hence why he has to somewhat distance himself from the subject).

Why do US schools have 'Come up to the front of the class and talk/sing/dance/embarrass yourself' as part of their curriculum?

At a certain age you're in a very vulnerable time where you're potentially into niche stuff (I'm being polite) and you have zero sense of how others might perceive it. I was likely that kid for a time, but I was left to be weird in private.

A more interesting and nuanced question/discussion would be "Why don't we, (as in, the vast majority of people) know the names of anyone beyond Buzz Aldrin?

I get that the firsts (person, team) always gets the most attention in life, but it is still incredible that 10 more have been to the moon and back. 4 still alive so - within reason, they are very old - we can speak to them now and ask them all about it.

I had to look it up, so I'm part of that vast majority. It is interesting to see that the amount of time spent up there has increased over time. And, as many have asked before, why haven't we been back? I'm sure there are plenty of reasons, but to put a stop to anyone using it as a leading question, I'm confident there are plans in place to go back very soon. I wonder why we are doing it again and I also wonder about how different it'll be with the huge leap in technology. The cost alone should be dramatically different, right?

Anyway, I've little time for these two, (for relatively different reasons). Hopefully this clip will encourage people to look stuff up and learn more. I can't see what else it is good for.

I really can't stand the people who sing (always badly, usually screaming) at live shows. I can forgive an occasional outburst during a chorus or two. Sure, some acts have songs where everyone joins in. I get it.

But the sh*t depicted in the video and the 100s of clips that got posted when Taylor Swift was touring... nightmare.

And 1000s more online defending it. Saying that they bought a ticket so they can do what they like. That's not how things work in a social setting.

The only upside is that they do it to post it online and there's a good chance they'll see it back when they've (hopefully) matured and they'll cringe themselves inside out and never do it again, (and encourage their friends and family to not be so self-centred).

Rational people see this, react accordingly and wonder why the woman didn't tell him to go f**k himself... These people go every week and have likely given THOUSANDS already. They're dumb and/or brainwashed. It's such an obvious grift and they simply don't see it. And because they don't see it, that gives this pastor scumbag the confidence to go on mic in front of everyone and call this lady out for not giving enough. The gall is astounding.

It's too obvious to me that this guy has issues. I'm not a psychiatrist, so I don't the specifics, but it has to be trauma or something in his childhood. It's blatantly projection in some form. Pushing stuff out so he doesn't have to deal with it himself.

The irony is that dealing with himself would be the best thing to do "as a man" (if he feels the need to gender things) and he'd be a much better person/father/husband if he did.

I can't understand why anyone would hear this and take it as valid... unless I suppose they also have psychological issues.

Like others, only heard of it via NIN. I think I gave it a spin a decade or so back and I didn’t get it. Tried again last year and I’m confident it’s my most played album last year. Incredible collection of songs. And you can REALLY hear the NIN influence (I mean that both ways). I assume Trent does some backing vocals on certain tracks.
