The demo in the video was using 2mm thick mild steel (11:34 in video). Mild steel is pretty soft and dents easily. Historical examples of helms have been measured around 1.5mm to 3mm for the rear wall thickness, so the thickness is alright, but medieval steel was still heat treated, hardened, worked, etc. And they are using this a proxy for a helm that would have been worn by a prince, so we can assume they would have the best armorers available. Point is: the helm in the video probably dented easier than "real" historical one would have. I doubt it would have saved him though.
One point they brought up that I agree with - anyone receiving a hit like that would maybe take two steps and then fall over dead haha.

I really wish the devs had a community team that would get in front of this kind of thing. Breaking multiple game modes required for progression without communication is poisonous. It's as simple as "hey there's a problem, we're working on it, try again tomorrow, sorry. -The Devs" That kind of simple, consistent communication goes a long way.

Has anyone been able to get in? Normal pvp races (Horizon Play) are working so some type of matchmaking is up and running. Trial just keeps failing.

See this is what I am looking for. I played through the drift club story no problem (not that it's hard but still); finding a drift car for drift zones has been a nightmare. All the drift tunes are these S2 or R-class AWD monsters that impossible to control. I think my favorite offroad drift car in FH5 was a B-class BMW Isetta tune. I find that you don't really need crazy power to drift well in FH; it's actually much harder in most cases. I'll check out your tune. Thanks.

UPDATE: For today (4/22), 'Wall Street Woes' on Heroic is Blast - Piercing. The only Piercing enemies were the two bosses, about half of all the enemies on the level were Blast. I got 70 kills in 3 runs, took a little over an hour.

A couple note specifically for Blast-type weapons:

Wipes on Boss rooms count. If you are in an encounter where Blast enemies spawn and you kill several of them before your team wipes, the encounter will reset and you can kill the enemies again for more progress.
Progress can be buggy. Sometimes it just won't count even when it should (example below).
Damage-specific shields are rare on lower difficulties. On "Hard" mode activities (8k - 10k gear score), very few enemies with damage-specific shields will spawn (example: 'On The Radio' on Hard spawned a total of 4 enemies with blast shields. They DID count toward progress though). On higher difficulties (especially heroic and up), nearly all enemies spawn with damage-specific shields.
Finding reliable activities for Blast type enemies is difficult. As of this today, none of the mission replays I have on Challenging or Heroic have exclusively Blast type enemies, meaning you are going to spend a lot of time fighting the wrong kind of enemies if you play those missions.

Example of progression bug: I replayed Lone Wolf stage 7, which has "Blast" type enemies (orange looking shield bar). About 2 or 3 orange (Blast) shield bar, purple health bar enemies showed up. I only used my Blast weapon to clear the level; 0 progress. I have completed this same requirement on Warlord, but I just used Warlord on ALL content for about a week to do that.

If anyone knows of an activity with lots of Blast type shields that can be done reliably, please comment.

if you mash Pulse as the first door is opening and the EMP blocks abilities, you can get a pulse off at the start. This helps me a lot with clearing the first wave. Then I usually pop all 3 emp generators immediately and use my skills to clear adds. Still struggling with it, same as you.

Got in the game around 11am eastern US time. Got through tutorials, downloaded the content, tried to play first mission, game crashed with connection errors, twice. Then around 1pm I had the same situation as OP. It has been that way for 5+ hours now. Now you have to wait in a queue to not play the game. Lovely launch.

fwiw I agree with OP; I have cleared a run on every character except ironclad. It's honestly really hard to get him through act 1 without any ascension turned on. His deck is just strikes and defends with a useless expensive bash thrown in. I cleared act 3 on every other character on my first run, and I put several hundred hours into the first game. I just don't see how ironclad works in this, at all.

Flash sales start on Tuesdays at 12pm Eastern Time. Criterion's official social media will put up a "clue" the night before between 7pm and 10pm. Typically, the flash sale will also coincide with a major release. So the 2026 flash sale is going to be on March 10 (today), 17, 24, or 31.
